Chapter 658: 559 Chapter: A Life for a Life! (Second Update)

Tong Airui’s lips twitched slightly, "Dad, Uncle Muta, why are the two of you here?"

"Let’s talk in your office." Long Che said in a deep voice.

The three of them entered the office, and Long Che turned to Muta, "Should you say it, or should I?"

Muta glanced at the door and lowered his eyes briefly, "You say it."

Long Che coughed lightly, "Rui’er, your aunt has found out about Constar’s existence. Right now, she’s at our house crying to your mom."

Tong Airui looked at his father, genuinely unsure what to say. His aunt was crying at home, so why were the two of them here with him?!

"How did Aunt find out?"

"Someone sent her a file." Muta handed a phone with a shattered screen to Tong Airui, "Your dad and I are here because we need you to figure out who sent her the file. Also, I want the truth from you—are the things in the file about Constar true, and... is he really dead?"

Tong Airui took the phone, pressed the power button, but after a while, it didn’t respond.

He pulled a toolbox out of his drawer, sat at his desk, and silently began dismantling the phone.

Muta anxiously pinched the bridge of his nose.

Long Che glanced at him, "What’s done is done. Worrying like this is useless. Once we find out who’s behind it, we’ll plan our next move carefully."

"I should’ve listened to you back then." Muta shook his head in frustration.

Long Che sighed, "I was just talking back then. If this had happened to me, I wouldn’t have been able to make such a ruthless decision either."

Tong Airui raised his eyes to glance at his father, then continued repairing the phone.

"Sigh... you could never make the same foolish mistake I did!" Muta shook his head helplessly.

Long Che pondered for a moment, "Royce is a reasonable woman. This child existed before the two of you even knew each other. It should be explainable."

Muta shot him a look, "Explaining the earlier part is easy, but how about the later part? How do I explain that? After I learned of his existence, I helped him so much. Then, he turned around and did so many things that betrayed both the country and the people. How do you expect me to explain that?"

"You ask me, who should I ask?" Long Che glared at him, "You’re such a fool!"

Muta glared back and turned away.

Tong Airui looked at the two bickering old men, smirked faintly, and finished fixing the phone before connecting it to his computer.

After looking through the contents of the folder, he frowned and said, "How does this person know all these details so clearly?"

"After hearing everything Uncle Muta told me, my only thought is this—Constar was able to reconnect with Uncle Muta likely due to substantial help from this informant."

"Or rather, an orchestrator behind the scenes." Tong Airui typed away on his keyboard, "Do you still have the paternity test results?"

"I destroyed them after reading."

"Can you find some of his belongings? I suggest you do another paternity test. What if... just maybe... it’s not true?"

"Do you really think there’s a chance?"

"Look at my wife’s example."

Muta shook his head, "I don’t think ’maybe’ applies to me in this case. Besides, I can’t even locate anything of his to test for DNA."

"If there isn’t a chance, then create one, or find someone to take the fall for you. The priority right now is appeasing my aunt."

After hearing Tong Airui’s words, Muta tilted his head to look at Long Che.

Long Che let out a cold laugh, "Don’t even think about dragging me into this. If you say Constar is mine, the entire Fang Yao Continent wouldn’t believe it!"

Muta was about to retort when his phone chimed with a message. Startled, he picked it up and handed it to Long Che.

Long Che read the message and smirked slightly, "Do you believe it?"

"I don’t believe it. If Rui’er had really done it, he would have told me."

Long Che returned the phone to Muta with a laugh, "But I believe it. This kid always plays by his own rules, and his guts are bigger than a dried-out pumpkin."

Tong Airui continued staring at the screen, his fingers flying over the keyboard, "Uncle Muta, what did the person sending you the message say?"

Long Che replied in a deep voice, "Isn’t it something you can see for yourself?"

"I’m a bit busy... Here it is! Haha... This person is quite impressive. How many birds does he hope to hit with this one stone?"

"Right now, it’s looking like two birds with one stone. You and your Uncle Muta are already hit."

Tong Airui continued typing quickly, "Uncle Muta, if I really did kill Constar, would you blame me?"

"After all the evil things he did behind my back, if you dealt with him, I’d owe you gratitude instead."

"Then it’s settled. Let’s say Constar’s death was my doing, and use that to ruin this ploy. Now you and Dad should focus on how to placate my aunt. Dad has plenty of experience in that department."

Just as Tong Airui spoke, he pressed the intercom. Shortly after, Sheng Duheng knocked and entered the room.

Sheng Duheng greeted Muta and Long Che, then looked to Tong Airui.

Tong Airui said seriously, "Second Uncle, this matter can only trouble you. Take a team to this address and bring the person back. Don’t allow them any chance to speak. Once the mission is complete, bring them directly here—I need to see them immediately. And be sure they don’t poison themselves to commit suicide during the capture!"

Sheng Duheng took the address and swiftly left.

Long Che looked at his son somewhat unhappily, "Your second uncle is quite advanced in age! Why are you still assigning him tasks?"

"The fewer people who know about this, the better. My second uncle is tight-lipped—even if something leaks, it stops with him."

Tong Airui glanced at Muta, "Uncle Muta, once the person is brought back, you should interrogate them yourself. And just to clarify, my suggestion about a scapegoat earlier was a joke. When dealing with family, there should be no deception. You and my aunt should be honest with her, and let my mom help ease her emotions. Luckily, that person is no longer around, so her anger will dissipate quickly."

Muta looked deeply at Tong Airui, "Constar isn’t really dead because of you, is he?"

"I killed him!" Tong Airui’s body leaned forward slightly, locking eyes with Muta and stating firmly, "You are my family, so I must tell you the truth. He had to go—if left alive, he would have destroyed your lifelong reputation."

Muta slammed the coffee table hard, yelling furiously, "Airui Aldrich, is there anything you dare not do?!"

"There’s little I don’t dare to do. But whatever I do, I must always stay true to my own conscience. The things I do will never fail you, nor the country or its people." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

Tong Airui slowly stood, "King Muta, you have always suspected I might have done this. Today I’m giving you the answer—it was me! Now, however you plan to handle me, I’ll comply."

Muta glared at Long Che with a sinister look, "You’ve raised quite a son! He’s exactly like you!"

"If he weren’t like me, you’d have bigger problems!" Long Che raised an eyebrow slightly, "Truthfully, I’ve long wanted to deal with Constar for you, but I didn’t want to see you heartbroken. To be honest, I couldn’t face your eyes and admit to doing what this boy has done."

"Knock knock..." Leon walked into the room.

"What are you doing here?" Muta frowned slightly.

Leon glanced at Tong Airui, then turned to his father and said, "Dad, I came to confess—the order to kill Constar was mine, and I gave it to Airui..."

"Leon!" Tong Airui frowned at him. Why was he stirring things up? There was no need for him to take the blame.

Muta glared at his son, "So, you’ve known about this for a while?"

"Yes. From the day you allowed him to exist, I knew. Later, he crossed countless boundaries, and I kept my silence. But when he sold intel to R Country, I finally snapped. Still, no matter what, he was my brother, and I couldn’t do it myself—so, I asked Airui to..."

"I received no such order! Killing him was my own decision!"

"You two really are close brothers, huh?" Muta stood, walked a few steps around the room, then turned abruptly to Long Che, "What should I do about this? Teach me!"

Long Che smirked, "Do you need me to spell it out? Murder demands retribution! My son killed your son, so kill my son. It’s only fair!"

"Was he even my son?!" Muta strode over to Long Che, leaning forward to stare him down.

Long Che looked at him mockingly, "I advise you to stop fixating on whether he was your son. If you don’t get Royce back home soon, your wife might not even be yours!"

"If she’s not my wife, is she supposed to be yours now?"

"Who’s to say? She’s at my house right now anyway!"
