Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 277: Ironclad Proof
[Donald’s POV]
Austin’s eyes were on Licia, but his words were directed at Lillian.
Lillian hadn’t expected Austin to still be trying to drive her away and sharply refused, "I won’t! Why do you still want to push me out now? I’m your only sister, and I won’t let anyone hurt you on purpose!"
"Even if he is the most revered being in the entire werewolf world, that’s not acceptable! We need a reasonable and lawful explanation and investigation, not just his personal say-so!"
Lillian, growing increasingly defiant as she spoke, took a step forward in her high heels, tilting her head up to challenge me, "What evidence do you have that my brother did something wrong? Bring out your evidence now, and we can confront it right here on the spot!"
"You and my brother grew up together; I want to see if the friendship you’ve shared over so many years is going to be completely exhausted today. Is it really worth it for some gossip?"
I looked at Lillian’s stubborn face with a light smile, my fingers caressing the beautiful gems on the throne, and said, "It seems there are quite a few people who want to talk about personal ties today... But I’m not fond of watching soppy dramas about deep sibling bonds. Austin is right about one thing, you can leave and wait outside."
"After all, this matter doesn’t concern you that much, and if you insist on interfering, it will only harm your brother. Whether you take my advice or not is up to you! But if you insist on staying, then you’d better keep your mouth shut. Today’s matter is between Austin and me, understand?"
After I finished speaking, I paid no more attention to the indignant Lillian, but snapped my fingers at Clark, who had been silent, signaling that the final act could officially start.
Clark bowed respectfully to me and walked down to the people holding some papers, distributing these documents while explaining in detail, "These documents are a summary of the weapons, equipment, and various daily necessities that Austin purchased privately a few months ago. The lords may examine them closely; if there are any questions, you can come directly to me. I’ll be responsible for providing explanations, as well as any doubts and misunderstandings everyone may have regarding His Majesty’s on-the-spot interrogation of the Alpha of the Windstorm Pack."
"Our arrest and interrogation of Austin are in line with the rules and regulations of the Wolf royal family, and there is no such thing as what Miss Lillian and Austin mentioned earlier—mistreating them without any verification or inquiry. This is the official warrant for Austin’s arrest and the Royal Family’s detention order!"
Licia and Simpson were slightly stunned at first, then raised their hands to take the papers from Clark and began to read with frowns.
Lillian almost snatched the document in front of her, skimming it rapidly, then looked at Austin with eyes full of shock and confusion, "No! This is impossible! My brother wouldn’t do such defiant acts; there must be a mistake, it can’t be!" she retorted aggressively, her fingers clenching the documents until they nearly turned white.
I glanced at her, stood up from the throne, and gesturing toward Austin, suggested softly, "Your brother is right there, why don’t you ask him first? Whether he’s done what’s mentioned here and why he would do such things—is he dissatisfied with the Wolf royal family or with me?"
With my words, Lillian’s entire body seemed to freeze, her head turning instinctively to look at Austin, her eyes rapidly reddening, filled with many complex emotions.
’Why? Is this true?’ Lillian’s eyes asked Austin this.
Clearly, even someone as unsophisticated as Lillian knew that the actions Austin had taken were extremely unusual and could easily be deemed as rebellion and defiance!
For me to simply present such incriminating evidence and interrogate him quietly in the dead of night was already exceedingly merciful and considerate.
According to the traditions of the old Lycans, for a Lycan with malicious intentions like Austin, dying thousands of times over would have been perfectly normal.
The status and dignity of the Wolf royal family do not permit any threats or provocations.
"Brother... you! Speak up, refute them! You didn’t do these things, right?" Lillian, hardly able to believe what was unfolding, pleaded with Austin.
Licia, unable to bear Lillian’s hysterics and distress, casually closed the document in front of her and, furrowing her brow, looked toward Lillian...
