Versatile: Alternate World
Chapter 1023: Back to the Upper World
"It is done that fast?!" I frowned. After all, she just barely started right? And yet... she is done repairing it?!
"Why are you so surprised? I told you already that relics like these are easy to repair. Depending on the relic, I might struggle a bit depending on the severity of the relic’s damage, which is why I estimated that I might finish it the next day. But seeing the extent of the damage to the bell, I realized it wasn’t that bad so I repaired it as thoroughly as I could, and even if I do it one more time, I will be done at the same speed as right now, here have a good look on it and see for yourself."
The Lady of the Lake then handed the bell that should have been broken before. And yet, here it is, fully repaired, and looks brand new. It even had its little clanging device inside that was missing when it was still broken. How the hell did the Lady of the Lake do it?
Checking again on the relic’s description, it seems to have changed drastically like what she just said. The name has also changed as well. Maybe its effects have changed as well? After all, it has been repaired now.
-----
[Bell of Purifications and Blessings]
Info: An unknown relic that seems to exist even before the primordial times and seems to have originated back when the gods had not yet ascended and the two goddesses had yet even to be born. Because it has been repaired, its former latent powers that were previously missing are now fully restored. Its limits in usage have also been lifted, making it a very valuable relic.
Usage: Although not thoroughly tested, it was said that this bell is a tool to recall the soul of a living being that was forcefully removed by any means, like magic or a curse. Undoes the effects of those spells and curses and recalls the spirits to where they should properly belong. Because it has been restored to its former glory and given brand new life, it is now also capable of reinforcing the souls to where they should be and letting them be immune to any skills that affect their souls.
Also, it is now capable of removing curses and unremovable curses that cannot be removed by any conventional spells or potions as well as granting buffs that can enhance the abilities of those who can hear the bell’s sound. Its limits have also been lifted and can be used by multiple people and multiple times as long as it can ring and still produce sounds.
-----
As what I expected, the bell with its repaired properties is in its best form. Not only that but it is also capable of removing special effects that couldn’t be removed by any means. This is also a big thing and that is not just something to be scoffed at.
"You like it?"
"Not only do I like it, this is beyond what I expected. This is something more of a thing that I will need for the battle against the Goddess of Life and to ensure the survival of everyone."
"See? That’s why I said you should trust me. I know my stuff and I am very capable of doing it. Anyway, give it a try. You still have some injuries in your body that cannot be removed by any means like potions and magic spells right? Give it a try and maybe things might change for you."
I nodded and shook the bell a few times. I just made the bell ring a bit and the wounds that cannot be removed by magic spells or even potions that I assumed could only be removed over time have slowly disappeared and returned to normal.
"Does that mean..." I frowned. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"We don’t know for sure. It might be some sort of curse that is inflicted by the Rhongomyniad, or maybe it was just a passive power that we don’t have much idea about. In any case, the wounds you have are now gone, and seeing that you are looking good now, I think it is also time for you to move back to the Upper World."
"Upper world?" I frowned.
"Oh, right. You didn’t know this term just yet but we are currently in the Middle World. The surface where all the other people are living is called the Upper World. Deeper and beyond the Middle World is the Under World. We call it like this to distinguish all areas easily. Anyway, as I said before, since you will still be likely busy right now, you should go back and leave this place. The sooner you are done with your task, the sooner you can return the relics and our job will be easier and the trouble brewing while those weapons are gone will also disappear as well.
"Yeah, I think I should go back indeed. I can’t keep the others waiting forever while I am here relaxing. I don’t even know what time has passed by in the Upper World already."
"Should I teleport you to the upper world?"
"Nah, I should be fine. By the way, can I bring back the trike with me? That vehicle is something that I have grown to like and maybe bringing it back there might allow me to use it more frequently."
"Yeah, I think it should be fine. It’s not like it will be of much use to us anyways and seeing you use it would be much better than staying here in Agartha. Just take it for yourself since you earned it."
I nodded and started to make preparations for the return trip. Since I will have to return here later as well, I constructed a teleport waypoint here to ensure that once I needed to return the weapons, I could only teleport and return there with ease.
When I was done, I said my goodbyes to both Merlin and the Lady of the Lake before riding the Trike. Pulling out a teleport scroll, I tear it to pieces and select to return to the surface, back to the Walking Mansion.
After looking at the scenery of the Agartha and the dimension where the Earth can be seen in the distance, the Magic Circle shined brightly as I began to get transported alongside the trike. Back to the place where the battle is looming.
...
Merlin looked at the Lady of the Lake who was still waving goodbye to the teleporting young man away from the world.
"Can I ask something?"
"Sure? What is it?" the lady of the lake asked.
"You said earlier that you can’t say the premonition you saw since it will change the course of the flow of the fates if you reveal it. Now that he is gone, can you tell me what exactly have you seen back there? You look horrified for some reason?"
"Does my face not hide my shock after reading the future about him?"
"Yep. Pretty obvious face right there that I was not sure why you suddenly looked concerned and you even allowed to lend the Rhongomyniad knowing how difficult to maintain the anchor of the world without the original anchor itself."
"Well, knowing you, you could just read my mind if I did not tell you so might as well tell what I have seen so far."
"Go on," Merlin sat properly as the Lady of the Lake sat down on the nearby stone as well.
"Well, when I said that we would be involved, I said those words in the slightest way possible because when I saw the scene, we were no longer alive on that premonition and our bodies were among the pile of dead bodies that had been piling up. I don’t know what caused our deaths but it seems like something bad happened to us that we looked like we were mangled by the beast."
"I wasn’t expecting to hear that. So most of the people are dead, including us? Then who was left standing there?"
"Manato is one of the people left standing there and the other is a woman who has long black hair and is wearing a white kimono, but her complexion is pale and her kimono is drenched in blood. She is missing an arm and her right eye is also gone. As for the others, I couldn’t see properly as the people have been busy dealing with the monster that seemingly came out of nowhere."
"Just how grim was this future you have seen? Just from the little description you said, this seems to be so bloody that corpses are littered all over the place?"
"It is one of the futures we ever dreamed of not happening. One that doomsayers said to happen soon and one we are preventing from happening."
"So what is the trigger for this future to happen? I am quite sure that you have seen this future. If that is the case, there must be something for you to do to avoid this from triggering?" Merlin is now curious.
"Of course. There are two triggers that would have caused this future to happen. One is if we decided to stop Manato from leaving and force him to give up on taking the Rhongomyniad and surrendering the Excalibur. Doing so would automatically lock us out of that future as he will be forced to use all of what he can use without the usage of the relics’s power which would end up in a total bloodbath and sacrifice. As for the other one? It would also happen if Manato failed to pull the Rhongomyniad out and his hands disintegrated in the process. Due to your act of sealing Cath Palug in the past and letting Manato take care of the beast made this future unavailable for us as well."
