Beyond the Bloodline-Chapter 101: One Sealed Hybrid, Coming Right Up!
Despite Jamie’s current critical state, these transcendents who knew of him as the ’Estean Hybrid’, didn’t think he was going to remain like this for long.
Though their law energies infused with their Pseudo Authorities were delaying his regeneration, they knew it was only a matter of time before his full body was restored.
In fact, they could see the parts of his body where his limbs had been severed from bubbling up as new flesh began forming.
This meant they had to act fast.
The ground cracked open and chains of light energy surged out, wrapping around Jamie’s body and restraining it to the ground.
Next, the dragon blitzed in front of Jaime while forming a magic circle on his palms. Five grey rings radiated outward, with intricate draconic runes written on them, each one lighting up with the dragon’s power.
’You gotta be kidding me!’
He exclaimed internally as he saw Jamie’s arms and legs were already half regrown by the time he was done casting the spell, cold sweat dripping down his back as he thanked his stars he learnt it.
[Wyrmlock Enigma.]
A series of shimmering draconic runes swirled around Jamie’s body, glowing in vibrant hues as they converted to form a complex seal.
With their union, an invisible force wrapped around Jamie’s body, constraining the Hybrid’s physical and magical capabilities—a temporary measure until they could find a better way to restrain him.
"To think we’d use this much effort against a Sovereign."
"That man is someone both feared and adored across the Galaxy and the greater Universe; it’d be weirder if we could deal with him the same way we’d deal with a normal sovereign
The Zotovians present finally came closer to where the sealed Jamie was, questioning the dragon about who the man was, but their answer came from the Light spirit instead.
"Someone who even Dragon King Ikerth is scared shitless of."
The dragons both glared at the Light Spirit but the man was undaunted by their words.
"What? It’s the truth. There’s no Race King who doesn’t harbour fear towards him. Even the ones who he’s friends with."
Things were about to turn into an argument when the Elf shot an arrow in between the two to separate them before speaking.
"This is not the time for any silly arguments.
What matters is that we’ve caught him.
His goal here was definitely the Void Gate, but we don’t know exactly what he wanted to do with it."
"His presence here is also news to us."
"It’s probably related to why Pirantu disappeared not long after she arrived...she might have run into him."
The two dragons spoke up after the elf, quickly connecting the dots and finding out why their comrade had gone missing.
"Could he have been trying to destroy the Void Gate?"
"None of us can destroy that thing without using the powers of our real bodies. That applies to him as well."
"Then what if he was after the mines on the other side?"
When the Human swordsman asked that question, the expressions of the Esteans present quickly turned dark as a conjecture formed in their minds.
""The Extractors...""
"That’s what he was after?!"
One of the non-Estean elves spoke up when he heard their words and the two dragons nodded.
"It makes sense. The man is said to be involved in their creation, and considering his feud with His Excellency, his targets are most likely the Extractors.
If he gets close to any of them, we have no idea what he can do to them."
Silence pervaded the area for a few moments after they spoke, each one with different thoughts running through their heads.
One thing they all agreed on, however, was that first and foremost, they needed to deal with the aftermath of the destruction their battle had on Void City.
◇ ◇ ◇
"Oh, you’re finally awake."
Jamie’s eyes fluttered open to meet a pair of purple eyes staring back at him. Those eyes fit perfectly onto a face that he recognized all too well.
"I had quite the unpleasant dream, but your face being the first thing I see upon waking up has made all my irritation vanish like smoke."
"Really, Jamie?"
Miranda replied as she poked the side of his cheek with her index finger, before sliding her hand up to his hair where she ruffled it a bit.
Just as she was playing with the hair of the boy resting on her lap, the light of remembrance flashed through her eyes as she recounted something that had happened when Jamie was asleep.
"Your dad came over earlier."
"Wait...what?"
Jamie’s drowsiness vanished completely and he almost sat up, but Miranda held his head back down and continued speaking.
"When he saw you sleeping like this, he started his usual talk of how the two of us should just stick to each other forever."
She spoke of the Westley Clan Leader’s words with a bit of a chuckle, remembering the look the man had on his face when he was present earlier.
"Sticking with you forever...I might actually like that."
Miranda spoke with a smile as she looked back at Jamie, and it took the boy all his willpower to prevent his expression from turning difficult.
Looking directly at her, Jamie could see the emotions in her eyes.
The way she looked at him was the same way that the young ladies of the other Werewolf Clans all looked at him.
Just that hers felt a bit more...
’...pure? That’s probably my bias for Miranda speaking.’
Long before the two had been turned into Hybrids, when they were just normal teenage werewolves.
...okay, they weren’t normal, but Ancient Breed Werewolves, but it still didn’t change the fact that they were just teenagers.
At that time, Miranda had already fallen for Jamie.
But there was just one problem with this:
The girl herself didn’t seem to have realised this.
Jamie thought about how he felt when he woke up to see Miranda’s face, and the edges of his lips curled up slightly.
’That doesn’t seem bad at all...’
Jamie himself didn’t seem to have realised something either.
While he had been the subject of affection for many, he had never harboured such feelings for another person.
This was why, just as Miranda was clueless about the way she felt towards him, he was equally clueless about the fact that he reciprocated her feelings.
"Yeah...I remember this."
Jamie spoke as the realisation that this was just him dreaming about the past dawned upon him.
"This was long before we started dating.
I remember the reason why Miranda finally realised how she felt. It was because of her..."
He remembered a certain red-eyed witch whom he would come to meet a few weeks after the event he was dreaming about happened.
"It was because of Olivia, huh?"
With that thought, this scene faded away from Jamie’s mind, and everything once again turned dark.
◇ ◇ ◇
Jamie’s eyes fluttered open to meet with a pair of green eyes, belonging to that of an elf he didn’t recognize.
"Geh!"
When she saw how the Hybrid’s expression changed, and the way he reacted upon seeing her, the Elf’s brow twitched in anger and she felt like hitting him.
She couldn’t be blamed, after all, Jamie’s expression looked like he had just seen the most disgusting piece of shit on the entire planet.
That wasn’t the way to react to seeing someone, but for Jamie who had just dreamt of seeing Miranda as the first thing after waking up, the sight of a totally different person sent his mood to rock bottom.
An hour had passed since his defeat at the hands of the Transcendents, and his body had long since regenerated to pristine condition.
He couldn’t move it though, as he had been strapped to a chair and bound in a straitjacket made out of magic power sealing materials and then bound with aura-suppressing chains that dealt continuous damage over time to him.
Looking down a bit, he noticed that there were some suppressants that restricted his use of universal law energy as well.
He looked back up, at the half a dozen transcendents who were watching him like hawks and spoke.
"This is pretty bad, isn’t it?"
"For you, it is."
The elf replied after calming herself down and taking a step back from Jamie, while the man turned around and spotted a Transcendent he hadn’t seen earlier.
’Her ears look like a fish’s fins...guess that’s the Mermaid.’
He returned his gaze to the elf who was in front of him, titling his head a bit to the side as he asked.
"What planet are you from?"
"...Zotov."
"Oh my! That means there were three of you, huh?"
Looking at the other elf who was walking towards them, Jamie questioned.
"You’re Estean, right?
Who’s your Master? Tannivh? Aimer? Rilitar?
Rilitar hates dragons so it can’t be her. She wouldn’t send her subordinates to a world under a Dragon King."
While Jamie was calling the names of Elven Race Kings and Queens he knew, the Estean elf placed a hand on the Zotovian’s shoulder and spoke.
"Don’t entertain him with a conversation.
And most certainly..."
She pulled the other elf away from Jamie and turned her face away as she continued.
"Don’t look him directly in the eyes."
