Chapter 358: You Tactless Bastard!!

After making sure that Fang Yazhu hid nothing more from him about the mysterious information seller, He Juan finally decided to take his leave.

He moved toward the door, causing Fang Yazhu to hastily step aside in order to avoid him. Taking hold of the door handle, he exerted some strength and – crack! – it broke open under his tyrannical power. The security system did not issue any alarm for He Juan had made sure to deactivate it firsthand.

He had just taken one step outside when Fang Yazhu said behind him, "Do you think this is the end, XIU? You... You are nothing but a thug. What makes you think that you can take control of the political world?" he sneered.

He Juan stared at the unconscious bodies of the bodyguards strewn all over the corridor. He did not even turn around as he replied, "You are right about one thing – I am indeed no more than a thug."

Fang Yazhu fell silent, presumably taken aback by his honest admittance.

"But too bad, I have no interest in controlling your world," he continued with a derisive chuckle. "It’s just... some people’s behavior really disgust me. That’s why I don’t mind being a busybody for a little while. This will be my last warning for you, Mr. Fang. If you cross the line once again, then the next time we meet, I won’t be as civil."

After saying that, He Juan courteously closed the broken door behind him and vanished into the night.

"Blue Lotus?" Jia Molei yelled out in shock. "You’ve found that son of a bitch?!"

He Juan placed the phone away from his ear and grimaced. He had not gotten a wink of sleep for the past fifty five hours and Jia Molei’s brutal screech did nothing to alleviate his headache. Leaning against the seat inside the car, he massaged his aching temples and chuckled helplessly, "I haven’t found him yet, Doctor Jia. It’s just a suspicion. Can you relay the message to A-Mu and tell him to check out the CCTV around that area? It’s the place where he made a deal with Fang Yazhu."

"F–Fang Yazhu..." the doctor sputtered out in shock. "Did you go to find that Fang fucking Yazhu? Wait, you didn’t kill him, did you?!"

He Juan scoffed in disdain. "Do you think I’m stupid?"

If Fang Yazhu was killed when the election was lurking in the corner, who could imagine how huge of a sensation it would be? What kind of conspiracy would arise? At the end of the day, Fang Yazhu was still a renowned politician, a strong candidate for the prime minister and Liang Yuanjun’s rival to boot! If he killed Fang Yazhu, then Liang Yuanjun would definitely be splashed with dirty water despite being the innocent party!

"Oh, oh, that’s good..." Jia Molei heaved out a sigh of relief. But then when he recalled what He Juan had just done, he demanded again angrily, "Then why the hell did you go to find him?!"

He Juan told him in a few concise sentences about the names he had torn out of the captives’ mouths that led him to discover how Fang Yazhu had struck a deal with someone whom he suspected to be Blue Lotus. Jia Molei had been an integral part in that night’s ambush – even though it was the doctor himself who volunteered with the reason that it had been too long since he had gotten some exercise – thus He Juan did not see any reason to hide it from him.

"Fuck!" He cursed out loud once He Juan finished talking. "This is why I told you not to seek trouble with those politicians! Even if you want to support Liang Yuanjun, can’t you just do it quietly without creating such a huge commotion?! You fucker, have you even thought of a day when your identity will be exposed for the world to see?!"

Knowing that Jia Molei’s foul curses stemmed from concern, warm laughter spilled out of He Juan’s eyes and he jokingly said, "If that day comes, then doesn’t it mean that you have to be prepared for my death anniversary? After all, how can a shadow continue to exist when it’s dragged out into the daylight..."

"Don’t fucking joke about something like this, you tactless bastard!!"

He Juan grimaced and hurriedly pulled the phone away from his ear again lest he would be deafened by Jia Molei’s roar. He rubbed his ear and protested weakly, "Hey, take pity on me, will you? I haven’t slept for almost three days now!"

Jia Molei let out a sneer from the other end of the line. "What? Do you want me to make it your death anniversary today?"

"Okay, okay, I know. It’s my fault." He Juan hastily tried to amend his mistake, laughing all the while. "I will be more careful this time, so can you please tell A-Mu to check it for me as soon as possible?"

"Why the hell do I have to keep being your middleman..." Even though he said that, he still told He Juan to wait for his news and hung up on the phone afterward.

Finally left in the mercy of the comfortable silence, He Juan pinched his throbbing brows and let out a sigh. He reached into the compartment, took out a bottle of painkiller and swallowed two pills with a gulp of water. After that, he started the car and began to drive back to Shunan City, which would take at least five hours. By the time he arrived home, it would be just in time for him and Mu Yuze to have breakfast together.

He Juan let out a wistful sigh, "Ah, I missed Xiao Ze’s coffee already..."

At the same time, in He Juan’s apartment in Shunan City.

Instead of sleeping, Mu Yuze was on the outside corridor clad in a thick jacket over his pajamas, crouching over the cat bed as he added one more blanket to cover Kitty’s body.

"Meow~" the orange tabby cat blinked slowly at him and gave him a sleepy meow.

"I know," Mu Yuze ran his knuckles gently over Kitty’s furry head, a hint of a smile flashing through his dark eyes when he saw the feline closing her eyes in comfort and purring as loud as a motorboat. "I have tried to call him, but Mr. Chen said that he is busy. You must be sad that he’s not here for your first labor, huh?" Mu Yuze’s gaze shifted downward as he counted each little kitten that was still damp and sucking hungrily at their mother’s teats. "One, two, three, four, five... wow, you gave birth to so many kittens."

"Meow..."

"Alright, go to sleep. I know you’re tired. I will clean the bed for you tomorrow. Just bear with it a little tonight, okay?"

Kitty let out a little ’mmrph’ and drifted off to a slumber, exhausted after the long and arduous labor.

Mu Yuze spent a few long minutes merely gazing at Kitty and her five new little kittens, unable to stop the corner of his lips from raising. He just couldn’t get enough no matter how long he stared at them. They’re so small, so soft and adorable!

Alas, it was already such a late hour and if he did not go to bed soon, he would definitely not be able to wake up early tomorrow to fulfill his promise with Kitty.

Resigning to his fate, Mu Yuze finally rose to his feet and fluffed the blanket around the bed one last time so that Kitty and her kittens would not feel cold. Feeling like it was not enough, he even took off the scarf around his neck and added it to Kitty’s bed.

He had just straightened up when all of a sudden, he heard the soft ding of the elevator as it stopped at this floor. His heart skipped a beat and he instantly snapped his gaze toward the end of the empty hallway. The apartments on this floor belonged only to He Juan alone and no one would usually stop here, unless...

Had He Juan come back?!

Mu Yuze did not even realize he was holding his breath as he stared expectantly at the hallway, waiting for the appearance of the man whom he had not seen for days.

But then, when footsteps started to reverberate in the air, he realized with sinking realization that they did not belong to He Juan. And moreover, it was not only one person alone...
