Chapter 92: Taste of Rock’s Training

The snow started falling from the cold-looking sky and added another layer of blanket snow on the ground.

"..."

Rock stood in the yard. Hands inside the pockets of his winter coat. He was looking at his shivering students.

They weren’t in their winter clothes. They weren’t allowed to while training. Thus, they only wore their thin clothes.

"So cold..."

Machary whispered under his breath and tried moving his legs and arms to get some blood flowing.

"Haah..."

Fang Raon breathed out cold air and looked at other students, who were also suffering—about twelve of them.

"Is it cold?"

Rock asked.

"No, teacher!"

They shouted, but of course, they didn’t mean it, as it was obviously cold as if they were in the heart of a snowstorm.

"We’ll start with your favorite training. A simple jog."

Rock said with a smile.

However, when his students heard that, their faces turned even paler, as if they had seen a ghost.

Machary didn’t react to it, as it didn’t sound all that bad, and he was just happy to be taught by the legendary Rock.

He was certain that he was going to be much stronger than before.

’A jog? I know his jogs are anything but normal. Knowing him, we will probably run around the entire floor.’

Fang Raon thought with an ugly expression.

"Let’s get moving!"

Clap! Clap!

Rock clapped his hands, and behind the oldest student, everyone reluctantly followed and started running.

They left through the front gate, ran straight to the nearby forest, and were quickly slowed down by the excess snow.

They had to drag their feet through the thick snow, making it nearly impossible to run fast.

Rock was following behind them, sitting atop his angry-looking hound, and lashed his whip at anyone who would stop running.

"Don’t slow down. Don’t stop running. You will keep running even if you are dying. We are not stopping!"

He screamed.

"I-I-I think my toes will fall off..."

Machary whispered, shivering in coldness, as his boots were completely stuffed with snow, and he could barely feel the tips of his fingers.

This kind of training was new for Machary and Fang Raon. They weren’t that used to this insane coldness.

The other students were able to deal with the cold better now after doing this same training for months now.

It was still extremely cold even for them, but they had learned a few techniques that helped them to keep a little bit warmer.

’T-That isn’t good...’

Fang Raon saw his health drop slowly.

It was still far from being dangerous, but if this jog lasted for a couple of hours, he might be in very serious trouble.

He could die!

They kept running through the frozen tree. Through the frozen rivers. With the chill in their bones, they ran and ran.

"Huff... Haah... Huff... Haah... Huff!"

Lungs were burning. Eyebrows were frozen. The feet were numb.

It brought several students to the verge of crying. They hated this. They wanted nothing more than to be back at the mansion, warming themselves up in front of a fireplace.

Machary gritted his teeth.

’Don’t stop! Don’t stop! Don’t stop!’

He knew that if he stopped, it wouldn’t look good in his team leader evaluation, and he didn’t want to disappoint Rock.

"..."

Fang Raon had a runny nose, and he was constantly wiping it with the back of his hand.

He had to agree that this was even worse than running a lap around the 6th floor’s beach. This was much worse.

’It looks like Rock took it easy on me. This is the real training of the so-called demon instructor? It sure is scary...’

They kept running and eventually noticed that the ground started going more in an uphill direction, making running even harder.

When other students saw that, they felt a slight relief as the jogging was almost over, but the hardest part was still ahead.

"The one who reaches the top of the uphill first will get a ride back to the mansion and can even put back their winter clothes!"

Rock shouted.

When the students heard that, their eyes turned hungry, and everyone gritted their teeth and pushed themselves even harder.

They squeezed every little bit of stamina and strength that they had left to run up this hill.

"Aaaaaaargh!"

Machary screamed, wanting to win more than anything, and pushed himself harder and harder.

He was somewhat keeping up with older students ahead of him, but slowly, they were getting further and further away.

At the back of the group, Fang Raon panted hard, trying to follow behind them, but he simply couldn’t.

He couldn’t even keep up with Machary.

"It looks like you’re the weakling of the group, Fang Raon."

Rock said with a scoff.

"Huff... Ahh... Huff..."

Fang Raon gritted his teeth, but he couldn’t snap back at him, because he was right, as he seemed to be the weakest one.

’Even... Machary... Is stronger...’

Self-hatred grew in his heart.

He pushed himself harder than ever before, but when he looked up to the hill, he noticed that everyone had already reached the top.

While he still has some way to go.

After about another ten seconds, he reached the top and came to a slow stop, wheezing hard as if his lungs were about to fall out of his mouth.

"Huff... Huff... Huff..."

All the students were also catching their breaths, but one of the students was smiling as well, because he won the race.

In that moment, he put on some winter clothes, and Rock summoned another large creature for him to use.

The student sat down on the back of the large creature, feeling its warm fur against his cold skin, and let out a sigh of relief.

"Head back to the mansion. If you aren’t back there before twelve, you’ll do the next training outside as well!"

Rock said with a serious look, and his hound started running back to the mansion, followed by the other large creature.

"Huff... Haah..."

Every student was exhausted, but they knew that the next training would last for about five hours, and they would rather die than stay outside for that.

Thus, after catching their breath, they started slowly jogging back downhill.

"Hehe... It looks like I won the race between us..."

Machary said to Fang Raon with a smile on his face.

"..."

Fang Raon didn’t respond back and just wiped his snot off his face and started running back down the hill.

’...He is pissed... Good.’

Machary smiled and ran after him, but since he didn’t want to stay behind him, he accelerated slightly and passed him.

He caught up to the other students quickly, while Fang Raon couldn’t keep up with them and fell further and further behind.

"Haah... Haah... Huuh..."

Fang Raon breathed heavily.

’Weak... Weak... Weak...’
