Chapter 514: Chapter 99: About to be Completely Drained_2

In the future, don’t say you support Jeff, or you might be shunned by the party whenever there’s any hint of movement.

And how did Tommy respond to Delia’s question? He said it was all coincidental, just a little game he played when bored. He didn’t care if Jeff got elected or not, and the greatest gain from this game might just be advertising his black driver Martin’s consulting firm, making it famous throughout Florida. Then, while the firm’s reputation was high, he’d wait for the big consulting companies to come for acquisition or investment to make a windfall, which would serve as a cash bonus for Martin, who had been by his side diligently working for a $250 weekly salary for a long time.

He toyed with all the candidates in the Eighteenth District, just a pastime for when he was bored on holiday. That’s not something a sane person would say.

Delia rose from the massage bed and walked back to the living room with Tommy, settling on the couch. She picked up the cigarette case from the table, drew out a slim lady’s cigarette, placed it between her lips, and motioned for Tommy to light it for her: "Starting a TV station, telling me it’s just a game, having Susan set up a brokerage firm, a game, forcing me out of the computer industry to go back to the office and focus on women’s issues, still a game. Tommy, why not tell me how your ’big game’ is going?"

"You’re not my brother, lady, so I have no obligation to tell you everything," Tommy took a lighter, leaned over to ignite the flame, and brought it to Delia’s lips to light her cigarette. He smiled and said, "But if you’re willing to undergo sex reassignment and start college all over again, I could actually write you a Fraternity recommendation letter."

Delia took a drag from her cigarette, tilted her freshly massaged, smoother and whiter neck slightly, and aimed her chin at Tommy, who was bending down in front of her. She exhaled a puff of smoke onto his face, then her red lips curled upwards into a smile: "Doesn’t sound too bad. For the first forty years I’ve met plenty of young men, and now if I change sex and go to college, I could meet some young ladies."

"Right, it’s a stroke of genius. Besides, a real man in his forties or fifties might have a club that’s somewhat out of action, but you won’t have to worry about implanted prosthetics losing firmness like them. As long as you have the stamina, no number of girls will be refused," Tommy laughed as he stood up, tidily dressed himself, and walked towards the door. Passing by Van Kane, he gave his shoulder a pat:

"Mr. Kane, Trojan, please send the bill for the room fee, as well as the costs for Delia’s silk stockings and shirt that I’ve just torn, to Martin’s company. He will pay you. Consider these expenses as consulting fees. So, if tax officials call to ask, remember to get it right."

"Of course, Mr. Hawk," Van Kane nodded speechlessly, only responding after Tommy had brushed past him and walked a few steps away.

"Hey, you’re leaving just like that?" Delia lazily got up, walked to the bar, grabbed a bottle of liquor, tossed the cork away, poured herself half a glass, lifted it, and took a sip while calling out to Tommy.

Turning back, Tommy said weakly, "Odelia is flying to Miami this afternoon. To ensure I’d be willing to talk about why I hit the Cuban girl supporting him with a curveball, Bill Clinton isn’t just coming to Miami for a Democratic Party event; he’s bringing his wife along, even if it means getting Odelia drunk so she’d fly with them. So, Mama, please allow me to save some energy. Given that I will soon be completely drained, both mentally and physically, cut me some slack, OK?"

Tommy wasn’t lying. He was having fun with the election game, but Bill Clinton was somewhat troubled. Recently, he had been flying around the states, visiting Democratic influencers in every state to consolidate power. As soon as the Rosario Kennedy incident happened, Bill was informed. The Kennedy party postponed their reception, but Bill didn’t alter his itinerary. Learning from Stephen that Tommy Hawk, their low-profile benefactor, was in Miami and that all this was his mischief, Bill personally arranged a private, small gathering in Miami two days later.

Moreover, Bill personally called Tommy, inviting him to make sure to attend and assuring that once he arrived in Miami, he would handwrite an invitation and have it personally delivered to Tommy.

Tommy wasn’t interested in politicians’ parties. In fact, he had made it clear to Bill over the phone that it was just a game, but Bill, just like Van Kane, stubbornly didn’t believe Tommy was only helping Jeff because he had bumped into a plumber while making fake documents at a print shop and was trying to make some extra cash out of boredom.

Bill’s insistence on his attendance was just to figure out where exactly Rosario had wronged him and, if possible, to mediate their discord through Tommy. The problem was, Tommy had no beef with that woman named Rosario. How could he mediate?

And if they really did make peace, what about Jeff? If Jeff didn’t get elected, how could Tommy boast of his victory to that dog-couple, Jason Susie, and Bert from the Phoenix Society?

So, Tommy had no intention of attending Bill’s little party, but that guy had a vicious wife, who, to force Tommy’s presence, had coaxed Odelia to a reunion in Miami with Tommy. To ensure he would grace their presence, the damned unscrupulous attorney cajoled Odelia to fly with her and invited her to their couple’s reception, even getting Odelia to act coy on the phone with Tommy, threatening that if he didn’t accompany her, he would see his beautiful girlfriend on the arm of another man at the party.
