Black Online-Chapter 91: Revenue Streams
[Common Room]
Above a wooden door, a sign read, "Common Room," with cursive writing that looked clear and elegant.
"This is the common room. It is where the party members come to hang around with others. You can read books, play games, or just relax and chat with friends."
Della said to the two young men who were following right behind her.
Machary and Fang Raon nodded their heads, and they then followed Della inside the Common Room.
And then they saw they weren’t alone.
There were already eight other people gathered inside. Sitting on the couches. They then turned to look at them.
It looked like they had been waiting for them.
"...Guild master!"
"...Guild master."
They greeted with a bow and then looked at the two young men. They remembered them from yesterday’s marking ceremony.
"Hello, everyone. These two with me are Machary and Fang Raon. They will be joining the Fourth-Liners today."
Della said.
They nodded their heads and realized that with the two of them, they now had ten members in the Fourth Line.
"...The party is now full, it looks like. It must mean that the guild master will finally decide who will be the team leader of this raid party.
"...Maybe we can get to actually go to raids finally. I’ve been training nonstop, so I am getting really tired of it!"
The Fourth-Liners whispered among themselves.
"I will be deciding the team leader in the upcoming week, but... The team leader will be either Machary or Fang Raon. They’ve already shown great capabilities, and I am sure that whoever we choose will be great."
Della said.
It surprised other Fourth-Liners that they didn’t even get a choice to be a team leader, but they didn’t voice it out.
They knew that Della would choose whoever was the best for the position.
In that moment, they looked at the two young men, thinking, "One of these will be our leader," and examined them very closely.
On the other hand, Machary and Fang Raon looked at each other. It looked like they were back at being rivals.
"Rose Records will be evaluating the two of you for the following week, and at the end of the week, we will make our decision."
Della said.
"Yes, guild master."
Machary replied seriously.
He had instinctively straightened his back and looked serious like an army general.
This was the opportunity that Machary wanted desperately—to become team leader—it would open so many doors of opportunities for him.
Even being only the team leader of the Fourth Line was an extremely respectful position.
"..."
Fang Raon rubbed his nose.
He wasn’t as interested as Machary in the position of the team leader, but of course, he was going to try to get it still.
’I don’t really care about climbing the guild’s hierarchy, but I personally believe that I would be a great team leader.’
He thought to himself.
It wasn’t arrogance. Just confidence in himself.
"It’s nice to meet you all. My name is Machary, and I hope we all get along."
In that moment, Machary went and shook hands with every Fourth Line member and got quickly acquainted with them.
"...Are you sure that you shouldn’t get to know them? Machary knows that it is important for the team leader to establish positive relationships with all team members.
"It is something that we also take notice of, and if the rest of the party does not like you, there is a slim chance we would choose you as team leader."
Della said to Fang Raon, curious about why he wasn’t doing anything, and just saw him shrug his shoulders.
"I have time to get to know them. It is not something that has to be rushed."
Fang Raon said.
"Mmh~"
Della hummed, and after Machary finished his greetings, they left the Common Room and headed straight to her office.
She pulled out a couple pouches of money from her desk and gave them to the two young men, who raised their eyebrows.
"...What is this?"
Machary asked.
"Your pay. We’ll pay you weekly, starting today. Every guild member gets a pay, but it depends on your position in the guild.
"Since the two of you are Fourth-Liners, your pay is 10,000 square coins every week. It’ll increase with the position of team leader.
"Third-Liners then earn even more, et cetera."
Della said.
’10,000 every week. So, that’s like 100 dollars every week, so 400 dollars in a month. It isn’t bad money.’
Fang Raon thought to himself.
And just like that, he currently doubled his wealth, but compared to others, he was still extremely poor.
He didn’t know how much money Della had, but she was able to give 10,000 coins without any hesitation, so she must have a lot more.
’She must easily have over a million. I know Rose Records deals with trading, and it must be very lucrative.
’The team leader gets even higher pay. I guess I need to take it more seriously than I thought. I want money, after all.’
Fang Raon thought to himself.
"You will now participate in Rock’s training. He is waiting over in the yard, so don’t make him wait too long. We will even evaluate your performance in the training.
"The team leader needs to be charismatic, powerful, and smart. We’re looking at all those qualities in you."
Della said.
"Yes, guild master."
The two of them said so, and then they left the office and walked down the hallway, but there was rising tension between the two of them.
They were competing against each other, after all.
"Did you know that Della is an extremely popular streamer as well?"
Machary asked.
"...Really? I had no idea."
Fang Raon said in surprise.
"She has many revenue streams. The streaming, the trading, the sponsorships... She’s built quite the empire for herself."
Machary said with a look of respect.
"...Is that so..."
Fang Raon rubbed his chin, thought about something, and then asked.
"Does streaming make a lot of money?"
"If you’re popular, definitely. But the streaming space is quite oversaturated at this point. Everyone wants to be a streamer nowadays.
"Everyone usually gets stuck with just a couple viewers and then quits once that doesn’t work out."
Machary said.
"...Hmm."
Fang Raon hmm’d.
"Why are you asking?"
Machary asked.
"...I thought maybe I should try a little bit of streaming."
"Haha, and what would you be streaming about? You can’t stream about the raids with the Fourth-Liners because it is confidential."
Machary asked with a laugh.
"Tch, I don’t know. I would probably make a shitty streamer. Doesn’t a streamer need to be funny and entertaining?"
Fang Raon scratched the back of his head.
