A Mate For The Last Lycan-Chapter 178: THE ALPHA WAS BEING OVERLY PROTECTIVE
Chapter 178: THE ALPHA WAS BEING OVERLY PROTECTIVE
Zuri curled herself against Khaos’s chest with one of her legs tangled with his under the blanket and the other poked out. Her long, black hair spread on the pillow and her lips were slightly ajar, as she snored softly.
After their meeting, Zuri was too exhausted to stay awake and fall asleep almost immediately. She made an excellent plan to get the golden stamp and right now, she deserved all the rest she needed.
Khaos put his hand on her hips and could feel a little bit of meat there. She was still skinny, he was still able to feel her protruding bones, but at the very least, she put on a little bit weight, instead of losing it.
[Khaos, I need you to come out for a while,] Bryden mindlinked him and the alpha carefully entangled himself from her.
But, Zuri was startled, she was awake and looked at him sleepily.
"Sleep, I will be right outside the door, there is something I need to discuss with Bryden." Khaos caressed her head and kissed her cheek.
Zuri made a cute noise and closed her eyes again, but through the mate bond, Khaos could feel her annoyance toward the beta. He regarded her with another kiss on the lips before he went out and meet with Bryden.
"What is it?" Khaos closed the door behind him. The corridor was empty, thus they could talk freely.
"We know what happened to our man in the palace." Bryden scrunched his nose. "He was caught. He is in the prison now."
"Did Dacre know? He is too calm for someone, who knew about it."
Bryden shook his head. "No. He was not caught because they knew he is one of our men, but because he was caught having sex with the queen. It was the royal beta Leonard, who saw them."
Hearing that, the alpha narrowed his eyes and Bryden continued with the explanation.
"He is in trouble for different problem. I don’t think he said anything about us. I think it’s a poor judgment in his part coupled with bad luck." Bryden studied Khaos’s expression, but decided he didn’t know what he was thinking right now. "What are you going to do now?"
"Send someone to kill him."
He needed to be silenced before he said anything. It was not poor judgment or bad luck. Killian had crossed the line and he got his emotions involved in his mission.
"Are you sure?" Bryden thought Khaos was making a rash decision. "We have put a lot of effort to put him there. He is in crucial position. We can lose a lot of information if we lost him."
However, Khaos disagreed. "We have lost him." Not because they caught Killian, but because his heart was not with them anymore, his loyalty was questionable. He had warned Killian about this since the beginning, he needed to stop when he got confused, but he was confused and didn’t want to stop.
Killian knew too much for someone, whose loyalty was not with them.
"Kill him." This was a direct order. The order was clear and left no room for negotiation, which made Bryden nodded.
"Okay." Bryden was going to arrange that. "Rhett has returned, he is in his room. Do you want me to call him here?"
Khaos thought about it for a while. "No. I will go there." Khaos then opened the door behind him. "Stay inside and be quiet. Don’t wake her up."
"I will stay outside." Bryden didn’t want to stay inside the bedroom with Zuri. He could guard her from here.
"There is a window and balcony. Stay inside and stay away from her."
Khaos was not going to be fooled twice. It happened once and if it happened again for the second time under his nose, he might be the stupidest lycan alive.
Finally, Bryden reluctantly entered the room. He didn’t venture further inside, as long as he could see Zuri, he stayed in his position until Khaos returned. The alpha was a little bit paranoid after the first kidnap.

Dacre pushed Rose away from him. His eyes were bloodshot red, he was livid, mad even and when he spoke, it was not like his voice. It held so much hatred and pain.
"Leave."
Rose stumbled back when Dacre pushed her away, she clutched her chest and looked at him with her teary eyes, but Dacre had rummaged the cabinet in order to look for another wine.
Knowing this wouldn’t be the right time, Rose turned around and left the room. Once she was outside, she wiped her tears and her expression turned cold.
"Him?" she muttered to herself. She could understand if what he mistook her for her sister, but who was ’him’ that he meant?
Rose was sure she heard it right.
He said ’him’ not ’her’.
He was thinking about another man when he was about to kiss her?
The thought made Rose furrowed her brows deeply and walked away. There were so many things she needed to dig. In the end, she wrote a letter to her informants.

"You know sir Bairone, why didn’t you say anything?"
That was the first question that Khaos posed when he entered the room and found Rhett had been waiting for him.
"I don’t involve with him very often. Zuri must have just remembered about him, right?" Rhett poured wine into two glasses and gave one for Khaos. "I have a cult to deal with and the life long plan of beauty blood, I don’t pay attention to what happen in the other kingdom."
"And before, you said you have your people in the three kingdoms, feeding you with all the information."
Rhett couldn’t answer that.
"You are not the leader of the cult," Khaos stated.
"Why not?"
"Too young, too reckless, too impulsive, you are not a strong planner... you got the gist of it." Khaos waved his hand nonchalantly. "So, who is the true leader of the cult?" He demanded the answer.
