Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 299 - 273: This is Called the Cutest Height Difference! (Part 1)
"Hmph! Not taking your picture!" Yi Luowa puffed her cheeks in anger as she shoved her phone at her.
Joyina pouted and turned to Tong Airui, "Husband of my benefactor, can you lend a hand?"
Tong Airui’s smile instantly vanished. "You called my wife a little fairy, and now you want my help? What do you think?"
"I don’t think so! But even without you guys, I can manage just fine!" Joyina grinned as she walked toward Mi Chenshuo.
Mi Chenshuo stepped out of the car, not particularly to greet the ditzy princess, but to quickly say hello to Yi Luowa before heading back.
"Idol, I’m Joyina. We’ve interacted on Weibo before. Do you remember me?" Joyina looked up at Mi Chenshuo with some difficulty.
Mi Chenshuo gazed down at her, wanting to explain that his Weibo is managed by someone else and that he had no idea whom they’d interacted with.
Seeing that Mi Chenshuo didn’t recognize her, Joyina looked a bit crestfallen, but quickly perked up, her fighting spirit reignited. "Can I take a couple of photos with you?"
With his signature smile, Mi Chenshuo nodded. All these motions were just for show, but to Joyina, they felt extraordinarily heartfelt.
Seeing her starstruck expression, Mi Chenshuo politely said, "Hold on, I’ll just have a word with them for a moment."
Joyina’s gaze followed Mi Chenshuo closely. Remembering Yi Luowa’s words, she quickly ran after them, fearing Yi Luowa might not let her take photos with him.
"Luowa, you’re not scared, are you?" Mi Chenshuo asked with concern.
"Of course not. Just one little girl – not enough to scare me." Yi Luowa laughed and glanced at Joyina.
Joyina scrunched up her lips.
Mi Chenshuo gave her a doubtful look. "Was all that commotion your doing?"
Joyina waved her hands frantically. "No, no! I just wanted to thank my benefactor. My... subordinates are a bunch of brainless idiots. When security stopped me, they got into a scuffle. They just hit them, like, lightly."
Mi Chenshuo frowned slightly. Lightly? From what he saw earlier, a few faces had clearly swollen.
Mi Chenshuo turned to Yi Luowa. "Now that I know you’re okay, I’m relieved. I’ll head back now."
"Alright, Third Brother, you should go home early." Yi Luowa smiled, knowing he had things weighing on his mind.
"Idol! I..." Seeing that he was leaving, Joyina quickly raised her phone to remind him.
"I haven’t forgotten. But don’t be so reckless next time – it leaves a bad impression." Mi Chenshuo handed the phone to Tong Airui.
Joyina nodded fervently. "I’ll listen to my idol!"
Tong Airui glanced at their height difference and chuckled. "Taking a photo of you two might be tricky. Might only get Third Brother’s face in the shot."
Joyina shot him a glare. "This is what’s called the most adorable height difference! Are you teasing me for being short? I’m about the same height as my benefactor!"
Yi Luowa bit her lip. "I happen to be a standard height!"
"Exactly! My benefactor is perfect in every way! My idol and your husband are just way too tall!" Joyina beamed at Yi Luowa. "Benefactor, how about you take the photo for us?"
"Stop buttering me up! I remember all the things you said earlier!" Yi Luowa rolled her eyes.
Tong Airui raised his hand and called over Dapeng. "I’ll get someone skilled to help you."
Dapeng, quick-witted as always, brought over two bricks for Joyina to stand on and began snapping away.
At the beginning, Joyina looked a little stiff, but after a few shots, she completely let loose, striking all sorts of poses, completely self-absorbed.
Mi Chenshuo cooperated good-naturedly. This had always been his approach – treating fans like family.
"Alright, that’s enough!" Third Brother, concealing his inner turmoil, had to force a smile throughout. Tong Airui couldn’t help but feel a twinge of sympathy.
Dapeng responded, handing the phone back to Joyina.
Joyina thanked everyone profusely, turning to wave at Mi Chenshuo as he got into his car to leave. The little one spun around in excitement. "Dream achieved at last! Hahaha..."
Yi Luowa chuckled and shook her head, pulling her toward Tong Airui’s car.
After dinner, the little one clung to Yi Luowa like glue, shadowing her every step.
Resigned, Yi Luowa took half a day off and, along with Tong Airui, brought her to the manor to meet Huo Li.
As soon as Joyina saw Huo Li, she burst into tears. "Sister, when will you get better?"
"I’ll recover very soon." Huo Li tousled her hair with a smile, accidentally pulling off her little red curly wig.
Huo Li looked at the wig in her hand and almost burst out laughing. "Hahaha! Perfectly good hair, and you’re wearing such an ugly wig!"
Joyina pouted. "I wanted a new look after leaving home. I thought I looked great, but everyone says I’m ugly."
Huo Li let down her golden blonde hair tied up on top. She looked her over, left and right, and chuckled. "Like this, you look human again!"
Joyina pursed her lips, staying silent.
Yi Luowa laughed, "You should’ve seen her when she first arrived. Black lipstick and smoky eye makeup – looked just like some little demon."
Joyina slowly turned her head toward Yi Luowa. "Hmph. I call you a little fairy, and you call me a demon. You’re really something else!"
Huo Li tapped her laughingly. "That’s her for you – tit for tat, or she can’t sleep at night."
Joyina nodded with a grin. "Oh, I’ve known for ages what kind of person she is. But I’m magnanimous and wouldn’t stoop to her level!"
"You’re pretty fun, little one!" Huo Li looked at her warmly. "Stay and keep me company for a few days?"
"Okay!" Joyina nodded firmly.
Yi Luowa stared at her for a while before asking, "You’ve known what kind of person I am for ages? But we’ve only met twice, little one."
Joyina’s eyes flickered as she replied, "Yes, just twice."
Yi Luowa put her hands on her knees, looking intently at her. "Little one, I just remembered something. You once said I was very smart. Where’d you hear that?"
"Ah! Did I say that?" Joyina stubbornly denied it.
Yi Luowa fixed her gaze on her and asked sternly, "You haven’t once asked how Huo Li got injured. Did you already know?"
"I don’t know anything! I didn’t even know she came to Xiawu. I was just saying I wanted to go to F Country to visit her!" Joyina pouted and looked toward Yi Weiyang, who was chatting with Tong Airui. "Mr. Yi, she’s bullying me!"
Yi Weiyang smiled and glanced over.
"You shouldn’t have called me a little fairy! Teasing you is fair game, and yet you run off to tell on me? Lame! I’m done playing with you." Afraid her uncle would scold her, Yi Luowa promptly sat down like nothing happened.
Joyina puffed her cheeks and glared at her.
Yi Luowa pinched her soft cheek and grinned. "I’ve got class tomorrow. What’s your plan? Staying here or coming with me?"
"If I follow you, can I see my idol?" Joyina pouted as she asked.
Yi Luowa shrugged. "Hard to say. Your idol’s extremely, extremely busy these days."
"Then I’ll stay with Huo Li Sis and come find you on your day off."
"Alright."
That night, Yi Luowa and Tong Airui stayed at the manor. Once they returned to their room, Yi Luowa quietly asked, "Do you think there’s something suspicious about Joyina?"
"Her identity checks out. She’s a bonafide princess. Because of civil war in her country, her father was dethroned for nearly a decade, during which she and her mother went into exile in F Country. It wasn’t until her father regained the throne that they were reunited."
Yi Luowa frowned slightly. "Poor kid. But I still feel like she’s hiding something from us."
"She’s a princess. If she wants information, it wouldn’t be hard to get."
Yi Luowa shook her head. "If she’d gone through normal channels, she wouldn’t be acting so guilty."
Tong Airui pulled her to sit down, smiling. "Leave this to me to handle. Don’t waste your energy over it..."
"Knock, knock..." Just as Tong Airui was trying to reassure her, there was a knock at the door. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Yi Luowa quickly went to open the door and saw Joyina standing there. Smiling, she asked, "Why aren’t you resting yet?"
"Can I talk to you?"
"Of course! Where do you want to talk?"
Joyina beamed. "Let’s go to my room!"
Following her to the adjacent room, Yi Luowa waited as Joyina hesitated before saying, "Luowa Sister, I need to confess something... I’ve wanted to repay you for a long time. But my dad, afraid I’d run into bad people, had someone investigate you and Huo Li Sister’s entire history before letting me come.
I didn’t mention it earlier because I know Huo Li Sister’s temper. If she found out my dad looked into her, she’d blow up. You won’t blame my dad, will you, Sister Luowa?"
Yi Luowa gently patted her cheek, chuckling. "Of course I understand. Look how tangled up you’ve gotten. Honestly, I was teasing you more earlier."
"Hehe..." Joyina exhaled a huge sigh of relief. "I was just worried you’d think I was some bad person and then ignore me. Now that it’s all cleared up, I can sleep soundly. You may excuse yourself!"
That tone shift was faster than flipping a page!
Yi Luowa clasped her hands together at her waist and performed a deep curtsy with a smile. "Then your servant will take her leave."
Joyina giggled, "Isn’t it supposed to be ’Yes, Your Highness’?"
"That’s what the men say. Women do it my way." Yi Luowa gave her a sly grin and pushed open the door to leave.
