Versatile: Alternate World
Chapter 1024: Rite of Revival
When I opened my eyes once more, I was now outside the mansion’s yard with the trike in tow. I was expecting the Trike to be broken by the time it gets teleported but I am pleasantly satisfied that the result is not what I thought would be. It felt weird at first since most of the time, it felt like you were always under the night sky but now, with the sky pretty much bare for me to see, the sunlight felt like a new decoration that just appeared all of a sudden. Maybe I will get used to it soon again.
I didn’t spot anyone else outside the mansion, though I am not surprised as most of them are already dead and the only people left are not that many so it is understandable no one is here.
The mansion is still stationed on top of the Tree of Life. Waiting for the repair of the altar. I checked on the altar from afar and based on the looks, it seems only a few days before the altar will once again return to its former glory which means the final battle will also approach soon as well. Although I have the help of the Rhongomyniad and the Excalibur now in my Devourer doesn’t mean it will be an easy task for later. It will be a dangerous battle that I will have to risk.
Parking the Trike to the side, I went inside the Mansion and was welcomed by a blade in the throat by Queen Tanya.
"Eh? Manato?" Queen Tanya was surprised when I went inside and retracted the blade from my neck.
"What a warm welcome that was..." I touched my neck for a bit since I thought I would get killed before I could even say anything.
"Sorry about that, Manato. We are pretty tense right now here in the mansion so that we can defend ourselves. It was very hard doing so with only two people in charge of defending the whole place, one for surveillance on where the enemies are and one person to defend the unconscious bodies," Queen Tanya scratches her head as she puts her blade back on her sheath.
"It seems the situation while I was gone was not that great..."
Izmir went out of the kitchen while carrying a bowl of food alongside my mother.
"Welcome back. It happened not too long ago so don’t worry too much that you are taking too long, they suddenly appeared all of a sudden so we are in a bind on them suddenly causing trouble," Izmir sighed as she sat down on the sofa.
"Enemies huh? Other players?"
"Nope. Monsters and specters of some sort. Not too sure about them but they resemble as one so we call them that. Almira is already making some countermeasures to stop them even from the outside of the mansion and we can just deal with them from the outside."
Queen Tanya then glanced at my weapon. "So you are done with your task?"
"Yeah. Although I almost died many times, I did managed to grab the weapons that are needed to deal with the goddess of life. Its not a good thing to be honest but at least I am getting a chance to fight her with a winning chance."
Izmir also chimed in. "How about the thing that will allow to revive them? You got it with you?"
"Yep, I got lucky and I also got it with me in my inventory. We can even bring them back right now. We just needed a good time to do it. If the situation is still not great, we can postpone it till the situation is clear," I proposed.
"The sooner we are done with this, the better. I will inform Almira about the situation. If it is looking safe then we will do it," My Mother wipes her hands as she headed to the control room.
"Just how bad was the attack for you all to be on guard?"
"Eh, pretty much like normal monster attacks but this time, they come in waves so we only have a small window to rest before the next wave comes in. We are lucky that it has been 2 hours since they stopped attacking. Of course, it also depends whether those monsters have completely given up or they are just racking up their numbers for the next wave," Queen Tanya speculated.
"Oh, definitely the latter one. I don’t like to let my guard down with this incident. If they are capable of dishing so many enemies together, then they are just that bad that one miscalculation might end up as a big disadvantage," Izmir seems to be pretty sure about it.
I am wondering how bad was the attack to be this worn out and even to the point that Izmir who is pretty much confident in her abilities is now pessimistic to the situation.
"Just why is this attack happening in the first place?" I asked.
"It was an attack orchestrated by the Goddess of Life herself. If she is doing this, she is trying to whittle down our energy and resources to stop us from even responding to her next attack once the altar has recovered"
Someone else answered and it seems Almira is the one who answered. However, I was shocked when I saw her face. Her face is no longer the Almira I know. Her face resembles to the Goddess of Death who was currently stuck in the Yggdrasil Tree’s trunk. The oniy difference is that she is wearing the clothes of Almira and her hair is now black and white.
"Almira?"
Almira looked at me with a confused stare then she immediately realized why I have the confused look at her.
"Ah, yes. I forgot that you didn’t know about this matter, my disciple. Anyways, seeing my face right now might allow you to fully know who I am by now, yes?"
"I am still confused. Why do you look like the Goddess of Death..."
"Because I am the Goddess of Death, or to be more precise, I am one of the fragments of the Goddess of Death. As for the reason my face has become like this is because I decided to activate the power I have locked away until I became one with the other fragments. I used up some of my power which resulted in this face right now."
I was not expecting this revelation and from the looks of everyone’s face, it seems that this reveal is something that they have already expected and are within their expectations that will come true.
"Enough of that, we don’t have time. You already have the relic that we needed for their revival?" Almira asked.
That’s when I finally snapped out of it and returned to the reality of our situation.
"Yes, I have it right here," I pulled out the Bell of Purification and Blessings for everyone to see.
"A bell huh?Judging from its pristine condition, it must be fully repaired, yes? From what I heard it shouldn’t be this brand new looking," Almira took the bell from my hands and examined it.
"Yes. The Lady of the Lake repaired it for me. If not for her, this will remain as a broken relic with limited usage. Now that she restored it to its former glory, the effects has been enhanced and it is now very useful to be used," I explained.
"Then that is good. Here, take this bell, Manato. You ring the bell as you are the one who retrieved and made it fully restored. Everyone, lets gather everyone in the living room. Lets remove the furnishings first and line everyone up for the Revival Rite. The sooner they return, the better for us as we will finally have an easier time to fight with them back in action."
Queen Tanya, Izmir, Mother, and I started to remove the sofa, table and other furnitures that would make our ritual in a bad way. Thankfully, the furnitures are not that many in the living room so we only took a few of them here and there and we are good to go.
We checked our surroundings first to ensure that no enemies on sight or inbound. Once we knew that it is now safe, Almira gave me the go signal to proceed and do it.
KLANG KLANG KLANG!
The bell resounds a crisp but loud noise. It was like we are hearing a church bell ringing as I shake the bell a few times above everyone who died.
At first, nothing is happening but Almira keeps on saying to keep going and so I continue to ring it. As I continue to ring the bell, the bodies of everyone started to glow and notes starts to appear around their bodies, dancing around them. And as I continue ringing the bell, the notes starts to carry a few ethereal bodies that are slowly descending, straight back to their bodies.
