Chapter 205: I Will Get Shy

Mu Yuze had no idea what kind of problem was waiting for him back in the Bureau.

Right now, he was entirely focused on finding Jia Molei’s house. And it was not until he stood in front of the door that he recalled the fact that He Juan had been staying here for the past seven years as well...

No, he should not get distracted at a time like this! Shaking his head, he took a step forward and just as he was going to press the doorbell, the neighboring house’s door swung open and a woman in sportswear walked out while chiding the small poodle in her arms. "You foolish dog, you can’t chew on my shoes again, okay?! It’s not like I haven’t—" she caught sight of Mu Yuze standing next door and promptly choked on her words.

No way... again?! It was just last night that she caught her thug-ish and crimson-haired neighbor being in a provocative position with another man, and today... there was another one?! She had never realized that her neighbor’s love life was so exciting. And damn it, this one was also a very attractive little brother! Had all the handsome men in this world become gays nowadays?!

Mu Yuze: ?

He keenly sensed that something was off with the way she looked at him, yet he just could put his finger to it. Out of politeness, he gave a brief nod and greeted her, "Good evening."

"E–Evening..." the woman choked out, her eyes darting wildly all over the place. The poodle in her arms let out a small bark as if echoing her. "Are you... Are you here for him too?"

"’Too’?" Mu Yuze accurately caught on to the crux of her sentence, his eyes gleaming with a sharp light. "Who’s been here previously?"

’Aaaah! It’s over, it’s over...!’ the woman cried out inwardly and hugged her poodle tighter to herself as a shield. ’I have exposed my neighbor’s promiscuous lifestyle. What should I do... I really didn’t do it on purpose! Who told you to step on two boots at the same time?!’

Just like that, Jia Molei’s upright and honest reputation among the neighborhood was further destroyed by this ridiculous misunderstanding. It was beyond recovery.

The woman did not want to get dragged further into this messy matter. She hemmed and hawed, then blurted out, "I–I don’t know... I didn’t see anything! Goodbye!" Afraid that Mu Yuze was going to ask her more questions, she swiftly turned around and ran away as if her life depended on it!

"Wait..." The woman ran so fast that Mu Yuze could not hold her back. He could actually give chase, but she had looked so terrified that it would only become pointless. Not to mention, it would look quite inappropriate for a man – though he was an omega – to run after a woman when it was still daylight...

But what did she say just now? He was not the first person who had come here to find Jia Molei? Who was it? He Juan and Su Xieren were still in the hospital so they could be crossed out from the list. Was it another acquaintance of the crimson-haired doctor or...

Frowning, Mu Yuze did not hesitate any longer to press on the doorbell. He waited for five full seconds and when he saw that no one had answered it, he pressed it again two more times. Mu Yuze pursed his lips tight and the color of his eyes gradually darkened.

He reached out to his waist and confirmed that his baton was strapped in place beneath his bomber jacket. Then he took a few steps backward, inhaled deeply and counted to three. Alas, just before he could break down the gate and barge in by force, the intercom buzzed and a raspy voice drifted out, thick with a nasal tone, "... What are you doing here?"

It was Jia Molei’s voice for sure.

A sliver of relief wormed into Mu Yuze’s heart. He slowly put down his leg and came closer to the intercom again. "You didn’t answer the phone all day. Are you that sick? Come out, I will bring you to the hospital."

"Hospital?" Jia Molei harrumphed in disdain. "Why should I go to a hospital just because of a damn fever? I’m a fucking doctor!"

Alright, it seemed like everything was just a false alarm. The string hanging over Mu Yuze’s heart could finally be put down and he swiftly regained his momentum. He deadpanned, "A damn fever made you forget to charge your phone."

"You fucking...!" Jia Molei spat out as if he had been jabbed right on his sore spot. "Wait until I get better and I will surely teach you a lesson!" He huffed and his tone softened when he spoke again, presumably realizing that he had caused unwarranted concern. "Okay, okay I know now. I will go and turn on my phone, are you satisfied?!"

"Mn," Mu Yuze nodded. He suddenly recalled what the woman had said earlier and threw out a casual question, "Did someone visit you today?"

"Who the hell are you talking about?!"

"...Nothing." Mu Yuze replied after a beat of silence. "Make sure to reply to your messages from now on. Or I will drag you to the hospital whether you want it or not."

***

Jia Molei was simply speechless by this brat’s audacity. Who the hell did he think he was, so daring to command him around? When he ran the underground clinic where people had to line up to get an examination from him, this brat was still wet behind the ears!

Enraged, Jia Molei jammed his finger on the ’off’ button and swiveled around to face the man who nestled on the sofa with his long leg propped on top of the other. "There, I sent him away! Are you satisfied now, ancestor?!"

The man was none other than Ku Jin. Since his one-sided declaration that he was going to be the second occupant of this house, he had been making himself at home, utterly at ease, and he even dared to order the real owner around! Jia Molei swore, someday these people were going to drive him to his early grave!

"Hmm, I will give you 30 points for your lousy acting skills." Ku Jin nodded with a mock serious look. A laptop was settled on his lap (Jia Molei’s) with high quality headphones dangled around his neck (still Jia Molei’s). He was just trying to act cool and mysterious when in fact, Jia Molei had caught him playing sudoku all night long. Now he was positive that Ku Jin’s purpose to stay here was only to spite him.

Jia Molei rolled his eyes and sneered for good measure, not making any attempt to hide his mockery and scorn. "Do you think everyone’s like you, Master Manipulator?"

"Don’t flatter me, please. I will get shy," he replied shamelessly without batting an eyelid. He closed the laptop with a crisp sound and placed it on the low table. Then he laced his fingers together and propped his chin on it, his expression mirthful and slightly amused. "That was XIU’s omega, wasn’t it? Not bad. He could tell that you’re lying. Be careful not to expose my existence or else..." he let his words trailed off on purpose.

And sure enough, he managed to raise Jia Molei’s hackles just with that one sentence.

"You...!" Absolutely enraged, the crimson-haired doctor strode forward and grabbed him around the collar, forcing him to look into those furiously blazing eyes of his. "Let me warn you. If you fucking dare to do something to him..."

"What?" Ku Jin’s eyes lit up in excitement. He licked his bottom lip and taunted with a smirk. "What are you going to do to me?"
