Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 795 - 662: Really Want Them to Take Care of You! (Part 2)
On the wedding night, Fourth Master was quite diligent; after exhausting his wife to sleep, he quietly slipped out of the room.
He hadn’t dared to explain too much to his wife earlier, especially about the children—it still made him shudder to think about it now.
The Eighth Personality locked Yuan Hang and Kou’er away, while Aunt Ni Lu and Uncle Jack were roped into drinking by the in-laws. Meanwhile, Sangyu and the others lured away Danton and An Yang, allowing the three children to sneak into their quarters under the directions of Xiao Qiao and Xiao Si.
The remaining children, however, fell under no one’s watchful eyes. If they were caught now...
Tong Airui shook his head, shoving the dreadful thought from his mind.
Tong Aino pushed open the door and walked out. "Brother, what are you up to?"
"I’m going to check the battle progress. Before we set sail again, keep an eye on the kids."
"Don’t worry, I’ve already sent people to watch them secretly," Tong Aino said with a grin and patted his older brother’s shoulder. "After Sangyu and the others drove away Danton and An Yang, Baili Zijin visited the children’s room. But fortunately, Qing’er blocked her."
"Did they really try to target the kids?"
"Yes, when targeting the kids failed, they tried to target me."
Tong Airui’s face darkened as he glanced at Tong Aino. "Honestly, I almost want them to deal with you."
"Brother, don’t say that! I didn’t even do anything wrong!" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"You intentionally arranged for the three kids to go to our quarters, didn’t you?"
Tong Aino chuckled, "No, it wasn’t me—it was them..."
"Enough, move aside!" Tong Airui pushed him out of the way and descended straight into the lower deck.
Tong Aino followed closely, grinning. "Brother, let me come along to watch the excitement. You can’t refuse me—I contributed significantly!"
Tong Aino, talking to himself, stuck closely to Tong Airui’s heels. Tong Airui turned back to glance at him. "Fine, if you’re coming in, keep your mouth shut!"
"I’m not like the Eighth Personality!"
"The Eighth Personality isn’t the same person anymore, and neither are you."
"With you as our role model, who would dare not improve themselves?"
"What you’ve said makes it sound like you all live in my shadow."
"More like under the shade of your umbrella. With you as the big tree, we all get to enjoy the cool shelter."
Tong Airui halted his footsteps. "Aino, of us brothers, I’m definitely not the most exceptional. I just happen to stand at a relatively higher point. You and I are true brothers—I’ve never taken your feelings into account. Over the years, you’ve endured grievances because of that."
Tong Aino froze briefly before lightly punching him. "What are you even talking about! I haven’t suffered any grievances. If you don’t want to see me as your brother, just say so."
"In recent years, plenty of people have tried to whisper things in your ear to stir up discord between us brothers. Luckily, you’re not the type to listen to provocations—especially Connie. The fact that our family is this harmonious now is largely thanks to her."
Tong Aino looked at his brother’s serious expression and shook his head with a chuckle. "Brother, you’re wrong—the person we should thank isn’t Connie; it’s my sister-in-law. Everyone in the family gets along so well with her. She’s just like you—a glue that tightly bonds all of us together.
Now that I think about it, that’s not accurate. Sister-in-law is much better than you. You only care about her and ignore the rest of us, but she’s different—everyone in the family is wonderfully cared for by her."
Tong Airui glanced at him sideways. "Clearly, you’re all soft for her because she spoils you all. She hasn’t given you pocket money again recently, has she?"
Tong Aino laughed. "She’s done far more than that. Whoever in the family needs money doesn’t even have to say anything—she’s always prepared ahead of time."
"Are you not worried that telling me this might lead to an argument between me and my wife?" Tong Airui said, as they approached the war room door.
"If you cared about such trivial matters, you wouldn’t be you. Besides, for the sake of peace between you two, we’ll return the money to her."
"Who asked you to pay it back!" Tong Airui pulled him into the war room.
The brothers entered silently and took seats at the rearmost spots, watching as Mi Chenxuan steadily commanded the battle from the head position.
Tong Airui observed for a while, his face breaking into a smile.
Seeing this, Tong Aino glanced at him, mouthed the words: "You smiled—does that mean the Eighth Personality isn’t so bad, right?"
Tong Airui nodded, mouthing back: "Not just ’not bad’—they’re doing great. The battle will likely end before dawn."
"What about handling those few people?"
"Later, we’ll toss them into the sea to feed the sharks, provided you don’t feel reluctant."
Tong Aino shot him a glare. "Why would I feel reluctant!"
"That young lady there is quite pretty."
"Shut up!"
Tong Airui chuckled silently.
Everyone else turned their heads to look over.
Tong Airui raised a hand apologetically. "Carry on."
Mi Chenxuan smiled as he walked over. "There’s nothing more to carry on with now. The entire island has already been blasted flat. We’re just waiting for any stragglers to emerge, then we’ll wipe them out as cleanup. After that, everyone can rest."
"With that level of bombardment, would there really be any stragglers left?" Tong Aino asked, puzzled.
"Fifth Brother, that’s where you’re wrong. This is called being cautious," Mi Chenxuan explained with a smile. "Fourth Brother—or rather, Commander—once this bombing wave concludes, I suggest pulling the warship out of the combat zone."
Tong Airui smiled lightly. "Do whatever you think is best. Before any actions, make sure you coordinate well with Haotian and Beidi."
"Weren’t we supposed to catch stragglers... Oh, I see—you’re faking a retreat."
Mi Chenxuan grinned and patted Tong Aino’s shoulder. "Fifth Brother, if only you’d attended war college, maybe Fourth Brother’s position would’ve been yours."
Tong Aino crooked his finger.
Mi Chenxuan leaned in, offering his ear.
Tong Aino whispered under his breath. "I’m not interested in that position. What I’m interested in is whether, if my brother and I had swapped places, your sister-in-law would have ended up as my wife."
"If Fourth Brother heard that, wouldn’t he thrash you!"
"I heard everything. I can give you all everything else, but my wife? That’s off-limits. Fifth Brother, if you want to watch, go on. I’m heading back to sleep."
"Go ahead—after all, you’re the groom tonight." Tong Aino laughed. "I’ll stick around to watch a while longer."
Tong Airui nodded, stood, and left the room. The battle had concluded, but he didn’t feel entirely satisfied. Someone powerful was hiding behind Sato Shoko—and he couldn’t rest until they were found.
Upon exiting, Tong Airui headed to the room where Mr. Wu was held. Though he knew little could be pried from him, he wanted to try.
"Anything revealed yet?" Tong Airui asked, peering through the glass at Mr. Wu, who lounged inside with his eyes closed.
The guard replied cautiously, "He spoke only of his identity and hasn’t said another word."
"What identity?"
"His mother is a distant aunt of Sato Shoko."
Tong Airui raised an eyebrow slightly. He was from the Sato family and worked for Sato Shoko. Interrogating him was likely futile.
Moving to the door of Baili Zijin’s holding room, Tong Airui asked, "What has Baili Zijin confessed to?"
"Like a lunatic, she keeps insisting on seeing the Duke of Aino, saying she’ll only talk if she meets him."
"Turn off the lights."
"Yes, sir."
Tong Airui removed his outer jacket, handing it to a guard, and leaned in to whisper a few instructions.
The guard nodded repeatedly.
"Duke of Aino, you’ve arrived."
"Yes. Why are the lights off inside?"
"Perhaps a circuit trip occurred. I’ll have it repaired."
"Aino President! You’re here! I knew you’d come!" Clanking sounds of handcuffs echoed from within the room.
Tong Airui slightly furrowed his brow. "Open the door—I’ll go in."
"Yes, Duke of Aino." The guard opened the door for Tong Airui.
Mimicking Tong Aino’s gait, Tong Airui swaggered into the room. Using the dim hallway light, he scanned the room. Baili Zijin was shackled to the bedpost, struggling desperately to move toward him.
Standing in the shadows, Tong Airui spoke in a low voice. "They said you wanted to see me. What do you have to say?"
"Aino President, I really had no intention to hurt you; I was deceived by Sato Shoko."
"You put so much effort into crafting such a ’great’ proposal, yet you dare claim you didn’t plan to harm me? If I’d invested those billions, it would’ve vanished without a trace! Zhuoyuan wouldn’t advance to a new level but instead collapse entirely—even in a salvageable scenario, it’d regress decades."
"..."
"Nothing to say for yourself?" Tong Airui stepped forward slightly, looking at Baili Zijin on the bed. He chuckled coldly. "Do you know, I nearly fell for you once. But you destroyed the goodness I held within."
"Aino... why didn’t you tell me sooner? If you’d said something earlier, I wouldn’t have taken this step."
"If you’re willing to repent, it’s never too late. You have guts and talent; if you applied your skills to business, you’d be quite gifted."
"Can you forgive me? As long as you forgive me, I’ll do anything you ask."
Tong Airui coldly replied, "I don’t need anything from you."
"So you’re refusing to forgive me." Baili Zijin looked at him tearfully. "Aino... I need to warn you: Sato Shoko isn’t the real threat—her uncle is!"
Tong Airui paused. "Her uncle? Which uncle?"
"This uncle is very mysterious—no one has ever seen him. I only know that whenever something happens, she turns to him for advice. Even that proposal wasn’t made by me—it was crafted by her uncle and given to me. Aino, I’ve told you everything. Please forgive me. I have no other desires—I just wish I could stay by your side, even if it’s just to see you each day. That would be enough for me."
Tong Airui clenched his fingers and shouted toward the door. "Turn the lights on!"
