Being Op With My Broken System: All Limits Have Errors-Chapter 140: End of first day
Another thing that Alex also discovered was the academy that Laura was now part of; it was the Blue Void Magic Academy, which was ranked third.
But she wasn’t part of the team of four representing the academy in the team mode, maybe she would be the one to represent the academy in the solo mode.
Alex still couldn’t figure out why Laura had left the academy to join another academy. Well, it didn’t really matter to him.
After the last match for the day which was around the evening, branch leader Clint came up to the arena once more to give a speech. He congratulated the academies that had won today and encouraged those who failed to do their best during the next rounds.
Another list was projected in the air after Clint’s speech; it was the current ranking after today’s matches. 13 academies had ten points while the rest were at zero.
The Dragonic Magic Academy was currently ranked 8th. Of course, this ranking didn’t represent their current strength; it was just the order in which the various academies had won their matches; it could change at any time.
After letting the list stay in the air for a while, it disappeared, and Clint announced the official close of today’s tournament; they would continue the next round tomorrow, and it was still going to be a team match the next day.
A thunderous sound of clapping filled the stadium as Clint left the arena. Soon, people began to leave the stadium to return to their various places.
Alex didn’t leave with the others from the academy, he made his way out of the stadium by himself. The buses that had brought them would only take them back to the Academy building and not their homes so why return with them when he could just go home directly? Besides, his family had come to watch the tournament too; he would just return with them.
It didn’t take Alex long to find his parents and sister within the sea of people outside the stadium. Numerous vehicles were currently entering the driveway, while countless people moved on foot; the space outside the stadium was flooded with people.
"Big brother!" Emily called out in excitement when she saw Alex walking over. She had immediately spotted him after he got close. Their parents also looked in his direction after Emily exposed him.
Alex flashed a warm smile at Emily as he approached them, he greeted his parents and patted Emily’s hair after reaching them.
His parents were also happy to see him; they were in a good mood, just like Emily, since Alex’s academy had won their match; they assumed that Alex would be happy too, since this meant that their academy had hopes of reaching the next round and getting a good result.
Alex only smiled faintly after hearing this. Happy for the academy? He didn’t care that they won, well, he didn’t really want them to lose either, since he wanted to complete the system’s mission, even though the reward wasn’t anything worth mentioning.
"Big brother, your classmates were so cool! That sister had long vines that she moved around, it was very cool; I want to be a mage like her!" Emily voiced out with shining eyes.
She seemed to have become a big fan of Amelie.
"Huh? Didn’t you want to be a mage like me after you awakened? Why did you suddenly change to someone else?" Alex faked a sad expression and said with a teasing tone, Emily’s face immediately became flustered. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
"N-no, that wasn’t what I meant! Of course, I want to be like you, big brother. But your element is so rare, and I don’t think I can awaken it. Big sister’s element would be easier; I’ll pray hard to get any of your elements!" Emily explained.
"Big sister? I didn’t know you changed me for another sibling already." Alex continued to tease her.
"N-no...I mean...ho...mom!" Emily stuttered as she tried to explain but nothing meaningful came out of her mouth as she spoke like a wife who was caught cheating. Out of frustration, she called out to their mother for help.
Their parents had soft smiles on their faces as they saw the play between the two siblings. Their mother stepped in after Emily couldn’t take it any longer.
"All right, enough teasing your sister. You know she only called your schoolmate that way because she’s older than Emily." Their mother said as she hugged Emily.
"Hehe, of course I know. That’s payback for when she tried to tease me." Alex stuck out his tongue and chuckled.
Causing Emily to snort when she heard that Alex was just trying to get back at her.
How petty!
A certain Archmage would have nodded fiercely in agreement if he heard this.
"If you really want to get the same element as your brother, we can get you an awakening stone with its concentrated element. That would increase your chances of getting that element." Zoran spoke up. Emily and Alex immediately looked at him when they heard this.
An elemental concentrated awakening stone!
"Really?" Emily asked with a face filled with excitement. She looked so adorable.
Zoran nodded and said that he would save up till her awakening time and conduct a private awakening for her.
In the corner, Alex’s eyes flashed as he recalled information about concentrated awakening stones. These were basically awakening stones with the gathered energy of a particular element stored within. The gathering of energy happens naturally and can not be made by humans.
The use of these types of Awakening stones was just as Zoran had said, it increased the chances of a human awakening the element that its energy was stored in the awakening stone.
Many wealthy people and big families would do this for their young ones during awakening, and it costs a lot of money to conduct a private awakening.
For instance, Alex had joined a public awakening which was held in the academy every year when new students wanted to join; he was very lucky to have awakened the rare space element.
The awakening stone he had used was a normal one, and even that had cost his parents over 200k Zen. Conducting a private awakening with a concentrated awakening stone at that would definitely cost 10 times or even a hundred times more.
Alex secretly decided to get the contracted awakening stone for Emily when she reaches the age of awakening, but money was a problem for this big brother.
"By the way, why weren’t you in the team that fought the match? Didn’t you make it in the competition?" their mother turned to Alex and asked.
Alex calmly explained that he would only be participating in the solo mode of the tournament.
"Oh, so that’s how it is." His mother mumbled with a look of understanding.
Just when the four of them were about to leave for their home, a figure approached them. It was Mia.
The woman was in a long coat and black pants, high boots covered her feet and her decorative eye patch on her face.
"Hello, hello, hope I’m not disturbing anything.." Mai waved at them as she approached, a smile on her face.
Behind her were some members of the Rising Wave group.
Alex didn’t know why, but she suddenly had a bad feeling when he saw Mia; the feeling was very strong in his stomach.
It was as if he was about to get caught doing something he shouldn’t.
"Mia, so nice to see you here." Their mother exclaimed when she saw her friend, she then added.
"Thank you for helping Alex during the auction, he told me how you helped him get these rings."
Mia "..."
Members of the Rising Wave group "..."
Alex was at the auction?
Alex "..."
"Damn, so this was why I felt something was wrong!’
Mia and the members of the Rising Wave group looked at the ring on Alex’s mother’s finger before looking over at Alex with a dumbfounded expression. They couldn’t recognise the ring. Was something like that at the auction?
Alex quickly wore a pleading smile, his expression begging them to play along.
The members of the group immediately understood that he had used them as a cover to sneak out at night, probably to meet up with a girl and had gotten these rings on his way back to fool his parents.
Hmm, their deduction had to be correct. So their youngest now has a little girlfriend, they would cover for him first and tease him later!
"Oh, the rings! You don’t have to mention, it was nothing." Mia said with a sweet smile. But to Alex, that smile looked like she was about to eat him up.
"Yes, yes. Alex is our youngest and it is only right that we look out for him." Joan added from the side and winked at Alex.
The others also gave him knowing smiles that made Alex wonder what they knew.
"That’s right, he’s like a junior brother to all of us, helping him is only natural," Simon said while grinning at Alex.
Alex "..."
’Now I’m more confused than you guys were.’
