Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 142: IKERTH!!!!! II
Ikerth and Jamie stood face to face with one another, a distance of merely 10 metres separating them.
It was something that they could both cross within a split second and if they did so, the final battle for dominance over Zotov would erupt right here and now.
In fact, this was what everyone present had thought.
This conjecture was only reinforced in the next moment when the skies parted open once more.
The sight of the planet’s moon could be seen high up in the daytime sky and what followed was the descent of Zotov’s Race King, Terion Cluxdius.
Dressed in his metallic-hued robes, the man’s rust-coloured eyes glowed with light as he gathered law energy around his fists in preparation for battle.
Dornik sent out orders to have all their forces rush towards Ladoa and Tasir did the same.
The dragons all discarded their humanoid forms and returned to their true forms, flames swirling in their maws as they geared up for a fight.
Jamie and Ikerth ignored all that was going on behind them as the two men walked up to each other, their auras intensifying with each step.
By the time there was only a metre left of distance between them, the space behind Jamie had distorted to the point where it had almost shattered while the ground around Ikerth had turned to molten rock.
"..."
"..."
Azure blue eyes filled with mirth locked gazes with Reddish brown eyes barely containing their hatred.
Finally, after a moment that seemed like an eternity, Ikerth spoke.
All Forces.
The dragons readied their magic and skills, waiting to be commanded to Attack, however, Ikerth proceeded to do the exact opposite.
Fall back to Eawin
"...what?"
Tasir who was at the forefront of the army was dumbfounded, and his bewilderment was shared by both the Dragon Army and the Zotovian forces.
But in the next second, the Dragon General snapped out of his daze and turned around, shouting to the Dragon Army.
[You heard it! Fall back, NOW!!]
He understood that Ikerth was very ANGRY right now, and defying Ikerth’s orders when he was not in a good mood was the pinnacle of stupidity.
"You think we’re going to let you?!"
Terrion cared not for Ikerth’s reasoning and charged forward, constructing an array of Tier 6 Magic circles which he prepared to unleash.
"?!"
In an instant, a surge of violet-hued flames swept toward his magic circles, obliterating them entirely. Following this, a hand seized his arm with such strength that his bones audibly creaked.
"No."
That was all Miranda said before she pushed Terrion away. The man stumbled and nearly fell over, but Dornik intervened and held him up before questioning her.
"Why?"
Some Liberation Front Transcendents could not hold themselves back anymore and charged forward. But the instant they did, a powerful force pressed down on their bodies and slammed them all to the ground.
Unlike the Zotovians, the Dragon Army surprisingly did not have any trying to charge into battle.
The knowledge that if they dared to do so, they would be instantly burned to ashes by Ikerth’s Flames of Destruction stopped them.
Jamie and Ikerth continued their standoff for the next fifteen minutes as the Dragon Army foot soldiers swiftly boarded their airships, while the more powerful Sovereign and Transcendent Dragons took to the skies with their wings.
Finally, Ikerth turned around, glancing at Jamie and Miranda one last time before erupting into a pillar of flames and disappearing.
It was then that the pressure that grounded all the Zotovian Transcendents was released and they slowly struggled to their feet.
Nevertheless, they were all dissatisfied at having missed a chance to end things once and for all. Terrion was also dissatisfied and he voiced it out in annoyance.
"Why did you stop me?! His avatar was Unstable! We could have taken him out now!!"
Don’t shout at me, boy.
Miranda’s heavy voice fell on him and the Race King felt his soul shake due to the power contained within.
Dornik and the other Zotovian Transcendents all dropped to their knees, heaving deep breaths as they tried to withstand the pressure emanating from Miranda’s form.
As for everything below Transcendence, they straight up passed out.
Jamie understood the reason for Miranda’s annoyance and moved to calm her down. He wrapped his arms around her waist from behind and whispered something in her ear.
No one heard it, but whatever it was, it was enough to make her flinch lightly before turning around and playfully hitting him in the torso.
Jamie just chuckled at her reaction before turning his gaze towards Terrion as he spoke.
"You could have taken him out now, you said.
Then you all would have died."
"?!"
The Transcendents could not comprehend how Terrion fighting against Ikerth would have resulted in their deaths.
It’s one thing if it was their True Bodies, but their avatars were evenly matched in power. They didn’t think Ikerth would win so easily.
"Ikerth’s unstable Avatar would have exploded the moment you killed it.
The explosion would have had enough power to sink the continent to the bottom of the ocean. But this is not a problem since we’d already resolved to sacrifice a continent to take him out."
Jamie walked up to Terrion and held out his right hand, the same one he had punched Ikerth with.
"It’s this close and you cannot perceive it? I’m disappointed."
With a disappointed expression, the Hybrid shook his hand lightly. It was then that Dornik and Terrion noticed that there were black Translucent flames still constantly burning his arm.
Seeing this, Miranda clicked her tongue and her annoyance returned, making Jamie smile wryly.
Dornik and the other Transcendents could not comprehend what those flames were, but they instinctively knew that touching them meant True Death.
Terrion felt like those flames were the antithesis of all his powers.
"What...is that?"
"The reason why Ikerth has been away for so long. The reason why you Zotovians could fight back this much against a Dragon King with Intergalactic Influence like Ikerth.
The reason why he pulled back his forces and left only one General here.
He needed people to man his other numerous Territories while he was away."
Jamie looked down at his arm which was continuously being burned by the black flames, however, he was healing so fast that it appeared that nothing was happening.
However, both he and Miranda knew that he could not keep this up infinitely.
"Anti-Law Power.
An essence of utter destruction. Something unlike the Law of Destruction.
Something...dead.
Ikerth...he’s in this Universe’s Dead Zone."
Terrion’s eyes widened in shock when he heard this. He had been informed about the ’Dead Zone’ by Seren.
It was a part of the Universe that was irreparably damaged. A completely dead portion of the Universe.
Laws didn’t work there and powers were corrupted and eaten away by the desolated space.
It was a ’True Void’ within the Void.
Seren had told him that the only reason why he could consider ’Supermassive Black holes which could devour entire galaxies’ to be a problem, was because he had never seen the Dead Zone.
There was another piece of information that she had not told him—the fact that the ’Dead Zone’ was the aftermath of a battle between the Six Hybrids against a powerful foe, hundreds of millions of years ago.
Anyway, entering the Dead Zone corrupted one and that corruption was the reason why despite Ikerth’s flames being red, the flames burning Jamie’s hand were black.
"Ikerth probably constructed this Avatar while he was in the Dead Zone and it got corrupted as well.
This corruption would remain unless he purges them in due time.
The reason the Avatar was unstable was because the corruption was disrupting its construction and it was eventually going to eat the soul fragment he had inside it.
He called for a retreat because he needed time to purge the corruption from his avatar and reconstruct its body.
Until he does that, we cannot fight him otherwise it’d be a pyrrhic victory. That’s why we let him go." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Jamie did not inform them of the fact that he currently could not deal with the Dead Zone’s power as he was.
He could not ’shrug off’ the corruption like normal so he had to be careful.
It was capable of dealing permanent damage to Souls, deforming them, and Jamie did not want to find out if that worked on him as well.
Besides, Jamie was going to take advantage of this time to absorb the fragment of power he gained recently and use the Mermaid Tears to awaken his Water Attribute.
"It’s a race against time."
"Do you have everything you need?"
Jamie nodded in response to Miranda’s question before turning his back and walking away.
"I have reached it before in the past and have proven my qualifications once, so I can do It again.
Besides, the Universe doesn’t dare bar me from achieving Transcendence again."
