Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 227: Werewolf Squad
[Margaret’s POV]
Selena’s malice used to be one of my worries, but times have changed, and her annoyance has become less significant, at least I didn’t care at that moment.
Ruth opened the car door for me from the outside, I bent over to get out and looked at Elizabeth and Armstrong, "No need to see us off, we need to keep a low profile on this trip, Alpha, please take everyone back! Elizabeth, come here, I have a few words for you."
I beckoned Elizabeth over as I spoke.
Armstrong glanced at Elizabeth and took the initiative to say, "I know you won’t agree to my proposal, but your trip is fraught with danger. I just formed a squad on the spot; they will join the Guard Team in protecting you and the patient."
"You don’t need to say anything to refuse, this is just my sincere dedication to His Majesty, and the only thing I can do for Elliot. Be careful along the way, and let us know if anything happens. The Silver Moon Pack is loyal to the Wolf Royal Family."
Seeing the serious expression on Armstrong’s face, I knew that if I refused his kindness then, it would seem rather excessive, so I sincerely bowed slightly and quietly said, "Thank you."
Armstrong didn’t say anything, just looked at me gently, then walked up to the captain of the Guard Team, that is, Pack Louis who led the team to stay, and quietly talked with him. Given their serious expressions, they were probably discussing the Werewolf Squad joining the Guard Team.
I shifted my gaze back to Elizabeth, but she was still staring fixedly at Armstrong. Noticing my gaze, she sighed softly and said directly, "Do you think he’s really just trying to express his sincerity to His Majesty, or does he have other motives?"
"I really can’t see through him. What should I do, Margaret? I really don’t want you to leave. How about you let me go with you?"
After hearing Elizabeth’s words, I did not respond immediately but just looked at her tenderly.
I knew that wasn’t what she truly thought because she had prepared herself to face these issues alone. She was merely venting, "Come on, you know that’s not possible. I’m only doing this because I have no other choice. What would you do if you went with me? The journey is perilous and arduous, and you wouldn’t be able to endure it."
I said, glanced at someone behind us who was straining their ears to eavesdrop, and frowned slightly.
Elizabeth noticed Selena’s intentions at that moment too. She turned back somewhat angrily to Selena and scolded in a deep voice, "If you’re so eager to know what Margaret and I are discussing, why don’t you just come and stand here, Selena? You still sneak around in your dealings, completely lacking integrity!"
Elizabeth’s voice as she scolded Selena was quite loud, and her last words were downright harsh, attracting immediate attention from the surrounding crowd. Curious gazes inadvertently lingered on Selena and us.
Selena, feeling guilty as if a thief, was scrutinized by the crowd and immediately became flustered and angry, glaring with wide eyes and confronting Elizabeth fiercely, "Who is eavesdropping on your conversation? Don’t falsely accuse others!"
"Just because you became the pack’s luna, you think you can bully anyone you want. I’m not afraid of you two sisters. Don’t think you can bully me in front of all these people!"
She said, focusing her gaze intently on me, her eyes filled with envy and dissatisfaction.
She might think she had hidden her feelings well enough that no one would notice, but she didn’t realize all her little schemes were transparent before me. I saw through all her thoughts at a glance.
"That’s your own admission of ’eavesdropping’; we said nothing, so you’re merely incriminating yourself!" Elizabeth picked up on the flaw in Selena’s words, stood up straight, and pointed directly at her nose as she spoke.
Caught by Elizabeth’s words, Selena’s expression was quite spectacular, looking like a complex paint palette. Watching this, I found it somewhat amusing, turned my head back, and exhaled helplessly, not wanting to waste time with Selena here.
But perhaps Selena felt that I was mocking and provoking her, she immediately flared up and took a couple of steps forward, pointing at me and accusing loudly, "What are you laughing at? Are you mocking me? Margaret, do you really think that just because you partnered with the Lycan King, you’ve ascended to unreachable heights like a phoenix?"
"You really are shameless! After all, you’re not even as smart as Elizabeth. What makes you think the Lycan King would really fancy you?"
"His Majesty is just intrigued by the novelty of being with you, and once he gets bored of you, he’ll naturally cast you aside! Don’t come crying back from the Palace then, huh! Stop being so smug in front of me..."
