Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 143 Do You Have a Wolf?
Emily had just called Marx to send an immediate guard for assistance, but Marx informed Emily that he could only muster his own men, as the natives of the Green Forest pack had sided with Susan.
Very well, eighty against five hundred. If a real confrontation were to occur, her chances of victory would be slim.
So, it was best to avoid a conflict. She needed to find a way to bring this situation under control.
"What’s happening, Emily?" Dolly pushed open the door to the study and entered, dressed in a tight-fitting civilian suit, her hair tied up in a loop and pulled back over her head. When they were kids, Dolly used to tie her hair like this before they had to fight someone.
"I think you can see the whole picture." Emily put down her phone and said, "Susan is leading the locals in a protest against me. It’s obvious she wants to replace me as Luna."
She should have taken precautions when Carl warned her last night. She simply hadn’t anticipated Susan moving so swiftly. Could it be that Susan was so eager to get rid of her?
Dyson and Gina must be hiding somewhere right now, smiling smugly. Isn’t that what they wanted to see?
Chaos, conflict, violence.
"She has no right to replace you." Dolly had closed all the windows in the room, and the protests outside had quieted down considerably, but still, the glass windows couldn’t completely block out the noise.
The remonstrance was as persistent as the buzzing of a swarm of flying wasps, and it was too loud.
"Susan is just the daughter of the previous alpha; she has no inheritance and no right to recall you," Dolly said calmly. "And you’re not just Luna; you’re also a princess. You’re on a higher level than Susan, and you could even exile her from the pack."
"It’s not as simple as you think," Emily shook her head slightly. "If they were truly afraid of my identity, they wouldn’t be protesting outside. They want to replace me as soon as possible and make Susan the alpha of the pack."
"This is simply a mutiny," Dolly frowned. "Why did Susan make such a foolish decision?"
"I guess it must have been a bad idea whispered behind her back," Emily replied. There’s no doubt that the person behind the bad idea was either Dyson or Gina, or perhaps both.
The most important thing now was how to defuse the conflict, and she didn’t want anyone to shed blood in the process.
Soon afterward, Marx arrived with a convoy of guards, who took up positions around the house to prevent protesters from breaking in. Carl went out to reason with the protesting men, but to no avail. They wouldn’t listen to Carl at all; the protesters only recognized Susan as their leader.
Carl tried to talk to Susan, but the rebellious girl ignored her guardian. The cries of protest were growing louder, and they were closing in on the house.
They were going to force Emily out of this house.
The door to the study was closed, and Marx, Carl, and Dolly were inside conferring with Emily.
"Dolly, you’re in charge of protecting the two princesses. If they make a rush for it, you’ll need to whisk them away," Emily began to deploy. "Marx, pick out five people to escort Dolly and the princesses out of the pack."
"Yes, Luna," Marx replied, looking worried. "Are they really going to make a move?"
"Just in case," Emily said. Even she wasn’t sure she could keep the protesters in check. If they lost their heads and rushed in, securing the princesses would be her first priority.
"Carl, did you get any useful intel?" Emily turned to look at Carl.
"I’m sorry, Luna," Carl said, lowering his head slightly, his eyes full of guilt. "I tried to reason with Susan, but she wouldn’t listen to me at all. She was like a possessed soul."
"So, is Susan really planning to boot me out of the pack?"
"They say you don’t have wolves and can’t lead them," Carl sighed, helplessness creeping into his face. "Yeah, their goal is to get rid of you."
"Who the hell told them Emily doesn’t have wolves?" Dolly asked angrily.
"I don’t know, but Susan seems pretty convinced Luna doesn’t have any," Carl said, looking at Emily uncertainly. "That’s not true, right?"
"Of course it’s not true," Dolly interrupted eagerly. "How could Emily not have a wolf?"
She had lost her wolf, but that was in the past. Memories flooded back, and the hardships and struggles of the past seemed vivid still.
"Then prove it to them," Carl said, clasping his hands together as if he feared for the worst. "They won’t stop until they see Luna’s wolves."
Carl’s eyes were fixed on Emily, awaiting her response.
"You want me to shift into wolf form in front of them, and they’ll back down?" Emily sneered. "Since they want to get rid of me, they’ll come up with endless excuses."
"Are we just gonna sit here and wait for them to bust in and bash our heads in?" Carl’s face flushed, and his brows furrowed.
But then, realizing the impropriety of his tone, a flash of remorse crossed Carl’s face. He quickly lowered his head and said to Emily sincerely, "I’m sorry, Luna. Please forgive me for what I just said."
"It’s alright, Carl," Emily said calmly. "Go and ask Susan to come and talk to me. Just me and her."
"Yes, Luna," Carl turned away.
Ten minutes later, Carl led Susan into her study, followed by two tall men in white T-shirts, who followed like knights at the queen’s side.
"Susan, get your men out. Leave us," Emily said, glancing at Max and Dolly, gesturing for them to exit as well.
When only Susan and Emily were left in the study, the atmosphere in the room shifted instantly. Susan, like a general, walked unhurriedly to the sofa.
She raised her chin proudly and said in an unwavering tone, "The negotiation time is only fifteen minutes." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Emily crossed her arms over her chest, leaning against the edge of her desk, looking at Susan with a serene gaze. "So, what do you want, Susan?"
"I want you to leave my pack," Susan said bluntly. "Now."
What a vain girl, Emily thought to herself.
"What’s your rationale?"
"You don’t have wolves," Susan affirmed. "You don’t deserve to be the pack’s Luna at all."
Emily smiled helplessly. "If I can prove that I have wolves, will you have your people leave and promise they won’t rebel against me again?"
"Then you have to prove you have a wolf first," Susan said.
Emily didn’t respond immediately. The innocent girl was being pushed closer and closer to the edge, and she had to put a stop to it.
"I’m going to talk to them," Emily said.
"Who?" Susan asked. "Your people or mine?"
"I’m Luna now, and the people protesting outside are essentially my people," Emily said, rising and walking out the door.
