Back To The 90s: The Resilient Daughter-In-Law-Chapter 2017 - 2035: A Chance Encounter with Xu Qigang
"Young Maiden? Are you alright? Did you hit your head just now and damage your brain?" Li Erhua asked cautiously.
Shen Zian slowly turned his head to look at Li Erhua. Hearing the other party call him ’Young Maiden’, he was mostly sure of his suspicion, "Give me a mirror."
"Who carries a mirror for no reason while traveling?" Li Erhua pursed her lips in disdain.
Someone sitting nearby heard the conversation, guessing that this young girl might have hit her head during the jostling and might be worried about her appearance. They promptly handed over a red mirror, the kind that’s trendy in the countryside and often bought for weddings.
Holding the mirror, Shen Zian was prepared, yet still startled when he saw the person in the reflection.
Indeed, he had swapped bodies!
The girl in the mirror appeared very young, at most around seventeen or eighteen, with fair and delicate skin, thick eyebrows, and big eyes, very pretty. Her skin was fair, not like a country girl, but more like a pampered city girl.
But looking at her outfit, a dark blue cotton jacket and pants, with patches on the elbows, her shiny black hair was messy, not like someone who cares to maintain a clean lifestyle, nor like a city girl.
"Young Maiden? What are you looking at?" Li Erhua thought her daughter got a hit, damaging her brain. Would she need to spend money on seeing a doctor? She didn’t have any money to spare.
Shen Zian swept his probing gaze over Li Erhua, and she looked even less like a city girl, just a very common country woman.
"I’m fine!" She closed her eyes and handed the mirror back to the person next to her.
Since she was here, might as well settle. Since she wasn’t dead, that was a good thing.
Shen Zian had an idea in her heart, intentionally rubbing her head, and said helplessly, "My head hurts, I want to rest for a bit."
Li Erhua, having just argued with someone, felt guilty because her daughter fell over while helping her in a fight, so she didn’t say anything and went to another carriage to fetch hot water.
Sitting in her seat, Shen Zian listened to other passengers’ whispers while recollecting and analyzing the battlefield’s situation in her mind. When someone mentioned that it had been several years since the reform and opening, she suddenly understood why she thought the train felt off earlier.
"What year is it now?" She suddenly turned around, grabbing the collar of the person in the seat behind her, urgently asking.
The person behind was a tall young man, who surprisingly was so easily lifted by her. His expression was stern, and his heart filled with astonishment. There were few who could lift him like that with their skill.
Shen Zian instinctively shouted upon seeing the man’s face, "Little Xu?"
She carefully examined Xu Qigang, her eyes slightly squinting, with more confusion growing in her heart. Why did Little Xu look so much older? Although his appearance hadn’t changed, his aura and demeanor had significantly transformed, looking at least twenty-seven or twenty-eight.
Just half a month ago, she had encountered Xu Qigang, who had just been transferred from the Northern Military District to the South Border Battlefield, while she was backline after completing a frontline mission. Back then, Xu Qigang was just a seventeen or eighteen-year-old youth.
Xu Qigang’s deep eyes looked at the girl in front, coldly saying, "It is now 1985!" He showed no expression, but inside he was filled with questions.
"1985!" This was a disaster!
How did ten years pass in the blink of an eye?
"Who are you? Do you know me?" Xu Qigang raised his hand, steadily pushing away the delicate hand holding his collar, and sat down leisurely. The guard beside him almost bulged his eyes out.
