I was about to check the skills of the Devourer after it had devoured the weapon but the sudden noises coming from nearby made me startled. After all, a sudden battle happening with everyone participating seems rather dangerous and the fact that even Leona and Mizuchi are helping out in the battle means things are getting hectic over there. However, I am not going to be helping them as I was specifically here to stop the Goddess of Life and not just to join in another battle.

"Don’t go be tempted to join the fight, you will have a fight you will fight on your a few moments from now. So be ready on that instead," the Shadow Dragon said to me with a firm tone.

"I know. Don’t worry about it."

If attacks are now happening, that must mean the battle is going to begin shortly.

As I try to determine where the Goddess of Life would suddenly appear, the altar behind me shines brightly as the power within it has fully been restored to its proper order.

"Hey, how about we use the power of the Tree of Life instead since that will stop the Goddess of Life from taking its power instead?" I suggested.

"No. Human bodies are frail enough to keep the power by themselves. Taking in the power of the tree would just cause you to die due to the severe burden you will receive instead. That is not a good thing for you, yes? Compared to you, the body of the Goddess of Life is different and is capable of handling the power of the Tree of Life and if she so desires to empty everything, she can do it without any problem. Therefore, our only option is to defend this place with all our lives on the line."

"Damn, I hate our disadvantage in this battle."

"Heh, this isn’t your first rodeo, wielder and this isn’t your last either. Now, go and prepare. She will appear any second now."

And just like he was triggering a cutscene, the surroundings explode to light and the one who we are waiting for is now before me.

"Ha, so you didn’t die last time we fought, human," the Goddess of Life grinned but with a mocking grin that I hated looking at.

"If you thought your attack the last time would kill me, think again. I am more resilient than you think I was."

"Let’s see you say that again after I rip your body in half."

A giant blade of light suddenly descended straight to me. I already prepared fast so before the light struck me down, I changed the Devourer’s form into a shield and immediately blocked it with it. With a slight push, the light breaks to pieces, stopping it completely. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

She was not surprised but she is not amused either.

"Hmph. If you think that power is enough then you are not thinking clearly."

And a torrent of multiple light attacks started to rain down on me. Thankfully, the shield form is wide enough that I can easily hide behind it. As I put down the shield, I pulled out a scroll and tore it apart, causing flames to dance all over the battlefield as the light attacks started to get drowned by the flames.

After that, I pulled out the Pain Delivery, loaded it, and immediately fired the bullet straight to the Goddess of Life.

BANG!

Either its overconfidence of hers or she was just expecting my attack would not work but she didn’t block the attack at all and let the bullet just travel straight to her.

Multiple cracks appeared as the bullet traveled so fast that before I could blink, the bullet pierced through her left shoulder. I was expecting it to hit her chest, or perhaps her throat to stop her from yapping but I guess it didn’t. Still, that causes her to get wounded which causes her to fall to the ground and groan in pain as the bullet creates a brand new hole in her shoulder.

"W-what the? How did that gun pierced through me?"

I am not genuinely surprised but just a little bit surprised that it went right through her. I was expecting it to just bounce back but knowing this gun’s previous records of one-shotting almost everything, I think that was also the case here as well. She just didn’t die since it didn’t her vitals but perhaps if I did it, she would either be fatally wounded, or she would be killed in the process though I am not that sure.

She stood up and wiped her hands on the wound which caused it to disappear.

"I see...so you do have something up your sleeve. Still, it is pointless now that I have seen it."

She snaps her fingers and barriers seem to have formed around her. If she is serious about it, that must mean she already made a barrier against the gun’s power which means I can’t do it again. Guess things aren’t going to go smoothly still.

"No problem with it. If I can’t use it, then I will just beat you instead."

I changed my Devourer into a bo staff and extended it before attacking her quickly. She didn’t fly this time around and she started parrying and blocking my attacks now. It seems she has raised her awareness after the previous attack.

However, I already know that she will be doing her guard this time around so I will continue to attack and find a way to unleash either the Excalibur or straight-up poke her with the Rhongomyniad.

She didn’t start taunting me now and instead of blocking continuously, she started to mix in a few attacks that made me decide to also change my tactics. As she started to fire multiple light beams in every other attack, I also incorporated magic spells into the fight as well.

BOOM!

Two of our spells exploded as both our magic attacks landed against each other but we didn’t stop as the two of us continued the fight. She is trying to push me back but I keep pushing her back while keeping a guard on the altar and stopping her from doing any sort of underhanded tactics that would cause her to suddenly get an advantage.

"Wielder, I think it is time to use the Excalibur. If she keeps doing this, then fighting her with Excalibur will increase your chances of defeating her this time around."

I nodded before distancing myself from her. She fired another spell but deflected it with my Bo staff before, holding the Devourer before me and letting the Excalibur take over.

As I wielded the legendary sword, I felt a tremendous power suddenly surging right through my body. Holding it tight, I aim the sword straight at her face as I lunge straight at the Goddess of Life without hesitation.
