Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 298 - 272: Benefactor’s Husband, Hello (Four Updates)
Joyina leaned on the windowsill and looked outside, "Holy crap, why are there so many people!"
Tiger Brother saw her stick her head out and quickly waved his hand, "Get back! There’s a sniper."
Instead of being scared, Joyina leaned out halfway and looked upstairs.
"Be good, get back!" Tiger Brother shouted loudly, holding his head in his hands, "We’ll go out and surrender right now."
Yi Luowa saw Tiger Brother and his group lining up, holding their heads, heading toward the school gate. She pulled Joyina back, "Stop looking, let me make a phone call first."
"Don’t save them! I want a few days of peace." Joyina pouted.
Yi Luowa glanced at her black lipstick and shuddered, "Can you wipe off that lipstick?"
Joyina puckered her lips, "Why would I wipe it off? It’s such a unique color."
"It’s ugly. Looking at it makes me lose my appetite!" Yi Luowa grabbed her backpack, rummaging through it, "No tissues? If you don’t have any, use a pad."
"You’re disgusting!" Joyina fished out a small pack of tissues from her bag and stuffed it into her hand, "You wipe it for me; I don’t want to see it." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
"Do I owe you something?" Yi Luowa grumbled as she pulled out a tissue and wiped her lips. "Much better now. I’ll clean it better later, but I need to make a phone call first."
Yi Luowa pulled out her phone, glanced at it, and then turned to Kou’er behind her, "Give me your phone. Mine’s out of battery."
Kou’er looked troubled and said, "I stayed at your place last night and didn’t bring my charger. My phone died last night too."
"Use mine." A "classmate" offered their phone.
Yi Luowa took it and dialed Tong Airui’s number.
"Hey, hubby..."
Before Yi Luowa could say another word, Tong Airui anxiously shouted, "Babe, are you alright? I couldn’t get through to your phone, nor Kou’er’s."
"I’m fine. I just wanted to let you know, the people here today don’t have bad intentions. Don’t go too hard on them."
Tong Airui glanced at the people who had walked out and frowned, asking, "No bad intentions? Then why’d they bring so many people and injure several security guards?"
"How do I put this?" Yi Luowa eyed the innocent-looking Joyina and said, "Let’s just say, they’re not the issue. Their master is—she’s an airheaded fool giving random orders."
"There’s a mastermind?" Tong Airui listened over the phone as he quickly walked toward the school gate. With snipers set up around, he wasn’t too worried about someone taking a potshot at him.
"Not exactly a mastermind, just a clueless little girl. This little girl is here to find me. She’s that little beggar you spent five hundred yuan saving years ago. Does that make sense now?"
"Got it. Where are you? I’ll come get you."
"I’m on the first floor... Oh, I see you now." Yi Luowa waved at him.
Joyina squeezed over and waved at Tong Airui too, "Hello, benefactor’s husband!"
Tong Airui glanced at her, his cheek twitching. Is this a person or a sprite?
Yi Luowa grabbed her arm and pulled her back, using a tissue to wipe as much of her face as she could.
Kou’er looked at her now-clean little face as if discovering a new continent, laughing, "Wow! Didn’t realize you’re actually a pretty girl!"
Joyina gave her a sideways glance, "You’re not much older yet! Don’t call me a ’girl’!"
Kou’er laughed, "I’m already eighteen, but you’re probably only sixteen or seventeen!"
"Seventeen and a half! Almost eighteen!" Joyina puffed out her little chest proudly, only to remember she didn’t have much to show, and let her shoulders slump dejectedly.
"Be on your best behavior later. Don’t clash with my husband. If you keep him happy, your subordinates won’t suffer. Got it?" Yi Luowa cleaned her up and instructed her seriously.
Joyina pouted, "Benefactor, don’t let them suffer, but can your husband lock them up for a few days? Release them when I’m about to head back home."
"You’ve got to be kidding me! Who the heck doesn’t care about their own subordinates like this?"
"I care about them, which is why I want them to rest for a while. Otherwise, they’d be following me around all day—it’s exhausting!"
"Where are you staying right now?"
"Nowhere. I came straight here after getting off the plane."
Yi Luowa gave her a long, hard look, "I wasn’t asking where you’re staying. I meant: where’s your nation?"
"Oh, my kingdom? Beidi, the northernmost country in the Fang Yao Continent. I crossed thousands of mountains and rivers to find you. Aren’t I amazing?" Joyina laughed, hugging Yi Luowa’s arm.
Yi Luowa looked at her with a trace of pity, "Beidi was at war for the past few years. No wonder you fled to F Country."
Joyina shrugged it off with a laugh, "I treated it as an adventure. What’s done is done. Look, I’m perfectly fine now, aren’t I? Besides, if I hadn’t gone to F Country, I wouldn’t have met you. Right? When I’ve had my fun, I’ll head to F Country to visit Huo Li."
Yi Luowa pressed her lips together, "You don’t even need to go to F Country to see her..."
"Wifey... Let go of my wife!" Tong Airui yelled as soon as he entered, seeing Joyina hugging Yi Luowa.
Joyina pouted, "Why are you shouting at me! I’d never hurt my benefactor. Oh, by the way, I plan to stay here for half a month. Lock up those outside folks for half a month for me."
"Let go of my wife, and I’ll agree to your request." Tong Airui gave Kou’er a knowing look.
Kou’er caught on, ready to pounce the moment Joyina released Yi Luowa.
Joyina giggled, "Do you think I’m stupid? If I let my benefactor go, you’ll definitely grab me too."
Tong Airui rubbed his forehead, realizing this little rascal wasn’t going to be easy to deal with.
Yi Luowa smiled helplessly, "She’s not going to do anything to me. Don’t worry so much. The more you stress, the more she’ll use me to mess with you."
Joyina pouted, "My benefactor already said so. Husband-of-my-benefactor, just agree to my request, okay?"
Tong Airui picked up his phone and made a call right in front of Joyina, "Take her people to Unit One, give them good food and care... What? Yeah, I got it."
Tong Airui hung up, then sized up Joyina, "Princess Beidi, Joyina?"
"Nonsense! Whose mouth is so quick? I’m not a princess. Some granddaughter just happened to share my name. You’ve got it wrong."
Yi Luowa couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
Tong Airui stifled his own laughter, "Big granddaughter..."
"You’re taking advantage of me!" Joyina fumed, "I was even planning to thank you for saving my life, but now I don’t feel like it anymore!"
"I wasn’t trying to save you. That five hundred yuan, I gave it to my wife."
"Even better. Now I don’t owe you anything." Joyina looked relaxed as she turned to Yi Luowa, "Benefactor, let’s go eat."
Tong Airui reached out to block her, "Hold on. Things aren’t resolved yet. I’ve detained your people, but as the ringleader, you need to come too."
Joyina blinked her bright blue eyes, "What evidence do you have to prove I’m the ringleader? When they were roughing people up, I was standing to the side yelling at them to go easy. I’m a law-abiding citizen!"
Yi Luowa shook her head at Tong Airui, "Stop teasing her. She came from so far away. Let’s just treat her to a meal."
The wife had spoken, leaving Tong Airui no choice but to relent. He gestured politely, "Your Highness, after you."
Joyina took one step forward but quickly stepped back, "I’m not a princess. I’m Joyina!"
Yi Luowa sighed, patting her hand, "Stop it. We all know you’re not a princess. I’ll take you to eat foie gras."
Joyina perked up and nodded happily, wrapping her arms around Yi Luowa’s as they bypassed Tong Airui and headed out.
Yi Luowa exhaled deeply, marveling at the fact that she’d unknowingly saved a princess. If this had happened years ago, she might have been startled, but fortunately, with all the royalty she’d met lately, she was becoming immune to surprises.
Mi Chenshuo was sitting in his car observing the situation outside. Tong Airui had told him to head home. He had dropped off Su Qing and Mianmian but, still uneasy about Yi Luowa, had driven back. Seeing that things were under control with no significant injuries, he was just about to leave when Tong Airui, Yi Luowa, and Joyina walked out together.
"What’s Third Brother doing here?" Yi Luowa looked at Tong Airui skeptically. She hadn’t had time to ask about Mi Chenshuo’s situation yet either.
"Whoa—am I seeing things?" Joyina’s eyes widened, "Benefactor, is that Mi Chenshuo?"
Yi Luowa’s lips twitched, "No!"
"Don’t lie to me; I may not be educated, but I’m not blind!" Joyina giggled. "I have hundreds of pillows at home, every single one with Mi Chenshuo’s face on it. If I can’t even recognize him, I don’t deserve to be his diehard fan!"
Yi Luowa couldn’t help but smile at her.
Joyina handed her phone to Yi Luowa, "Benefactor, help me take a few photos with my idol later. Last time, some little fairy had a crappy phone and still managed to take a dozen pictures with my idol. I was so angry! This time, I’ll take twenty!"
Yi Luowa stared at her with a straight face.
Joyina tilted her head, puzzled, "Benefactor, what’s with that expression?"
Tong Airui, laughing so hard his shoulders shook, interjected, "Because that little fairy you’re talking about is her!"
"What!" Joyina’s eyes widened. "Benefactor, I didn’t know it was you! Anytime I see my idol taking photos with other women, I just mentally block it out..."
