Chapter 357: Fang Yazhu

In the presidential suite of a five-star hotel, Beijing.

Fang Yazhu had just stepped out of the shower clad in a bathrobe when his peripheral vision caught sight of someone standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window.

His movement froze for the briefest second, but then he quickly snapped back to his senses and demanded in anger, "Who are you?! How dare you trespass into my room! Men, where are—"

"No need to call for your bodyguards," the intruder turned around, revealing a young, handsome features that would definitely make countless girls swoon under his feet. However, there was just something about him – perhaps it was his razor-sharp gaze, his compelling aura, or the confident way he carried himself – that told Fang Yazhu not to underestimate him. The twinkling lights from the skyscrapers illuminated his back, making the silvery color of his eyes stand out even more. A thin yet dangerous smile graced the corner of his lips, "They won’t come here even if you scream on top of your lungs. But of course, feel free to do so if you still doubt my words."

Loud alarm bells rang in Fang Yazhu’s mind. He clenched his fists and subtly took a glance at the table a few steps away from him, where the emergency button was. As soon as he moved quickly enough and press it—

"Also, please don’t bother to call for reinforcement," the man maintained his smile and flipped his gloved hand to show the button, listening devices and pinhole cameras that had been dismantled cleanly. "For now, there will only be the two of us."

Fang Yazhu’s heart sank to the pit of his stomach when he saw the bugs in the man’s hand. He had installed it for the sake of his own safety and aside from his most trusted bodyguard, no third person in this world knew of their exact location. He had only entered the bathroom for around ten minutes, so how was it possible for this intruder to act so fast?!

"Who are you?" he asked vigilantly.

The man let out an amused scoff as if he had just heard a ridiculous joke. "Who am I?" he repeated the question with a mocking tone. "Shouldn’t you be the one who knows it best, Mr. Fang, since you have just sent someone to assassinate me?"

Fang Yazhu’s eyes widened in utter shock and incredulity. He staggered backward a step as the terrifying realization dawned on him. "X–XIU...?" he whispered that name with fear and trepidation. He had heard so much of this man before, especially after the rumors of how he had become Liang Yuanjun’s backer spread all over the political world, but Fang Yazhu did not expect him to be so... young!

"What do you want?" Fang Yazhu’s complexion was pale, yet he still managed to hold his ground firmly in front of the infamous devil of the underworld. "Are you here for revenge? Do you want to kill me?"

"Oh, it will be so easy for me to kill you," he let out a soft chuckle that sent icy shivers down Fang Yazhu’s spine. "But it will be such a hassle to deal with the aftermath, so... no. I am not here to kill you."

Fang Yazhu still did not dare to lower his guard. He kept his wary eyes on the devil as he slowly retreated one step after another, inching closer and closer to the door. If the man realized what he was trying to do, then he did not show any indication for that.

"Then, what are you here for?"

"There is just something I am curious about, you see..." He Juan stepped away from the window, causing the fifty-four year old politician to flinch. However, he pretended to notice nothing and sat down on the couch instead, as if the room was his to begin with. "You clearly don’t know my face nor who I am, so how can you send people after me? Where did you get the information from? Hmm? Depending on your answer, I may let you go in one piece. Do you know, Mr. Fang, that people like me have a thousand ways to make your life more miserable than death itself?"

Fang Yazhu barked out a disbelieving laugh. "You’re only here to ask me that?" Now that he had confirmed that the man was not here to kill him, he became a whole lot calmer. He plastered on his business smile, yet the words he said were akin to needles wrapped in silk. "Pardon me, I have no idea that you will be troubled by this simple matter, XIU. After all, we are living in a digital era where confidential information is no longer confidential with the presence of wealth, status and power. Even someone as mysterious as you can’t escape from the eye of technology."

He Juan let out an intrigued hum. He had been observing Fang Yazhu closely and thus was certain that the man was not lying.

Now this is getting more interesting. He had been very careful not to leave anything behind whether it was physical traces like fingerprints or saliva, or digital traces like surveillance footage or anything else that could trail it back to him. He had been doing this for years and it had become a hard-to-erase habit.

But Fang Yazhu had just told him that he paid someone to obtain information about He Juan?

Even in the underworld, the number of people who had seen him and knew who he really was could be counted with two hands, with the exception of the elite members of Xuanlong.

Was it really a mole, in the end?

Smiling coldly, He Juan stood up and straightened his suit. "Who is it?"

Too taken aback by the man’s sudden movement, Fang Yazhu did not register the question. "...Huh?"

"Who sold the information to you? And what did they tell you?" He Juan started to walk step by step toward the man, backing him all the way to the door. "As long as you can tell me an honest answer, I will leave... for now. Don’t try to trick me, Mr. Fang," a hint of warning bled into his smile. "I will know it when you lie."

He Juan could see beads of sweat forming on the man’s thin hairline. His eyes shifted all over the place as though measuring a chance to escape. In the end, when his back ultimately bumped against the door, he scrambled to open it... only to find that the handle could not budge at all. Damn it!

Left with no other choice, he could only grit out, "I don’t know who that person is..."

"Uh-huh."

"He approached me because he knew that I am Liang Yuanjun’s biggest rival... and also because he wanted to make some quick cash." He took a deep inhale. "He told me to trail a few people. As long as they made an act, then I would definitely be able to find you... or so he said." Fang Yazhu then blurted out a few names, and He Juan matched it with the ones who had just undergone a brutal interrogation session with him in Xuanlong’s underground chamber a few hours ago.

Huh? This person was quite smart. He clearly did not know who He Juan was or what he looked like, so he told Fang Yazhu to trail the people who were targeting He Juan?

Fang Yazhu continued to say, "I didn’t actually see what his appearance is like. He was sitting inside the car with tinted windows, but..." he showed a hesitant look.

"But?" He Juan urged.

"When he stretched his hand out to receive the money, I saw... tattoos on his wrist. It’s some kind of flower? Blue colored flowers?"

Blue colored flowers?

Could it be... Blue Lotus?
