Chapter 99: 1 v 10 II

The ground caved in, creating a depression that radiated outward in concentric circles. Smoke and dust billowed into the air, obscuring the crater with an ominous shroud.

Amidst the lingering debris, seven magic circles materialized above the newly formed crater, each one resonating with distinct elemental energy and casting a brilliant glow against the haze of dust.

In a synchronized display, beams of elemental magic descended from the circles, converging on the epicentre where Jamie lay battered, delivering a barrage of destruction that further transformed the crater into a chaotic spectacle of devastation.

"Of all days to get my arm attacked; a day I’m not wearing any of my old suits." 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Jamie’s voice rang out from behind them, his silver hair covered in dust particles and blood dripping from his severed arm.

The military uniform he had commandeered was now torn up a bit, as it simply wasn’t built to withstand the kind of attacks Jamie had just tanked.

The Hybrid was about to make another silly quip when a Ruindeum-crafted spear pierced through his back from behind, courtesy of the elf whose solar plexus still hurt even after all this while.

Without hesitation, Jamie moved, spinning around anti-clockwise and ignoring the further damage that caused him.

He then swung his left arm diagonally and spatially sliced the spear in two, before going to deliver a full powered slap to the face of the elf who had stabbed him, using so much force her body was knocked into the ground and rebounded back into the air.

She didn’t take any physical damage though, just a bit of mental damage from the humiliation of being slapped so casually.

"Ho-!"

**BOOMM!!!

Jamie delivered on serving of Azure Flare Thunderstrike on the side of her face to shut her up, fully aware that she’d only get off with a few bloody scratches.

Pressurized water spears descended on Jamie from above, but the hybrid only summoned wormholes to suck them into nothingness, once again showing that snapping his fingers to use his ’Void’ technique was not really necessary.

Holding up the still bleeding stump of his arm, Jamie shouted.

"Get over here!"

The human transcendent dashed straight towards him with breakneck speed, charging up a Pseudo Authority attack when Jamie motioned as if trying to shoo him away.

"I don’t mean you—"

The moment he heard those words, the transcendent leapt to the side, barely in the nick of time to avoid Jamie’s fist from punching the back of his head with another Azure thunderstrike.

"—I meant my arm."

Jamie had simply delayed his healing in an attempt to use the severed arm to attack someone, but it seems that the transcendent was a lot sharper than Jamie gave him credit for.

The arm stuck back onto his body, healing in an instant while Jamie held the right arm with his left as he activated one of his ’Basic attacks’.

’Sequence #3: Carve.’

He spun around with the arm stretched out, carving out the space the magic circles surrounding him exited in before facing his palm to the ground and clenching his fist.

The ground trembled as a gigantic piece of earth was carved out of the ground, pulling along with it the buildings that were constructed there and all the Ruindeum stored in those buildings.

Jamie tossed this mass into the air and used gravity magic to round it before swinging his arm downwards.

He looked up to see the dragon charge up a stream of flames in his mouth and made the split-second decision to change the nature of the attacks.

"Change of attacks, we’re going with a bootleg meteor shower."

Jamie flicked a stream of flames up into the sky that collided with the incoming meteor and blasted it to bits before the dragon’s breath did so, causing down metallic rain of molten metal and blue flames.

But as expected, the transcendents easily blocked all the fragments that came down their way without much stress.

Leading the continuation of their attacks was the human swordsman who launched a flurry of attacks at Jamie, moving so fast the other transcendents could barely follow his sword.

Jamie’s body was cut up all over and blood spilled out but the wounds healed instantly. The human once again attempted to cut Jamie’s arm off, but the Hybrid wasn’t gonna let himself be damaged in the same way again.

"Once bitten, twice—"

**SCHLCK!!

"—shy?"

Three spears of light that seemed to have not existed until the very last millisecond, pierced through Jamie’s chest from the centre and the sides.

A volley of arrows rained down on him in the same instant, but those were handled with his void portals—or they should have if the human swordsman had not sent out a multitude of slashes at barely perceptible speed that sliced the portals in two.

"...that’s not good."

"Indeed, it’s not."

The dragon spoke as he flashed in beside Jamie and used his claws coated in destruction energy to slash at Jamie’s back, gouging into his flesh while the arrows rained down on him and pierced his body all over.

But before the dragon could get in his second attack, Jamie released a surge of aura that knocked him back a few dozen metres, providing enough time for Jamie to ’eject’ the arrows piercing his body and then do the same with the three spears.

He phased to avoid the swordsman’s slash before jumping in the air and blitzing towards the Void Gate.

"Make it or break it"

The transcendent’s gave chase but Jamie threw the bloody spears at them, before creating an array of portals and began shuffling them around, placing them in front of their movement trajectories and trying to make them run or fly into the portals.

"Pseudo Authority of Swords: Thousand Strikes."

"Fuck."

Jamie cursed as the Human swordsman sent out a thousand sword strikes, each one infused with so much sword law energy that it cut Jamie’s portals to pieces and saved the transcendent the stress of navigating the portals.

’Should I, or should I not?’

This question bounced around in Jamie’s head as he moved to avoid the giant earthen golems wielding swords of light that attacked after him, in tandem with the two transcendents who created those constructs and the swordsman who could cut his portals apart.

’Fuck it, I’d just wreck the facility as much as I can.’

"Black Starfall."

He activated a skill that mixed his gravity control with his spatial control to create a massive gravitational vortex in the sky.

This vortex served as the focal point for multiple miniature spatial distortions with ridiculous gravitational pulls that began drawing everything in their vicinities and crushing captured objects.

The blocks that made up the buildings in the Void Gate facility were violently ripped off and sucked towards this miniature black hole that ruptured the spatial fabric around them.

The skill served its purpose in deterring some of the transcendents whom he summoned a few dozen around, but that left the others, especially the human swordsman at large.

’Why did one of the intermediate stages happen to be a law of swords practitioner?

Fuck it, I’m breaking it out.’

As soon as Jamie thought that, a black veil covered the entire area. Shrouding the entire void city in deep impenetrable darkness that even the transcendents could barely see in.

’Galaxy Sword.’

Jamie unsheathed this weapon of spatial destruction and swung it down towards the head of the human, intending to bifurcate the man’s body.

"?!"

But Jamie’s expression quickly turned to shock as he saw the human cancel his attack and bend his body backwards to avoid Jamie’s sudden attack.

Looking at the swordsman’s eyes and seeing them glow blue, the Hybrid cursed.

"Damn, he can see the future too?!"

Jamie had just unleashed a full-powered slash that ’deleted’ the ground where his sword touched permanently, and then went on to create a massive fissure that split Void City in two equal halves; so he was off balance, even if it was just for a second.

And that second was the time frame the Transcendents were after.

**BAMMM!!!

The dragon flashed in and kicked Jamie in the chest, sending him hurtling through the air. Without even dropping his leg to the ground, he was already unleashing a breath attack after having used delay teleportation.

A scorching breath enveloped Jamie’s body, its searing intensity burning him all over. Flames danced around him, licking his skin with unrelenting heat while the air itself shimmered due to the intensity of the dragon’s fiery onslaught.

Jamie’s body crashed down onto the ground, covered all over in third-degree burns, but his body began its rapid process of self-repair, healing all the burns in the blink of an eye and leaving no trace of the dragon’s fiery assault.

"Damn monster, even his avatar has this ridiculous immortality."

The Zotovians watching from afar couldn’t help but feel chills down their spines as they saw Jamie heal completely from the dragon’s breath, his body returning to its previous start without a scratch.

But despite this healing, the Hybrid was very limited in what moves he could make, as he had ten feet feet-tall humanoid golem swinging down a sword of light on him from his right, dozens of elemental projectiles coming in from the left, while two transcendents attack from both front and behind at once.
