Being Op With My Broken System: All Limits Have Errors-Chapter 55: Core rank
Chapter 55: Core rank
Fabio noticed Alex casting a spell and immediately tried to move away, but he wasn’t fast enough. A strong force suddenly grabbed him before he could even take a step, and his body was lifted into the air again.
Because of this, the star pattern behind Fabio disappeared, and the vines that were going to bind Alex also vanished into sparks of green light.
Fabio’s eyes widened, and a look of unwillingness appeared on his face as he tried to summon his stars while being held in midair.
Seeing this, Alex began to close his fingers slowly as if he were making a fist.
"Ahhh!"
A painful scream rang across the field, everyone looked at Fabio, whose face showed a pained expression. His hands pressed on something invisible around his body as if he was trying to pull himself out.
Alex stared at Fabio in the air with an indifferent expression, slowly clenching his fingers together.
"Garhhh!"
Fabio screamed even louder, and cracks began to appear on the thin yellow barrier that was protecting his body.
"You bastard, let me go!" Fabio stared down and yelled at Alex with bloodshot eyes; he felt like his body was being squeezed by a huge hand, and he could not escape.
Alex didn’t say anything and slowly continued to close his hand; his action resulted in more pain from Fabio, and the boy’s screams shocked the spectators.
They were horrified by the scene. The students were starting to see the space element in a new light, even someone like Fabio was helpless after he was caught!
The teachers looked between Alex on the ground and Fabio in the air with worried looks on their faces.
They should probably stop these two before things get worse.
Laura’s fists were tightly clenched as she looked at Fabio, who was screaming without regard for his image; his yellow barrier was now covered in cracks and looked like it would shatter any moment from now.
"Alex." She breathed through gritted teeth, a look of fury in her eyes.
Back in the ring. Alex’s face was cold as ice, it was as if he could not hear Fabio’s screams as his fingers continued to clench at a slow pace.
’That’s right, feel pain. For all the suffering you caused Alex, this is just a small repayment.’ Alex was inwardly grinning at the sight of the struggling and screaming Fabio.
The students continued to look at the scene with held breaths, just when it looked like Fabio’s protective barrier was about to shatter.
"Enough!"
One of the teachers shouted, and the two of them immediately moved. One of them went behind Alex and placed a hand on his shoulder while the other jumped toward Fabio in the air.
"That’s enough, the fight is over." The teacher who was standing behind Alex stared hard at him and said, with a complicated look on his face.
As for the other teacher, being an Expert rank mage, he was easily able to jump to Fabio’s height and forcefully pulled him out of Alex’s control.
Or that was what everyone thought.
Landing on the ground with Fabio in his arms, the teacher stared at Alex in shock, his pupils trembling.
When he had reached Fabio and tried to pull the kid away, he had realised that he wasn’t even able to make Fabio’s body budge! The force that was holding Fabio was so powerful that the teacher wasn’t able to overcome it instantly.
Only after Alex had stopped using telekinesis and removed the force around Fabio was he able to take Fabio away.
’A-am I hallucinating? He’s only a student, how’s that possible?!’
While the teacher was doubting himself, the result of the fight had been announced,, and Alex had left the ring without looking back.
The field was quiet as Alex left the ring, no one cheered, and no one made any excuses for Alex’s victory this time.
They had all been convinced, Alex wasn’t the old Alex that they knew!
It took a while for the students to recover from their shock after Alex had left, no one dared to say anything bad about him anymore, and they only shot silent glances at him.
Ignoring all the eyes, Alex focused on the next set of students who were called to the ring, but he was inwardly pleased with the reaction of the students.
They must be terrified now after his fight with Fabio. Speaking about Fabio, Alex knew that he had gotten carried away during their match.
Luckily, the teachers had stepped in on time and had saved Fabio from suffering any further damage.
More fights were carried out during the following hours, and it was soon Laura’s turn.
Hearing their numbers being called by the teacher, Laura and her opponent walked down to the ring and stood opposite each other.
And just like the previous day, Laura’s eyes traced Alex, and she gave him a hateful glare before returning her attention to her opponent.
"Begin!"
Right after the teacher’s voice sounded, Laura’s opponent, who happened to be a girl with a dark blue cloak around her shoulders, immediately summoned her star
The shining five blue stars of the water element were like beautiful stars behind her.
But just before she could start to form her star pattern.
Boom!
Laura’s body exploded with powerful mana that sent ripples in all directions.
All the surrounding students and teachers were shocked when they sensed the pressure of her mana, even Alex was surprised.
The students were unable to tell what rank Laura was. This meant that she had surpassed them by a major rank!
As for the teachers, their eyes widened when they sensed Laura’s mana; it was a pleasant surprise.
The Core mage rank! Laura had reached the Core mage rank
In a corner, teacher Arnold grinned in satisfaction.
"As expected of a genius, it was bound to happen sooner or later." He paused as his eyes roamed around for a bit before landing on Alex, and a snarl instantly appeared on his face as he continued.
"Not like some trash who got a moment of luck but is already acting like he’s everything, hmph!"
As for Alex, he was indeed surprised that Laura had reached the Core rank; her speed was the fastest in the entire school.
But looking at the reaction of everyone, Alex found it funny.
What would their reaction be if they found out that he was already at the Expert mage rank?
Back in the ring, Laura’s opponent was startled by the powerful aura that Laura was releasing. A strong pressure enveloped the girl, overwhelming her senses and causing her blue stars to disappear as she stumbled backwards.
Her eyes were wide open, and her face showed fear as she looked at Laura.
"I-i give up!" The girl mustered her courage and screamed.
Hearing that her opponent had given up, Laura withdrew the pressure she was releasing. She looked at her opponent, whose legs were still shaking, and snorted before walking away.
This incident once again set waves amongst the students, causing them to temporarily forget about Alex’s case.
The current big question was when did goddess Laura reach the Core mage rank?!
"She’s the first student to reach the Core rank, as expected of my goddess."
"Now that she’s a Core mage, is there still a need for her to continue the competition? They should just directly give her a spot among the top 5, no one can be her opponent."
"I agree with you, anyone who faces her would be a fool to not forfeit the match instantly."
"Hey, what do you think will happen if goddess Laura fights Alex? I have a feeling that we’ll see something exciting!"
"Hey, don’t lower goddess Laura’s image. Even though senior Alex is now powerful, he won’t be goddess Laura’s opponent!"
The students discussed heatedly, they felt it would be a hysterical match in the history of the Dragonic magic academy if Alex and Laura fought.
Although they hated to admit it, most of them already consciously accepted that Alex was now one of the strongest students in the academy after reaching the Adept mage rank.
His space element was too strong for the others to contend against!
After Laura’s match, a few more students came up to compete before the academy closed for that day.
Due to the amount of shock that the students had received during Alex’s and Laura’s matches, the next fights didn’t excite them at all.
They just stayed back to watch since they couldn’t go home yet.
Like the previous day, Alex left first immediately after the last match ended.
On his way, he didn’t encounter any students who came to take revenge on him. Alex left. It was a pity, he was actually looking forward to someone coming to stop him.
Alex sighed like an old man who had experienced nihility as he walked home.
He got home after many minutes and found his mother talking with someone in their living room.
"Alex, you’re back! Come, come, say hello to my friend. She’s the leader of the explorer group that I want you to join, and she’ll be the one to look after you when you go on missions."
