Chapter 225: Worthwhile adventure

[Margaret’s POV]

"Do you think so too, Elizabeth?" I looked up at the anxious Armstrong before turning my gaze to Elizabeth and asked softly.

Upon hearing this, Elizabeth looked up and met my eyes, and after a few breaths of silence, she finally responded, "Benjamin is not an impulsive man. Since he has made such a request at this time, he must have had no other choice left."

"If Margaret does not act now, it would mean letting Elliot’s life slowly drain away, and that would be far too cruel..."

"Elliot was injured trying to save us, we cannot give up on him now! That’s why I support your decision to head to the Palace now, even though it’s truly dangerous and frightening. It’s all worth it for Elliot. He was our former tutor and our friend."

Elizabeth’s thoughts were similar to mine, and I was certain that the same blood flows within both of us, ultimately making us the same kind of people.

Armstrong seemed quite shocked by Elizabeth’s speech, his eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at her.

I knew very well what kind of person my sister was; although she might be delicate and capricious, her inherent goodness and sense of right and wrong were indeed very strong.

"Just like Elizabeth said, to save Elliot’s life, it is worth taking this risk."

I looked at Elizabeth with a gentle smile, then raised my head to meet Armstrong’s gaze, "This is my thoughts on the matter and my answer to your question, Alpha. Is there anything else you’d like to know?"

Armstrong, with a stern face, glanced at me and Elizabeth. His lips parted as if he wanted to say something more, but he ended up swallowing his words!

He was not someone who could completely disregard a companion’s life; I believed his opposition was genuinely well-intended.

"Margaret... all I can say is you are incredibly bold. If the Lycan King comes back and does not see you, he will be furious, and I am afraid I can’t withstand his towering rage!"

"That won’t happen, Armstrong. I think Donald will understand my decision; he isn’t a ruler who sticks rigidly to the rules,"

I confidently rebutted Armstrong and halfway through I realized my statement might bear some ambiguity; I paused briefly, then explained, "I didn’t mean to imply anything about you, do not misunderstand."

Armstrong took a deep breath, his expression not showing any anger, "So you think I am inferior to him? Well, I don’t really need that answer."

"I will do my best to support your action. The pack has been relatively stable and safe lately. So I’ll personally lead the team and accompany you and a group back to the Palace."

"If the Lycan King’s raid goes smoothly, they should be able to return to the Silver Moon Pack by noon. With our departure, we’ll only be half a day’s journey behind them, they can surely catch up!"

"What did you say?" I interrupted Armstrong, surprised by his extensive planning for my matter. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

I glanced sidelong at Elizabeth beside me and coldly said to Armstrong, "You are going to personally lead a team to escort Elliot back to the Palace? What about the pack? Are you going to leave it unattended? Do you even realize what you’re saying?"

Armstrong fell silent for a while, looking at me wanting to argue further.

I raised my hand to signal him to stop, my tone leaving no room for objection, "If you think I haven’t considered this option, then aren’t you underestimating me too much? I didn’t mention it because it’s truly unfeasible, and I dismissed it right away. Is the pack really stable now? I hardly think so!"

"So I can never allow you to do this. Elliot is important, but the lives and safety of so many in the pack are equally important! Go cool off for a while, then you’ll understand why I say so."

As I spoke, I shifted my gaze away from Armstrong and turned to instruct the silent Elizabeth, "Come help me; it’s really not working with just Ruth alone."

Elizabeth snapped back to reality, came over, and started to help, leaving Armstrong out in the cold.

"Did the Lycan King also agree to this?" Elizabeth quietly inquired.

At her question, I frowned and explained without turning my head, "Actually, I’ve lost contact with Donald. Not just me, Benjamin too. I’ve been trying to get in touch with him in the past 10 or so minutes, but still, there’s been no response."

"Why?"

Elizabeth’s face held the exact query as mine a moment ago, and that was something even Benjamin couldn’t answer; he speculated it might be because of the special miasma in the Misty Forest and its defensible terrain, which blocked all external mind-links.

That was also one of the reasons my mind was uneasy, I was somewhat worried about Donald’s safety.
