Chapter 375: 375 Strange Henry

[Margaret’s Perspective]

"Turning your maid against you and getting her to cooperate with us indeed took quite a bit of effort, but everyone has weaknesses... Fortunately, hers were quite obvious, and that old foolish she-wolf was easy to control."

Henry had hinted so much, how could I still not understand? I glared at him with wide eyes and scornfully rebuked, "You despicable scoundrel, you really would stoop to anything! What have you done to Ruth’s mother?"

Upon hearing my rebuke and insults, Henry didn’t get angry but laughed instead, as if he found my current expression very amusing, "It seems I won the bet with Levi!"

This jerk had no intention of answering my question. I took a deep breath and looked at him with icy eyes.

"Don’t look at me with such resentment. It was just a harmless bet. I bet Levi that when you learned about this, your first reaction would definitely be to ask about that she-wolf first, and sure enough, I won."

He said, his smile deepening as he continued in a softer tone, "Levi said you wouldn’t be so naive, but as it turns out, my judgment of you was right. You yourself are now a prisoner, yet you still think of worrying about others. I really don’t know if you’re overly naive or just plain stupid."

I looked at Henry without speaking, not showing any signs of fear. After a while, I retorted with a cold laugh, "So what? What does it matter to you what kind of person I am? But for someone with a naturally rebellious personality like yours, it’s quite sad that you will never understand the pure and kind heart of a normal person."

After hearing what I said, Henry’s expression changed. He dropped his pretense of gentleness and said coldly, "I really hope you stay this defiant because it’s going to make the upcoming war with Donald much more interesting."

I was slightly stunned by his words, realizing I couldn’t quite grasp his meaning.

However, I didn’t pay much attention to this interlude, for delving into the thoughts of a madman can be rather disturbing.

Henry quickly left with a group of people, as if he was busy with some matter. During our conversation, a werewolf entered, holding several letters, seemingly urgent to hand them to Henry.

Although the werewolf didn’t dare to interrupt the conversation people in the room, I still sensitively noticed him.

I glanced at their disappearing figures from the corner of my eye and began to ponder silently.

Brand and I were not thrown back into the original wooden hut but were taken into a basement in this house!

This basement was very hidden, and the decoration could be considered comfortable and warm, definitely not like a normal place for imprisoning criminals.

A female Medical Practitioner treated the wound on my forehead again, and ice was applied to the swollen area of my face. Brand was pressed down on the sofa by the Medical Practitioner to clean his wounds, which looked very strange!

Did Henry suddenly come to his senses after being scolded by Brand, no longer planning to torture prisoners? I shook my head to dismiss this somewhat absurd thought, leaning on the sofa, feeling somewhat sleepy.

I don’t know how long it had been when the basement finally quieted down, Brand lay on the sofa and spoke in a steady voice, "Prince Henry is really very strange, don’t you think, Margaret?"

I was somewhat roused by this question, opened my eyes, and gently corrected, "He is no longer a prince of the Wolf royal family, don’t call him that, he doesn’t deserve it."

As I spoke, I didn’t plan to dwell on that issue. After thinking for a moment, I continued, "Who was that woman who talked to us first? She definitely has some kind of relationship with Henry."

Brand first nodded in agreement with my correction, then looked at me and asked, "Have you thought of something again? But I also feel that her tone towards Henry was very intimate, like a lover."

Upon hearing this, I shook my head in denial, "I don’t think she’s a lover, she seems more like a close elder. But besides Aunt Licia, does Henry have any female elders alive in this world?"

I mused to myself, a name suddenly flashed through my mind, but I quickly dismissed it. That woman had died many years ago in a rebellion, the information Donald gave me couldn’t be wrong, it couldn’t be her.

My thoughts were quickly disrupted by the sound of the door opening, a maid walked in carrying a tray of food. She placed the food on the table without saying a word, like a wooden doll stripped of emotions.

"Is there a toilet here?" I asked her, scrutinizing her closely.

The maid still did not speak, but she lifted her hand and pointed to a side wall of the basement, where there was a concealed door; I had noticed it when I first came in.

I pretended to be confused and looked in that direction, then continued to ask, "I don’t know how to open that door, can you help me? Also, if you don’t unlock our handcuffs, how are we supposed to eat?"

The maid seemed to be stumped by my questions, her expression faltered for a moment, then she got up and walked over to the secret door, pressing a concealed switch on the wall, revealing the bathroom inside.
