Versatile: Alternate World
Chapter 1022: Bell of Purification and Blessings
The Rhongomyniad and the Excalibur are now on the bag but I also suffered severe injuries in the process. The Full Restore potions I have in my inventory worked but not all of my injuries seem to have fully healed which means it either won’t heal by potions or will heal in time but will remain for quite a while.
Thanks to those potions, I can move my body again, but there are still some aching muscles here and there. Not too painful but a bit annoying especially if I want to move using some of the complicated skills I barely use but other than that, nothing too serious.
"So, with the weapons already in your arsenal, what are your next plans?" the lady of the lake asked.
"I will go back to my base of operation and use the artifact I picked up here to revive my companions who died during the battle against the Goddess of Life. Although I needed to repair it to use its potential fully, it functions fine even if it wasn’t repaired. It just has less effect than it should have in the first place but it works as intended."
"Revive? Wait, you told us earlier that people from your world will be immortal if you guys come in here right?" Merlin frowned.
"Ah, yes. If we are using the technology that the Goddess of Life created, then we will be immortal. Since she can use her basic power to repair and make a new body for the players if they die, allowing them to live forever. However, our case is not the same. The system we had is the same as you people. We just adapted it to function like the machine of the Goddess of Life but it was not a perfect copy as we cannot even replicate the same power she has like the revival after death. In short, if we die, we die fully here," I explained.
"But shouldn’t there be any way to revive a person who has died right? Isn’t that impossible to begin with unless you use Necromancy?" the lady of the lake wondered.
"My companions didn’t fully die. Their souls just separated from their bodies causing them to experience death. However, they can live if the souls are returned. Since we can’t ask the Goddess of Life to return it due to her ability to put different souls to bodies instead, we will have to rely on a more reliable way to call back their original souls and according to my Master who examined them, a relic will be needed to make them live again."
"And that relic..."
"Yes, if you guys wanted to see it, here."
I pulled the Bell of Cleansing from my inventory and showed it to them. The lady of the lake and Merlin were enthralled as they looked and read the description of the relic in their hands.
"This is a relic I have never seen before and you said you got this in Agartha? How come I didn’t know about this?" The lady of the lake was a bit shocked.
"Well, it was an unknown relic and even the one who gave me the intel also has no real idea about the name or even the looks of the relic. She just said she knew about it a long time ago as one of the legends that are said to be a real deal here in Agartha but because it wasn’t so reliable, she also said that it would be a hard search but she is sure that it was present here. And yes, I got that relic indeed."
"Where did you get this relic in the first place? We know the places where these relics appear but this is the first time we have seen or even heard of this relic before," Merlin’s eyes couldn’t even peel off to the relic even though it looked like a piece of junk.
"It dropped when I killed one of the big monsters here that tried to fight against me. I didn’t know that the monster would drop it in the first place but when it attacked me, I tried to flee only for it to chase me like without a single sign that it would stop. So in the end, to stop it fully from chasing me, I have to kill it which was a bit easier said than done. But I managed to do so and in the end, when its body disappeared, this relic dropped from where it fell. If not for the details it has given, I wouldn’t think too much about this thing."
"I see, so that means those monsters have a chance that a relic we didn’t know would drop?"
"Yes. However, I am not sure if all monsters here share the same traits as the monster I killed. But if it is, then killing these giant monsters might yield a few broken relics that can be repaired."
"But it doesn’t eliminate the chances that there might be monsters that yield unique relics that are undiscovered, yes? Then the possibility is not zero. And if these relics have these kinds of effects on them, then that is not just something that anyone would just disregard. And discovering them will be a big goal," Merlin is eager.
"You guys wanted to hunt for these relics?" I asked.
"We always look for these relics and keep them as things that can alter the world’s balance. If their effects are useful enough, then we will create replicas that will be used by people that are chosen so that they can help the world be a better place," Merlin explained.
"While we are on the topic, Manato, are you going to just move back to the surface without repairing this relic?" the lady of the lake asked.
"I don’t have the expertise and capabilities to repair this relic back to its former glory so I will use it as it is. Why?"
"If that is the case, would you be fine if you stayed here for a while and let me repair this relic back to its former glory?"
"Huh?" I was stunned by the sudden proposal of the Lady of the Lake regarding the relic.
"I am serious about restoring it to its former glory. I have repaired countless relics before so another relic to be repaired won’t change much for me. How about it? Not only its effects will be increased, but it might even gain new effects as well which might end up becoming useful for later battles against the Goddess of Life. Well? How about it? Interested?"
Repairing the Bell of Cleansing is perhaps a very good thing but how long will that even take? It might be small but repairing is not the same as creating. To repair something, they will have to restore every little thing that was broken and put it back in order. So what will happen then?
"I can see in your face he doubts. Don’t worry. If you think this will take long, no worries, it won’t take too long. I can finish repairing it today at the minimum and the maximum time would last until tomorrow. I know time is of the essence for you right now but would you rather use a broken item instead of using a fully restored one by waiting at least 1 and half a day? Don’t worry and I am not just saying some bull that is just bragging but I can prove it to you."
Although hesitant at first, I think she has a point. If I want to make the most of it, repairing it is the best way indeed.
"Fine. A day won’t be a bad thing. I still have plenty of time left for me since I found the weapons and the relic immediately. Another day to repair the thing won’t hurt."
The Lady of the Lake smiled and snapped her fingers, causing her little workshop to appear before us. It’s kind of similar to Tojiro’s smithy, the only difference is that the smithy of Tojiro looks more practical and older compared to the Lady of the Lake’s workshop which is more modern times and has multiple other stuff not related to blacksmithing attached to them.
"Then, I will go and scout ahead and see if there are any big monsters around. Killing a few might help me test the theory that these big monsters lug around some relics we can use."
I sat on the nearby rock and tended to some of my wounds as I waited for the Lady of the Lake to finish her repairs. I am not too familiar with her method of repairing but she is creating a few touches to the relic and making a few additions here and there. Just like she said, she is an expert at repairing relics that she seemed natural from.
I didn’t observe her for long so I continued to my task when she stood up and raised the relic in the air.
"Alright! The relic has finally been repaired! It’s name is now the [Bell of Purifications and Blessings]!"
