Chapter 515: Chapter 99: About to be Completely Drained_3

I have to say, the method used by Odelia to persuade him obviously had a higher success rate than Clinton’s handwritten invitation. Odelia hadn’t seen Tommy for a while, so how could she miss an opportunity to meet him? Tommy also couldn’t tolerate someone else escorting his girlfriend in public.

So the thought of having to do battle with Odelia tonight, as well as concocting a conflict for the ever-interfering Bill to mediate at the party to ensure Jeff wasn’t affected, while still ensuring Bill’s intervention was effective, really irritated Tommy. These two tasks combined not only required a lot of physical energy but also drained a lot of brainpower, squeezing him dry.

"If you want, you could have another round with Kane, or just take a stroll on the beach. There are plenty of Cuban youths with six-packs doing business with old lady tourists. Eighty bucks will get you a decent Cuban youth." Thinking of Odelia appearing in Miami this afternoon, Tommy immediately became all righteous in tone, one could tell he was a good man who kept his distance from women just by the sound of his voice.

"So, I’m your queen in bed, but once we’re up, I’m just an old woman in the eyes of you, the lovesick man." Delia smiled at Tommy:

"You really are an asshole, Tommy. But I’m not talking about what happens in bed. I’m talking about the fact that you still haven’t given me an answer. How am I supposed to explain to my colleagues why fortune has smiled upon Eliana Leti? Whatever Jeff wants, or whatever you want, just tell me something, true or false, at least so I can give them an answer. You know, they’re waiting for you to give them an explanation; politicians trust a quid pro quo more than luck that comes without any investment."

"The truth is, I’m just playing a damn game," Tommy turned to face Delia. "Stephen can vouch for that since I helped him with that crappy variety show; I don’t need anything, it’s just a game. Otherwise, why the hell would I help a fool run for office?" If you think the truth sounds too dismissive, here’s a false reason that sounds more like the truth: Why am I stirring up trouble in the Florida Democratic Party with a fool? That’s a damn good question because..."

Tommy thought for more than ten seconds before his eyes lit up: "If I recall correctly, at the moment in my life when I needed help the most, when countless poor souls in the United States needed help the most, a bunch of Democratic Party idiots in Florida delivered a heavy blow to my balls with the damned excuse of being ’unaudited’ and stopped the broadcast of Actor Corporation’s OSS software live sales ads across Florida. How’s that for a reason?"

"That really does sound more credible than your truth." Delia nodded, "It’s a good reason; you hate the Florida Democratic Party, so you deliberately chose a fool to torment them, and the pleasure wasn’t enough, you hope the Republican Party will add fuel to the fire. They’ll feel like the deal is feasible."

"Then let’s go with that reason. I’m not interested in figuring out which congressmen messed with my business back then; it’s not important at all, not in the slightest. What’s important is, I remembered that guy wore the Democratic Party badge, and I think that party sucks. They don’t know jack about software and need fresh blood, like Jeff, a fool who enjoys helping others as much as I do. He’s the talent the Democratic Party is sorely lacking." After speaking, Tommy opened the door, then paused his movements and turned back to Delia:

"Speaking of deals, where did you go to law school again, Delia?"

"Harvard," Delia answered nonchalantly, swaying her glass of wine.

Tommy pointed at Delia with his finger, smiling, "I just thought of a possible deal you and Odelia had before. Wait until my vacation is over, wait until you’ve helped Susan’s girls get through their nightmares, then I’ll talk to you about it. I promise you’ll like it."

After saying that, he disappeared into the private elevator outside the door.

"Looks like it’s going to be a long time before I can get back the money I fronted, and what the hell did Tommy mean with that last sentence?" Van Ster let out a breath and looked at his boss Delia, curiously asking.

Delia downed the remains of her drink in one gulp, "Maybe it’s about his angelic girlfriend; after being a women’s social activist for so long, Tommy’s considering giving her a second layer of armor, while keeping her busier, too busy to have time to call him to boring parties."
