Chapter 503: Chapter 434: Prioritize Your Career! (Part 3)

Yi Luowa pursed her lips, slipped on her slippers, and got out of bed. "You should take a nap at the base during lunch, or else you won’t be able to handle it."

Tong Airui nodded. "Mm, don’t worry about me, I’ve already arranged everything."

"When will Old Eight be back?"

"In three days."

"You didn’t send him to R Country, did you?"

"No, he went somewhere else."

Seeing that he didn’t want to talk about where Mi Chenxuan had gone, Yi Luowa didn’t pursue the topic further.

The two walked out side by side, just in time to run into Long Che and Tong Yao carrying their two children to the nursery.

"Wah wah..." Little Sangyu was crying with all her might. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Long Che patted her gently while soothing her. "You’ll have your food soon, don’t cry, don’t cry, okay?"

Tong Airui chuckled. His dad’s soft side only ever showed in front of his mom and Little Sangyu.

Yi Luowa walked over, reaching out to touch her daughter’s tiny head. "No more tears now. Look at how worried you’ve made Grandpa."

Little Sangyu’s crying came to an abrupt stop. She blinked her exaggeratedly big eyes and stared at her mom, her tiny hand suddenly shooting out from under the blanket.

Yi Luowa made a funny face at her. "What do you want? Do you want Mommy to hold you?"

"Giggle..." Little Sangyu burst into laughter.

The little one in Tong Yao’s arms, Little Ziyan, turned his head to look over as well.

Yi Luowa gently touched her son’s head and smiled. "Once you and your sister are full, Mommy will hold both of you."

"Kids are always closest to their moms." Tong Yao smiled as she glanced at Long Che. "You, after enjoying them for a couple of days, should let them stay in the nursery so Luowa and Airui can visit them often."

"Luowa and Airui need to rest at night. These two wake up two or three times during the night; it’ll disrupt their sleep."

"Then what’s the point of having a nanny in our house?" Tong Yao glared at him.

Tong Airui smiled as he pushed open the nursery door. "As long as it doesn’t disturb your and Dad’s rest, if Dad wants to look after them, let him."

"It will disturb us for sure." Yi Luowa pouted.

Tong Airui glanced at his petite wife. She clearly wanted to take care of the kids herself. "You’ll start your training in a few days and come home late at night. Let’s rely on Dad and Mom for now."

Yi Luowa pressed her lips together. "It feels like such a burden to trouble Dad and Mom all the time."

"It’s not a burden. They’re my grandchildren. Your mom and I are happy to look after them." Long Che handed the children to the nannies and walked out of the room.

Yi Luowa pouted again.

Tong Yao handed the other baby to another nanny and pulled Yi Luowa to the sofa to sit down.

Tong Airui glanced at his wife and casually closed the nursery door.

Long Che took a few steps aside with his son. "Luowa wants to take care of the kids herself. It’s not that I don’t want to let her, but you saw how she held them yesterday—I just can’t trust her."

Tong Airui’s mouth twitched slightly. You never even gave us a chance, of course she can’t hold them properly. But while he thought that, he didn’t dare say it out loud.

Instead, Tong Airui chuckled. "I can’t trust her looking after them either."

Long Che burst out laughing. "See! You don’t trust her either, right? She’s still just a kid herself. How could she take care of kids? Besides, you two are still young; your career should come first."

"That’s true, we should focus on our careers. Dad, it’s not that Luowa means anything else. She told me before that since you and Mom already raised the three of us, it’s unfair to make you two endure the hardship again."

Long Che shot his son a sidelong glance. "You don’t know how the three of you were raised? Your mom and I barely did anything ourselves."

Tong Airui smiled. "True, it’s our family tradition! But when it’s my turn, I plan to break that tradition. I’m the last person who wants to take care of kids."

"When the three of you were little, I didn’t enjoy it either. But taking care of grandkids is different from taking care of your own kids. You’ll understand when the time comes."

While father and son conversed outside, inside the room, Tong Yao was also comforting Yi Luowa. "Just let your dad take care of them for a few days. Once the novelty wears off, things will settle."

Yi Luowa smiled shyly. "Mom, I don’t mean anything else. I just feel bad making you go through all this for the third generation. Tong Airui’s words just reminded me—I’ll have classes three days a week. During this time, I’ll need to rely on you and Dad."

Tong Yao laughed and held Yi Luowa’s hand. "Luowa, we’re family. Don’t say things like that—it sounds so distant. If you miss the kids at night, just knock on the door. Don’t feel shy."

"Okay." Yi Luowa nodded with a smile.

After eating and getting a change of clothes, the two little ones were placed in their cribs and started happily kicking around.

Long Che and Tong Yao watched for a while before heading downstairs.

Yi Luowa and Tong Airui stayed by the crib, watching the little ones play. Tong Airui reached out to touch each of them and smiled. "Seeing these two, I don’t feel like going to work anymore."

"Your career comes first!" Yi Luowa teased with a smile.

"You heard that?"

Yi Luowa pouted. "You said it so loudly. Of course, you wanted me to hear it."

Tong Airui ruffled her hair affectionately. "Still upset?"

"There’s nothing to be upset about. Mom and Dad are doing it for us. It doesn’t matter who looks after the kids. At first, I just felt uncomfortable, like the kids were my personal property. But then I realized—they have your blood, and your blood comes from Mom and Dad. At the end of the day, we’re one family."

"Wife, I really admire you..."

"Admire me for what?"

Tong Aino yawned as he walked in, heading straight for Little Sangyu. He barely reached out his hand before Tong Airui grabbed it.

Tong Aino tried to jerk his hand away but failed, frowning. "Let me touch her."

"No touching! If she cries and Dad hears, none of us will be spared!" Tong Airui held his hand tightly.

Tong Aino pouted. "Look how scared you are!"

Yi Luowa didn’t bother with the two. She extended her hand to the babies, and the little ones immediately grabbed her fingers, laughing gleefully.

"You little rascals! You two are going to charm Uncle into pieces!"

Yi Luowa glanced at him. "If you love kids that much, you and Connie should have one."

"We’re working on it," Tong Aino said smugly while flipping his hair. "Maybe we’ll have three or four in one go."

Tong Airui laughed. "You should aim to have a whole soccer team. When are you leaving?"

Tong Aino checked the time. "Almost time. I’ll head downstairs and wait for the call with Mom."

"Come back once Ai Ni is ready."

"Mm. Don’t worry—you and Sis-in-law can relax. Connie and I will take care of it." Tong Aino whistled as he went downstairs.

Yi Luowa sighed. "Wouldn’t it be nice if everything were peaceful? Why must trouble always come?"

Tong Airui chuckled. "That’s life. You’re still young. You’ll understand when you grow up."

Yi Luowa playfully glared at him. "By the time I grow up, you’ll be old!"

"Even when I’m old, I’ll still make you scream!" Tong Airui teased while giving her a playful slap on the backside.

"Don’t talk dirty in front of the kids!"

"They heard worse when they were in your belly—they’re immune already." Tong Airui glanced at the door, ensuring no one was around, and then picked up his daughter. "Come here, sweetheart. Let Daddy hold you."

"Be careful not to strain your back."

"Don’t worry, I’ve got her."

Feeling left out, Little Ziyan let out a dissatisfied hum. Yi Luowa quickly picked him up. "Mommy’s got you now. You’re a big boy—you need to be a gentleman."

"Big boys grow up to protect Mommy and their little sister." Tong Airui peered at his son. "And later, you’ll need to protect your wife too."

Yi Luowa rocked Little Ziyan and laughed. "Don’t listen to Daddy’s nonsense."

"So you’d rather listen to yourself? You’re always spouting dirty jokes."

"You’re the real dirty one. I can’t compete with you!"

As the two bantered, the nannies came in laughing. "Duke Airui, Madam Luowa, let us take the children. Lady Biyao is calling you two for breakfast."

Yi Luowa smiled and handed Ziyan over. The boy, swapped into a new set of arms, squirmed slightly but only made a sound or two before settling down.

Sangyu, however, waved her chubby little hands excitedly as soon as she was passed over, showing no sign of missing her father’s embrace.

Tong Airui gave his daughter a displeased look. "What’s the meaning of this?"

The nannies quickly explained. "Perhaps Duke Airui held the young lady too tightly earlier, and she felt uncomfortable."

Tong Airui looked at his large hands. "I guess I’ll have to be gentler."

After breakfast, Tong Aino and Connie left for S Country, and Tong Airui and Long Che headed to the royal palace.

As soon as they left, You pouted at Yi Luowa. "Weren’t we supposed to work out together?"

"I got caught up playing with the kids and forgot." Yi Luowa apologized with a smile. "Can we go now?"

"I have a schedule. Next up is shooting practice. What are you going to do?"

"Then I’ll join you for shooting practice." Yi Luowa stepped toward the stairs.
