Chapter 177: YOU ARE NOT HIM

The beta was amazed with her plan, but also wary of her.

Needless to say, Zuri was... a strategist. Just like Khaos, she knew how to make a plot. She was not a naïve woman, who was ignorance to how the world worked.

Her ability had been proven once when they dealt with the purchase of the ship and Bryden had been amazed by her.

But, the problem here was; Zuri was a Shell. Though it was harsh, but she was a collateral damage for their main goal. Her existence and the purpose of her was a complication for their goal, especially now when Khaos had marked her.

Bryden could see the way Khaos stared at her. The bond strengthened, the affection was real and now he was tied to her more than ever.

If only she was not the Shell, Khaos and Zuri would be perfect for each other.

"How do you want to do this?" Khaos asked, he played with her hair absentmindedly, he did it very naturally and more often than not, he would glance at the mark on her neck. It was almost healed, but there were scars around her wrists and ankles. The scars from the silver. It seemed, it wouldn’t heal.

Even though Zuri looked better, her healing ability was rather slow. She almost looked like a human, she almost looked like she lost this ability.

"I want the princess, who is the one who delivered the golden stamp."

"How are you going to do that?" Khaos looked relax, he let his mate to plan everything, while he gave her his support and Zuri enjoyed it.

It boasted her confidence, it kept her mind away from negative thoughts and voices in her head. She looked fine. At least, now...

"The king didn’t know about the fact of Bairone and also the opium and now the princess is an addict," Zuri started. Bryden and Caiden leaned over instinctively to listen to her.

And in the end, they talked about the plan for hours.

"My king, what is going on?" Luca approached him, the royal gamma had been worried about the situation in the River Creek pack and in the whole kingdom in general.

The help from Wolfdale Kingdom was already here. The palace had opened the gates to distribute the food supply too. Queen Nycta helped with the process, which made this as her first appearance in public after their ceremony.

Nycta heard what Rose was doing in the River Creek pack and she was going to do the same. Despite the tumultuous problem between the king and the queen, no one needed to know. Dacre and Nycta needed to show their strong front.

"You need to stop drinking." Luca took the bottle of wine from Dacre’s hand. He had been like this for days after the letter from Leonard. Nycta and Killian’s betrayal hit him so hard. "We still couldn’t find a merchant, who wanted to sell their items to us," he informed him.

"Where is Khaos?"

"Last I heard, someone spotted him around the Three Deadly Ways. After that, no one had seen him again."

Dacre grabbed the wine bottle from Luca’s hand and finished the liquid. He hurtled the bottle across the room and it shattered when it hit the wall. Anger rolled off his being and this forced Luca to take two steps back. The royal gamma lowered his head.

"Call Rose here!"

Luca didn’t need to be told twice, he went to get Rose and inform her about the king’s current condition, just a head up, so she knew what she would face.

"Don’t worry, I will be fine," she said calmly and thanked him for the warning.

Once she entered the room, Rose could see the shattered bottle. The strong smell of alcohol immediately assaulted her senses.

Dacre had been like this for days and it was Rose, who handled everything for him. He was so close to trust her with everything, or probably because he didn’t have space to care about anything else.

Rose still didn’t know what caused this, but she was more than willing to make the beset out of this situation.

"Your majesty," Rose greeted Dacre calmly, she walked toward the drunk king gracefully. Dacre was standing in front of his desk, his arms crossed and his eyes fixed on her. Rose took this opportunity, she walked so close and only stopped when her breasts ghostly touched his arms. She looked up and gave him her innocent look. "Do you call me?"

Veins bulged on Dacre’s neck, his gaze hardened, as he devoured the woman before his eyes, for a moment, everything went still and Rose waited for what he was going to do. She was very patient, waiting for the king to make a move.

She treated this as if she was approaching an angry, wounded beast. She needed him to come to her first and that was what Dacre did.

Abruptly, Dacre grabbed Rose’s face and leaned over, which made Rose thinking he was going to kiss her. She closed her eyes and waited, but she could only feel his face was so close to her, not his lips on her.

Eventually, Rose opened her eyes, she looked at him with bewilderment and took the initiative to kiss him first, but Dacre tilted his head to avoid it.

"Your majesty..." Rose’s voice was very sweet, like sugar. She touched Dacre’s hand that cupped her face and kissed his palm instead. "I know you are in so much pain. Share the pain with me... I am willing to do anything to soothe your pain, my king..."

They were dangerously close, Rose even pressed her body against him right now, completely leaning against his chest and stared at Dacre through her long lashes with need.

She tried again, this time she tiptoed, but for the second time, Dacre avoided her attempt.

"You are not him," Dacre said quietly, darkly, as if the sight of Rose disappointed him.

"Him?"
