Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 226: Now just leave
[Margaret’s POV]
I slowly shook my head, my tone calm as I replied, "I also don’t know why. But Benjamin guesses it might be related to the particular nature of the Misty Forest. Now I have no choice but to believe that Donald will definitely succeed."
Perhaps seeing the unease in my heart, Elizabeth sighed softly, took my hand, and said soothingly, "Someone as brave and smart as the Lycan King will surely be fine, so you can relax, Margaret."
I don’t want to be so anxious and uneasy, yet my feelings always seem beyond my control.
I guess I’m still not strong enough to face adversity, and that’s not good. I must grow and become more stable; only then will I truly be worthy of my mate—Donald.
I took a deep breath and put on a somewhat forced smile, "Of course I know he’s a very capable person, but that worry is always unavoidable. Perhaps you can relate, since Anthony is also on this mission."
Turning to look at Elizabeth, I thought for a moment before asking, "So how have you and Armstrong been these past days? Have you figured out what you want?"
"You know, if I can successfully escort Elliot back to the Palace this time, I might not return to the pack for a long time. Then you will have to face many things and make decisions on your own."
"But Father should be coming back soon; he might be able to help you," I added, thinking of our father who was out on a mission.
We always manage to give each other sensible advice or heartfelt comfort when discussing each other’s matters, but when it comes to ourselves, it’s rare to be absolutely rational and confident.
"What good advice can Father give me? He’d probably just be thrilled if I stuck close to Armstrong; after all, in his heart, there is nothing that pleases him more than honor and power!" Elizabeth said helplessly, her eyes filled with reluctance as she looked at me.
"I used to always dislike you, bully you, and now I can’t bear to see you leave; I think I must be crazy."
Who could have known that in such a short time, so many important things would happen? In the end, Elizabeth and I have grown up, we have changed.
I smiled at Elizabeth and teased, "After all, I am your sister born a few minutes before you. Even though we’ve had some misunderstandings and unpleasant things happen before, the bond of flesh and blood is not easily severed. Aren’t we always family? Didn’t you just call me ’sister’ in front of Armstrong, why have you changed back now?"
Elizabeth, not wanting to engage with my teasing, continued to busily work with Ruth.
Armstrong stood alone in the living room, his expression somber, his mind seemingly preoccupied with thoughts.
But none of these concerned me any longer; he couldn’t stop me from doing this, not from the beginning.
Soon, half an hour passed, and I met up with Benjamin at the entrance of the hospital. This was what we had agreed on earlier; the Guard Team was to assemble here and set off.
"Is Elliot settled in properly? We must protect him on this journey and not allow the slightest external factor to affect his injuries," I said, looking at the solid and understated carriage at the hospital entrance while talking to Benjamin.
Benjamin nodded, his tired, reddened eyes also glanced at the carriage, "Yes, Miss Margaret, Elliot has been properly arranged by me."
"This carriage was previously used by His Majesty, its safety and stability are absolutely reliable. It is very suitable for you and Elliot to travel in. I will also follow along with the Guard Team the whole way to promptly check on Elliot’s condition."
Benjamin was extremely capable in his work. I bowed slightly to him and sincerely said with a smile, "Thank you for your hard work, let’s set off now."
At my command, the Guard Team’s caravan, following the black, discrete stretch carriage, left the pack. They were well-organized and impressively stable, their presence alone being both daunting and reassuring.
I don’t know how the people in the pack found out about this, but by the time my caravan passed through the western gate of the pack, it was already crowded with many people, and among them were many faces I was very familiar with.
Of course, Armstrong and Elizabeth were there to see me off, but Selena standing behind them was evidently not there for that purpose. She had always gotten along poorly with Elizabeth, often taking it out verbally on me. Now that Elizabeth and I have mended our relationship, it must be quite uncomfortable for her.
If it had been before, I think I would have been pleased by this situation, but now I cannot feel that simple joy, because I carry a heavy burden.
