Chapter 659: Chapter 560 Tong Airui, do you admit your guilt? (Third update)

"Leon, come with me to the Duke’s place to bring your mother home!" Mutar grabbed his son and prepared to head out.

Long Che took a quick step forward to block Mutar’s path. "Let’s delay that for a bit and handle Tong Airui’s matter first. Do you want to quietly execute him, or follow legal procedures?"

Mutar shoved Long Che aside. "I’ll deal with him when I have the time! For now, let him interrogate that person clearly for me. You stay here and listen in too!"

Tong Airui chuckled lightly and said, "Uncle Mutar, I’d better hand over the Golden Eagle first."

"Are you provoking me just like your father?!" Mutar glared at him irritably. "You gained a lot of credit with your aunt, and the mastermind behind all this was Leon. Who do I dare punish between you two?"

"Dad, don’t get angry. Let’s go get Mom," Leon said and supported his father as they walked out.

After the father and son left, Long Che turned to his son, "What do you think about this matter?"

"Someone wants to stir up trouble, trying to drive a wedge between me and Uncle Mutar. We’ve seen this kind of tactic many times before, so it’s not surprising. What’s surprising is that I’ve kept my actions so secret—how does he know about it?"

"There are eyes around you!"

"Eyes around me? Are you suggesting it’s Uncle Sheng?" Tong Airui shook his head. "It’s definitely not an internal issue from our side. This has to be a setup. Someone wants to use Constar to disrupt our relationship with Uncle Mutar."

"Originally, the one most intent on sabotaging our families’ relationship was Kai Di. Now, who could it be... The R Nation!"

"The R Nation!"

The father and son exclaimed in unison.

Tong Airui smiled. "Turns out, we father and son can be telepathic!"

Long Che laughed and patted his son’s shoulder, "Once we catch that person and interrogate them, we’ll find out if our telepathy was spot-on."

Tong Airui looked at his father grimly, "Dad, Uncle Mutar has actually doubted me for a long time but hesitated to confront me. Today’s situation provided a good opportunity for him to ask directly. If he could ask me openly, it means he doesn’t blame me. Is my analysis reasonable?"

"Reasonable!" Long Che furrowed his brows slightly. "If he had found out earlier that you killed Constar, he might have blamed you. But now, he has to be grateful to you—killing Constar means you eliminated a major problem for him. Moreover, your admission today shows him you’re forthright and have no hidden agenda against him, especially since you played the familial loyalty card, extending the definition of family to include him. That would make it hard for him to hold a grudge against you. And with Leon shouldering the blame, he doesn’t have much else to say."

"Leon arrived just in time... beep beep..." Tong Airui heard his phone ring and quickly picked it up. "It’s my mom."

"Answer it."

Tong Airui pressed the answer button, but before he could speak, Tong Yao started talking, "Rui’er, is everything alright over there? Did Leon make it yet?"

"I’m fine. Leon came and then left with Uncle Mutar to head to our house. Was it you who sent Leon over?"

Tong Yao shook her head. "Not me, it was your aunt who asked him to go."

Tong Airui furrowed his brows slightly. "My aunt?"

"Let your aunt explain today’s matter to you." Tong Yao handed the phone to Royce.

Royce sighed deeply, "Airui... The document you saw is half true and half false. The original I received merely contained one sentence—Mutar has an illegitimate child. At the time, I was both enraged and confused, worried about its accuracy. So, I called Leon over, and under repeated questioning, he finally told me the truth. He actually had plenty of information on that person. To make sure your uncle dropped the matter entirely, I had him compile everything he knew into that document."

Tong Airui raised his eyebrows slightly. "I get it now. The person stirring the pot wouldn’t have included Constar’s evil deeds in the file they sent to you."

"I was worried your uncle might still have lingering feelings for that person... But then Leon reminded me of one detail: he overheard your uncle ordering you to track that person down, and yet the person never resurfaced. Leon said, with your capabilities, finding someone should be easy—unless you didn’t want to. Or, given your personality, if faced with someone so despicable, you likely dealt with them already. So, Leon and I discussed it and decided it was best for him to sniff out the situation. Rui’er, nothing has gone wrong on your end, right?"

"Thank you, Aunt, and thanks to Leon as well. Actually, Constar has long been dealt with by me. The sender of the document also told Uncle Mutar about my actions. I came clean to Uncle Mutar today to prevent anyone from using this as a wedge to sow discord between us in the future. Leon arrived just in time—I had just confessed when he came in, claiming the order had been issued by him."

Royce tightly held the phone. "What was your uncle’s reaction?"

"Nothing much; his expression suggested he didn’t blame me or Leon."

"You did this for him and the nation. If he dares to reproach you two, I’ll take it up with him myself!" Royce said, frowning. "Don’t be afraid, both you and Leon. When he comes later, I’ll say that I was the one who gave the order to kill that person."

Tong Yao nudged him. "Lower your voice; Mutar will be here soon."

Royce pursed his lips, "Rui’er, your righteous actions have been noted by your aunt. No matter what happens in the future, as long as I can help, I will do everything I can."

"Thank you, Aunt. I also want to say something heartfelt: let the past stay in the past. Back then, Uncle didn’t know you; he made a drunken mistake that led to all this. Teach him a lesson, but don’t let it damage your decades-long relationship for the sake of a scoundrel."

Royce seethed angrily. "I didn’t have the right to reproach him for his earlier actions, but what he did afterward behind my back was absolutely unacceptable! I’ll observe his behavior before making a decision! Rui’er, are you trying to avoid even feeding me for a couple of meals now?"

Tong Airui laughed. "How could I! If you reconcile with my uncle, you’d be welcome to stay at our home as long as you want. But if you’re still not on good terms, I wouldn’t dare host you."

"Brat, you’re forcing me to make up with your uncle!"

"I wouldn’t dare."

"No more talking. Let’s find some time in a couple of days for mother and son to chat properly."

"Alright." Tong Airui hung up the phone and turned to his father, "Aunt and Leon’s maneuvering nearly confused me, but now everything’s clear. Someone’s definitely trying to play games with us. In that case, I’ll play along."

"Send someone reliable over," Long Che advised.

Tong Airui raised his eyebrows slightly. "How about Old Eight?"

"That works. But sending him alone might upset Youyou. Send the couple together."

"Fine. Once we’ve interrogated this person and obtained some clues, I’ll send them over."

"Don’t get your hopes up."

"I’m thinking the same—it’s likely Uncle Sheng will come up empty-handed."

While they were speaking, a call came in from Sheng Duheng. "Airui, we’ve arrived, but the person committed suicide by poisoning before we could get to him."

Tong Airui smiled wryly, "I just finished telling my dad about this possibility. Handle things on your end and come back."

"Have your uncle comb through thoroughly before heading back. Just in case there’s a lead left behind."

Tong Airui’s lips twitched slightly. "Uncle, you heard that?"

The laughter of Sheng Duheng came through the phone. "Your dad’s menopausal mood swings—I’m not even going to bother, I’m hanging up."

"He’s complaining about me now?" Long Che snorted coldly. "He’s older than me anyway!"

Tong Airui gave his father a helpless look and opened the door.

Long Che glared at his son in displeasure. "You’re trying to kick me out?"

Tong Airui chuckled. "Head home early and help Uncle Mutar extinguish the fire in his backyard."

Long Che kicked the door shut. "Let it burn! This fiasco cost you favors owed to both your aunt and Leon. Your aunt is easy to manage, but Leon—those debts might take a lifetime to pay off."

"Dad, didn’t you owe Uncle Mutar a favor too, one that cost you decades of entanglement?"

"It’s like we were born indebted to him! If he’d dared move against you, I wouldn’t have tolerated it. I’d pack up and take you all to Z Nation for a peaceful life!"

Tong Airui laughed. "Z Nation? That’s unlikely for you to return to. Dad, since you have the day off, go home and spend some time with Sangyu."

At the mention of his granddaughter, Uncle Che’s face lit up with a smile as he pushed the door open to leave.

Tong Airui escorted his father downstairs. Once he saw his car pull away, he returned to the office.

"Tong Airui, do you plead guilty?!"

Tong Airui had barely stood firm when the person sitting in his chair slammed the table and roared.
