Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 100: Jamie’s Defeat
💯
The ground beneath his feet cracked open and chains of blood surged out, wrapping into Jamie’s feet and imbuing him with a localized effect of the Blood Curse he was currently afflicted with. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Due to this, he couldn’t teleport even a metre away from his position.
**KAABBOOMMM!!!
Smoke and flames billowed to the skies, obscuring the light of the sun while the shockwaves radiating omnidirectionally were blocked by the Transcendent who was preventing the damage from their fight from reaching the city.
Despite being subjected to so many attacks that riddled him with holes and blasted off some body parts, Jamie was good as new in a few seconds, teleporting high into the sky and raining down azure flames on all the transcendents who were below him.
"Water Rune Magic: Shredding Cyclone Lance."
Jamie unleashed his powerful Tier 5 spell at them, and the cyclone-covered lance surged forward with incredible force, but unlike Pirantu who was beaten back by this, these transcendent could handle the spell with relative ease.
One of the Transcendents countered this with a conjuring of an equally powerful spell, sending forth the mass of flames that collided with the Shredding Cycle Lance in a dazzling spectacle.
The air crackled with intense magical forces as the two spells met head-on, and then, with a wild burst of energy, both spells nullified each other.
The water cyclone and the opposing magical manifestation dissipated simultaneously, leaving behind a residual magical aura that lingered in the air.
"Hmm...I guess I’d have to go with a more direct approach, even if it means them discovering what I intend to do."
With that thought, Jamie proceeded to teleport around randomly, throwing the transcendents off before finally warping to the ground and placing his palms on the earth.
When they sensed him on the floor and intended to attack, Jamie infused magic power into the ground and formed a magic circle around him.
"Earth Nova!"
***KAAABOOMMM!!!!
A surge of azure-coloured magic power erupted from Jamie’s position, giving birth to multiple concentric circles of explosive energy.
The very earth seemed to rebel against its natural state, unleashing its fury in a series of powerful shockwaves that rippled outward.
The outer rings of the spell’s devastation expanded rapidly, each detonation adding to the cacophony of destruction that tore through the terrain, upheaving soil and stone in their wake.
"Fuck! He’s trying to destroy the city!"
It was now glaringly obvious what Jamie’s intentions were, from using Black Starfall to splitting the city in half with Galaxy Sword and now using Earth Nova.
As the air crackled with energy, debris scattered in all directions, forcing the transcendents to cancel their attacks in favour of containing the spell’s devastation.
They couldn’t let Jamie destroy too much of the city’s infrastructure.
Luckily for them, they were able to stop it before the devastation expanded past the Void Gate Facility’s compound.
Even so, Jamie had still laid waste to more than 50 square kilometres worth of area in the short moments the Earth Nova was active.
What’s more, he had collapsed the underground tunnel network they used to move cargo to and from the Void Gate.
Or rather, that was Jamie’s main aim from the start.
Seven Spears of light hurtled through the air and pierced Jamie’s body all over, riddling him with holes and scattering crimson liquid all over the area.
"Blood Magic!"
"?!"
"Fuck! He’s got a vampire side too!"
The blood that spilled out from Jamie’s body compressed and condensed to the absolute limit, into eight tiny balls of crimson liquid that shot towards the Transcendents.
At the last moment before it hit them, the blood orbs were all suddenly pierced by needle-thin spears of condensed blood, courtesy of the half-vampire transcendent.
Jamie’s blood orbs exploded, splashing his blood onto the bodies of some of the transcendents and giving them the same sensations that a normal human splashed with acid would feel.
But this didn’t last for long as the human swordsman whom Jamie had stated ’could see the future’ used his time powers to reverse the state of their bodies to a few seconds ago, before they were hit by the Hybrid’s blood.
"Pseudo Authority of Swords: Ring of Piercing Death."
A single sword made purely of universal law energy ruthlessly pierced through Jamie’s heart from behind.
In the blink of an eye, there were two swords—then four—then eight.
A ring of swords, numbering over a hundred at first glance materialised around him and hurtled towards the Hybrid at hypersonic speed.
"Fire NOVA!!"
Blue flames erupted in a brilliant display of destructive power, consuming the approaching swords in a fiery maelstrom. The conflagration, however, did not cease its fervour, radiating outward to engulf the immediate surroundings.
In the face of this, one of the transcendents quickly invoked their water magic, conjuring a wave of surging water that cascaded towards the encroaching flames.
The watery counterattack quenched the azure inferno, confining the destruction to within the Central Sector of the city.
"This is getting irritating."
The transcendent who used the water magic to counter Jamie’s flames spoke as she released her spell, her face contorting in displeasure at Jamie’s attacks that seemed more focused on causing as much collateral damage as possible.
’If we didn’t have him confined to this area, I fear he may have just teleported to a different sector and blown it up.’
The Transcendents had been trying to take advantage of their superior numbers to deal with Jamie, not using their full power as that would erase Void City from the map.
But Jamie didn’t have that to worry about, and he was actively trying to destroy their city’s infrastructure.
"Fuck this!"
The dragon lost his patience and flared his aura wildly, causing the Light Spirit to turn to him with shock.
"You’d destroy the city if you do that! You almost destroyed the Research Facility earlier too!"
"Well, we clearly can’t deal with this guy if we don’t do that much!
Killing him is impossible! We have to seal him, but the amount of damage we need to deal before we can do that is not possible if we keep pulling our punches!"
An array of flaming and lightning arrows surged towards the dragon as he spoke, but he simply coated his arm in flames and expelled the flames outward, creating a barrier that blocked the attacks.
The other transcendents took similar actions to block the projectiles coming for them, when the dragon spoke out.
"Half of us should focus on containing the destruction."
Bright red flaming tendrils snaked out from the sides of his mouth as he continued in a deeper voice.
[The rest of us would end this.]
The instant he spoke, the other Transcendents all moved.
Save for the Half Vampire who was focused on keeping Jamie from breaking open another spatial gate and running, the remaining four surrounded the Central Sector and put up barriers with all their power.
As for the other five, they began charging their attacks.
The Elven Bowwoman pulled on the string of her bow, generating a massive arrow of greenish-gold light and aimed it towards Jamie.
The Light Spirit called down a giant three-pronged spear of light from above, while the dragon, having assumed his full draconic form, charged up his breath, swirling around the destructive flames in his maw.
The other Elf who wielded a spear pulled back her spear that was encased in multiple layers of pure unattributed aura, enough that the air around the weapons seemed to distort.
Lastly, the Human Swordsman activated his Pseudo Authority, causing a pillar of light to surge upward from his blade, high into the sky as it parted the clouds.
Simultaneously, the five of them unleashed their attacks towards Jamie, converging with a force that could only be described as ’Cataclysmic’.
The collision of the energies culminated in a devastating explosion, an eruption of power that sent shockwaves rippling through the surroundings, warping the air and space itself.
Witnessing the impending devastation, the other transcendents fortified the barriers they erected, containing the explosive release of energy within a confined space.
The barriers shimmered with the resilience of each transcendent’s power, forming a protective cocoon around the epicentre of the explosion.
For moments that felt like an eternity, the transcendents held their collective breath as the barriers strained against the relentless force.
Slowly, the overwhelming explosion of power began to subside, gradually waning until the distorted space returned to its natural state.
Jamie’s form was revealed amidst the destruction, he was beaten, battered and bruised.
Both arms and his left leg had been consumed by the explosion, leaving only remnants of charred flesh and exposed bone.
A substantial portion of his torso had been obliterated, the absence creating a haunting void where blood, shattered bones, and organ fragments spilt onto the ground.
"Finally!"
The Dragon shouted out as he returned to his humanoid form, while the half-vampire sighed and released his blood curse.
Though the damage to the Void Gate Facility was substantial, it did not change the outcome of this battle.
From the very outset, victory for the Transcendents was an inevitability.
