Being Op With My Broken System: All Limits Have Errors-Chapter 56: Aunt Mia
Chapter 56: Aunt Mia
Alex moved his eyes to the other party. It was a woman who looked to be in her late twenties with beautiful long brown hair that dropped over her shoulders and a well-curved face, her skin was smooth, and there were no signs of ageing on her face.
She didn’t look like someone who should be childhood friends with his mother.
’Well, mages age slower than usual, and mana can help maintain the skin, so it’s understandable for her to look younger.’ Alex thought to himself.
This woman had an eye patch covering one of her eyes, but that wasn’t able to hide how beautiful she looked; she was in a white top and black pants. Her long legs were crossed while her two mountain peaks bulged her top.
After a moment of observing this visitor, Alex realised that she was an Expert mage just like him.
’Not bad, she can be considered a top expert in Balon City.’ Alex thought to himself, though he was stunned to find out that his mother knew such a person.
She was more connected than he thought.
As for why they didn’t choose to ask for help from this person, Alex guessed that his parents didn’t want to put their problems on others; everyone had their pride and bottom lines.
"Hello, nice to meet you." Alex faced the woman and bowed slightly, his tone was very respectful and made his mother smile in satisfaction.
The woman with an eye patch was also smiling slightly. While Alex was observing her, she was also checking out Alex.
’ He’s well-mannered, it’s just sad that his talent as a mage isn’t too good,’ she sighed inwardly.
She was aware of Alex’s situation from his mother; she really felt sad for Alex and decided to accept him and personally keep an eye on him. After all, this was the son of her childhood friend.
"Hello, I’m a friend of your mother; we’ve been friends even before she met your father. You can call me Aunt Mia.
Your mother already told me everything, and I’ve agreed to take you into my group. You’ll be under my care whenever we go out on missions, so listen to this, Auntie, alright?" She said with a faint smile, her one eye gazing at Alex with the gentleness of an elder sister.
"Thank you, I’ll listen to you." Alex bowed and said. He wasn’t particularly happy about having others around him, but this was for his Mom. Plus, Aunt Mia didn’t look that mad.
"If you have nothing to do, come with me to the Union building so you can register as an explorer before going to meet the rest of the group," Mia added.
Alex agreed and went to his room to change out of his uniform. His mother and Aunt Mia continued chatting in the living room.
Alex returned not long after in long grey pants and a black sweatshirt, he looked even more handsome than when he was in his uniform.
"Hmm? I see someone should be bringing a daughter-in-law home soon." Mia teased when she saw him, and his mother giggled in response.
Alex’s face immediately turns red as he frantically denies her words.
This made the two women laugh even harder, and Aunt Mia soon left with Alex after saying a few words to his mother.
Getting outside, Alex saw that a car was already waiting for them.
Aunt Mia said that she had called one of her subordinates to come pick them up when he went to his room to change. Alex didn’t say anything and followed her.
The car didn’t look too expensive and was only a bit better looking than the ones used as taxis; he sat at the back with Aunt Mia while a middle-aged man occupied the driver’s seat.
Alex saw that the driver was at the Core mage rank, and he felt that it wasn’t too bad. Maybe their explorer group was strong.
"Head to the Union building." Aunt Mia said to the driver after getting in.
"Okay, ma’am!" The driver replied energetically and started the car, they were soon leaving the outskirts.
Along the way, Alex couldn’t help but ask about their explorer group.
"Our group isn’t that powerful but isn’t that weak either, we have another twenty members and some of them have reached the core rank." Aunt Mia didn’t mind and answered, she was very easy to get along with.
Alex made an "oh" sound after hearing her response and proceeded to ask what the name of the group was.
"The Rising Wave explorer group." Aunt Mia said with a hint of pride in her voice.
Alex "..."
’Why did that sound familiar?’ He thought to himself, he was sure that he had heard that name before.
After just a few moments of thinking, Alex’s expression changed as he finally recalled where he had heard that name.
It was when a scout of the group tried to recruit him as Mr Chen!
’So she was the leader who went to the magic university but was expelled. What happened and why was she expelled?’ Alex questioned in his heart; he knew this because the scout of the Dark Star group had mentioned it, although he wasn’t planning on saying it to her face, that would be rude.
Noticing Alex’s change of expression, Aunt Mia pressed her lips in a teasing smile.
"Why that face? You think our group isn’t well known?" She asked, she was aware of her group’s strength and guessed that Alex might never have heard of it.
Alex came back to his senses and shook his head.
"No, no, that’s not it. I’ve actually heard of it before." Alex tried to explain.
"Fufufu, you don’t have to explain. I was just teasing you, your reaction is so cute." She covered her lips and giggled.
Alex scratched the back of his head with a small smile, he felt that Aunt Mia was just like his mother; they liked teasing others.
While they chatted, the driver looked at Alex through the rearview mirror with a curious expression.
"Umm, who’s this kid?" He asked after some time.
"He’s going to join our group soon, you all will have to look after him." Aunt Mia curled her lips and said.
The driver was stunned to hear that, but his expression quickly returned to normal.
"I see. Hello there, kid, I’m Simon. You can call me Uncle Simon." The driver said with a full smile.
"Hello, Uncle Simon." Alex tilted his head slightly while saying.
He didn’t feel weird about addressing people he just met so respectfully. After all, he worked at a convenience store in his last life and was used to addressing those older than him with respect, plus, they were all going to be his seniors in the group.
"Hehe, good, good; I like that tone, if you need anything, in the future, just come to me." The driver said happily.
Alex thanked him before returning his attention to Aunt Mia beside him.
He stared at her face for a long time with a hesitant expression.
The woman noticed this and gazed at him with her one eye that showed with a mischievous light.
"Why are you staring like that? Don’t tell me you fell in love with this Aunt, your mother would kill me." She stated.
