Chapter 102: Miranda’s ‘Pet’ Butterfly

From her expression, it was fairly obvious that she had made that mistake in the past and had ended up under Jamie’s spell.

"Even if he’s sealed, his Vampiric Charms and Compulsion still work even if he can’t use his energy."

"..."

Jamie remained silent as he analysed the two Transcendents in front of him.

’They’re on guard. Even though they have me sealed and restrained, they’re still ready to erupt into battle at any second.’

Jamie could confirm that there were 11 Transcendents present in Void City and the ERE zone, and 6 out of that number were watching him.

’Wait a sec...the Mermaid’s here. Does that mean I’m in the ERE zone?’

He tried looking around to see if there were any windows near him but the room he was in lacked any of those.

Jamie was deep underground in a Ruindeum prison crafted to deal with Zotovian transcendents, and not in the ERE zone like he guessed.

The Dragons weren’t stupid to imprison him inside the place they knew he was clearly after.

The man noted the appearances and races of the other transcendents, and updated the information he had in his mind.

’The First operation in the Alliance and I get the wrong intel. It certainly isn’t looking good for this Alliance.’

From the information he had from Dornik, he was supposed to meet:

Two Estean Dragons; one of which turned out to be a halfling, One Elf who turned out to be Estean, One Mermaid from another world, and two Zotovian Humans.

But there was an extra Non-Estean Dragon, a second Elf who was Zotovian, One Light Spirit, One Human, and a third male elf from some other planet he didn’t know of.

The Human Transcendent whom Jamie had noticed could use the power of the law of time, was above ground, dealing with the aftermath of the battle and the mass destruction they had caused.

The dude had exhausted himself rewinding as many things as possible, back to their original states. But a lot of things destroyed with law energy could not be restored due to the energy interference unless he used an Authority which he currently could not use.

Just as Jamie was tabulating the information he had, one of the Fire Dragons; the one who seemed to be their leader, entered the area while speaking to the Half-Vampire, Half-Dragon.

He used a different language as he spoke, perhaps an attempt to prevent Jamie from understanding what he was saying but it would have been better for him to have taken the conversation elsewhere.

The language he was using, just so happened to be one Jamie was involved in creating.

A few things had changed, but the base was still the same. What’s more, Jamie had a language comprehension skill, so the changed parts were auto-translated.

From what they discussed; Jamie arrived at a conclusion.

’They tried to inform Ikerth about my presence, but they couldn’t because for whatever reason, Ikerth is in a place where contacting him is not done easily.’

The dragon spoke of them using special means to contact Ikerth, and worst-case scenario, one of them would have to go in person to speak to the Dragon King.

’That’s not something I want to happen.

With how much that guy hates me, he might break out of whatever’s holding him and come over here in his true body.

I can’t have any Race King meet me in person till I surpass Transcendence once more.’

Jamie sighed lightly as he began analysing the multiple seals on him while thinking about how bad the situation was.

’I want to stop them, but the problem is that they’re Transcendents. Do I have to break out my Fifth Privilege already? I was saving that for Ikerth.’

Now, Jamie was beginning to regret letting that witch take his power.

’Maybe I shouldn’t have let her do that.

But if I didn’t, then Angela...’

The man sighed multiple times, causing the transcendents to gaze at him strangely, but he simply leaned his head back and closed his eyes.

He then proceeded to do something that none of the Transcendents present knew he could do.

’Mira, I need help here.’

◇ ◇ ◇

[Mira, I need help here.]

Miranda who was raising her tablet from the table stopped her actions mid-way, before putting the tablet back down on the table and replying to Jamie’s voice that suddenly rang out in her head.

’Jamie? Telepathy? When was the last time you used this?’

She was lightly surprised at Jamie using this Technique that came with his Higher Consciousness, but the man wasn’t ready to reminisce now.

[We can talk about that later.

First of all, I’m in a bit of a bind.]

’A bind?’

[Yes, I’m literally bound to a chair right now.]

’...are you exploring a new fetish or something?’

[Obviously not!]

Miranda chuckled lightly when she heard Jamie’s response, though, on the outside, it looked like she just suddenly started laughing to herself, giving Dornik and the other First Class Commanders strange ideas.

’I know, I’m just kidding. What really happened?’

[Turns out there weren’t Five Transcendents in Void City, but Ten.

Five more Transcendents you guys didn’t tell me about.]

The woman’s expression changed when she heard Jamie’s words. She cast a side glance at Dornik for a moment before speaking out loud.

"Five extra unaccounted transcendents, huh?"

"?!"

"What?"

Naturally, they reacted to the words she suddenly spoke after a minute of silence, with Dornik’s face showing the most surprise as the man was confident he knew of every non-Zotovian Transcendent on the planet.

[I’ve got seven of them watching me like hawks right now.

If I want to break out, I’d need a diversion or something that can take their attention away from me for a while.]

"How long do you need?"

At this point, Dornik and the others had obviously realised the woman was speaking with someone else; definitely Jamie.

[I’m analysing the seals right now, but the way I see it. 10 seconds, 15 max.]

It sounded like a short time, but the Transcendents were all within less than 100 metres of Jamie.

They could move that distance and back more than 15 times in 15 seconds.

"Fine. I’d send someone."

[Gee...thanks.

Love ya, bye!]

He cut the connection off like it was a normal phone call and Miranda only shook her head silently before turning to Dornik who had a questioning gaze on her.

"I recall telling you that if you kept on reacting every single time a transcendent avatar descended, they’d eventually figure out you could somehow detect them and take action against that.

This is the end result: Five more Transcendents. With intermediate stages among them."

"..."

Dornik remained silent as Miranda had indeed told him this when he had first met her, but the man still kept his guard up against every transcendent’s descent he detected.

Now, her prediction had come to pass.

"Luckily for you, you have me."

She spoke as she leaned back on her chair, making the others present wonder just what she wanted to do about the five newly appearing transcendents.

’She wants to fight them herself?’

That was the thought that came to Dornik’s mind, but Miranda’s intention was very much different.

"Jamie was saying something about summoning, wasn’t he?"

Such words escaped the woman’s lips as she brushed her fingers against her butterfly necklace pendant.

At the same time, the energy of an abstruse universal law escaped her body and swirled around her arm.

|Lillie, mind coming over for a bit? |

Dornik and the others felt as if Miranda wasn’t just speaking to their ears, but also to their souls as well. The sheer amount of power infused in those few words was so great that even transcendents like them could have been blown away if Dornik had not reacted to protect them.

"What in tarnation are you doing?!"

The man couldn’t help but shout out, as he had sensed something descend into Zotov a second after Miranda spoke.

Looking at her, there was nothing different about her, except for the fact that there was now a simple purple-winged butterfly flying around her head.

Sure, it was a bit bigger than normal, but there was nothing different besides that.

The delicate hues of the butterfly’s wings created a mesmerizing display as the creature gracefully fluttered through the air.

However, looking at it, Dornik felt his hair stand on end.

He didn’t know why, but his senses warned him that the creature was dangerous.

As soon as the butterfly landed on Miranda’s finger, he understood why.

**CRACK!

Dornik blinked multiple times with a dumbfounded expression, even cleaning his eyes as if to confirm that the space around the butterfly had not just cracked.

The sheer amount of energy radiating from its body increased in intensity, distorting the fabric of space and bending the World Laws that governed Zotov.

Golden chain constructs, formed with the energy of the universal law of causality burst out from the cracks in space and surged towards the butterfly, but Miranda glanced at the chains and they suddenly stopped moving.

"Lillie, read the room and tone your aura down a bit."
