Being Op With My Broken System: All Limits Have Errors-Chapter 139: Top academies
After crashing into the ground, the girl had yet to get back up when she felt something icy wrapping around her body and what felt like needles pierced her skin, causing her more pain.
Without looking, she knew it was Glen’s ice shackles. Blood immediately slipped through the several parts where the thorns on the ice chains had pierced and stained her uniform and the chains red.
The girl’s face contorted with pain from the coldness and the thorns piercing her skin, she didn’t dare to struggle as it would only cause her more pain. Her body stayed motionless as she was lifted off the ground after getting wrapped up in the ice chains.
With a twisted face, she looked at the Vine that had sent her flying and traced it to the green star pattern suspended in the air above Amelia. Not far away from Amelia was their earth mage who was wrapped up by the other vine.
Amelia had defeated him some time ago and had decided to help Glen.
A look of frustration appeared on the girl’s face after realising that they had practically lost the match with just two of their members left, and she felt unwilling.
The Dragonic Magic Academy was only ahead of them by one rank in the previous tournament. How come their strength became so different this time? It was depressing.
After defeating two of the team from HollowWay Magic Academy, Glen and Amelia went to help Jason and Ryan.
Ryan was doing relatively well against the wind mage from HollowWay as the two of them clashed. The wind mage would use swift feet to try to get close to Ryan and deliver a physical attack but Ryan wouldn’t give him the chance. Thanks to his fast casting speed, he was able to force the other party into retreating while he moved back as well.
This created enough distance between the two of them and allowed Ryan to react to his opponent’s assaults even though the other party was faster.
Amelia came to help Ryan. With one vine still binding the earth mage of the opponent’s team, she attacked the wind mage with her second vine.
It was now a 2 Vs 1 as Amelia chased the wind mage with her vine while Ryan kept casting water blades to attack the other party.
With two people now attacking him, it didn’t take long for the wind mage to make a mistake after he was faced with a water blade and Amelia’s vine at the same time.
With no time to think, he instinctively dodged the water blade as it would have caused more damage and then tried to kick the snake-like vine away.
But the moment his foot made contact with the vine, the vine wrapped around his leg like a fast spring and tightly locked him in place before lifting him off the ground and suspending him in the air.
The wind mage still didn’t give up and tried to cast Wind Blade so that he could cut the vine, but Ryan’s words stopped him.
Ryan had already formed another star pattern and was just a word away from sending a water blade at the wind mage in the air.
As for Jason and the fire mage, the fight was over almost immediately after Glen arrived. Before he came, Jason was already being pushed to his limit by the girl. A few burnt marks could be found on his uniform, and some of his hair had obvious signs of extreme heat affecting it. He was also sweating and breathing hard while his opponent, the girl, still had a calm look on her face.
It was obvious who was stronger between the two despite them having the same element.
After Glen arrived, he sent his other ice chain toward the girl. Jason noticed his arrival and had prepared himself.
The girl dodged the ice chain and quickly summoned her stars. She sent a fireball flying toward Glen before the ice chain could turn back to her.
Glen had to withdraw his ice chain to intercept the large fireball. Both spells clashed and exploded into hot mist in the arena.
But at this moment, the girl noticed several small tongues of flames had appeared around her, and her eyes widened as she instantly tried to jump away, but it was too late.
"Explode!" Jason’s voice rang out and a series of explosions followed right after.
The explosions enveloped the area where the girl was standing and the shockwave from the explosions sent her flying across the arena, a trail of smoke following behind her.
Thud!
She crashed into the ground tens of meters away from her previous location and didn’t get up right away. Several burnt marks could be seen on her uniform, and her face had turned black with smoke rising out of her hair.
It was a win for the Dragonic Magic Academy!
The referees didn’t hesitate to announce their victory as the name of their academy was projected in the air, a wave of cheers erupted through the stadium while the students of the Dragonic Magic Academy called out the names of the four.
While their victory hadn’t been as stunning as those academies in the top five, it was still a spectacular one thanks to Amelia and Glen.
They released the members of the HollowWay Magic Academy before getting off the arena and returning to teacher Christi who was waiting outside with a big smile on her face. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
It was their academy’s first match and first victory, definitely something worth being happy about; it was a good start.
Teacher Christi led them back to their academy’s sitting area, where the others welcomed them with cheers, and a sense of jubilation filled the air.
"Good job Senior Glen!"
"You did great Amelia, that was splendid."
"Hehe, you almost lost to a pretty chick, Jason; good thing Glen came to save you."
"Don’t mind him, that girl is a freak, good job on holding out."
"Ryan is the pride of water mages. Did you see how he was fighting against that wind mage?"
"Of course, how did you think he got to be on the team for the tournament instead of me? It’s because he’s a good water mage, even some fire and lightning mages would lose to him."
The students chatted with wide smiles, and they were all feeling happy.
The four of them returned to their seats with satisfied smiles on their faces.
"Good job, you all did well." The vice dean said to them after they sat down.
"Thank you." The four of them responded with smiles, Amelia’s eyes flickered with excitement even.
Teacher Arnold nodded his head as he looked at the four who had gotten the academy its first win, his expression took a 180-degree turn the moment his eyes drifted off to Alex, and he kept out a cold snort before looking away.
Alex "..."
He was just minding his business, yet this man was being an eyesore; he really wanted to punch him in the face.
’But would he survive it if I punched him? Whatever, I’ll just ignore him.’ Alex thought to himself before returning his focus to the arena, the next teams had already entered and were about to fight.
Hours passed as other academies came to fight against each other, one side claiming victory.
By evening, all of the academies had fought and the matches for today were over. Due to the uneven number of academies, one academy had to fight twice.
For this, the names of all of the academies that had lost today were placed in a single ball and mixed; the last academy that had yet to complete their match was then told to pick a name, which would be their opponent.
This was also a chance for the academy, with one loss, to redeem itself.
By the end of the day, everyone who had come to watch the tournament had been shocked by the strength of the top academies in the previous ranking.
The top four academies, to be precise, were the Sacred City Magic Academy, Golden Element Magic Academy, Blue Void Magic Academy, and Holy Cloud Magic Academy.
All of the students in the teams from these four academies were at the Core mage rank and had completely overwhelmed their opponents. The academies that had faced these four didn’t even catch a glimpse of victory; it was a total beatdown!
Someone in the team from the Sacred City Magic Academy even had the space element.
One had to know how scary the space element was, yet this person was at the Core rank which meant he could use space wall and space bullets! How were their opponents supposed to react?
That wasn’t the only shocking discovery, two students from Blue Void were actually summoners with the summoning element!
It was a nightmare for their opponents as they had to face four Core mages and four magic beasts. Two summoned beasts and two contracted magic beasts!
Even Alex was stunned when he saw this. He wondered if this was still the strength of a Magic Academy, why was the strength difference between them and other academies so huge?!
