Chapter 840: The Earth Defence Force

This rune would be similar to the one that helped the Machina to keep Jason from entering their world, and since the Machina were so familiar with it, there were many Machina scientists who were working together with Azrael, Vana, and the Gaia scientists to get the finer details smoothed out!

There was so much being done at the same time, and for many people, having this much responsibility would be seen as way too much work. But Jason was different from most people, and he not only found a way to handle all of the things he needed to do, but he also made out more than enough time to spend with Gina and his family. And that was why we now see Jason in a large private jet flying over America to go and visit Gina’s family in Texas. Gina had retired her family to Texas a few years ago when she became a superhuman, and she bought a large farm for her parents to live on. Every year, Gina’s parents held a gathering of family members from all over the world for a picnic on their farm so that everyone could catch up, and just like always, Jason and the rest of his family were invited as well.

ROARRR!

Gina was sitting beside a window on the jet, and she turned around as she heard Ragnar’s roar from outside. Ragnar, Trigon, and many smaller dragons and wyverns were soaring through the air beside the jet, and Ragnar let out another loud roar in happiness as he looked around the world from so high up. Jason had allowed Ragnar and the other dragons to go out of his alternate dimension so they could spread their wings after so long. If it had been just him and Gina going to Texas, Jason would have preferred to ride on Ragnar or Trigon since they were faster, but since his mother and sister were with him, Jason decided to just use the company jet that Juliet had bought.

Gina turned away from Ragnar, and she looked down with a smile to watch Jason’s sleeping face. Jason’s head was on Gina’s lap, and Gina softly brushed her hand through Jason’s hair as she watched him sleep. Just last night, Jason had been very busy dealing with many official documents that needed his final approval, as well as a recent issue that had developed between a few countries in Europe concerning the massive gold rush that had taken over the world. Jason left most of his official work to some of the more intellectual members of his Legion, but there were times when Jason had to step in himself, and this was one of those times since Jason’s Legion couldn’t really act as mediators between countries. Jason knew that there were many countries that had large gold reserves that allowed them to buy Aqualith without issues, but there were some other countries that had to either mine for more gold or buy gold from other countries, and this issue had developed because of that.

Recently, a conflict developed in the western region of Africa concerning a few gold mines, and Jason had learnt that the conflict was actually artificially created by some European countries because the Europeans wanted to use that conflict as a way to get more gold for lower prices! Jason had intervened in the conflict, and he threatened to impose sanctions on any country that tries using such underhanded tactics again! Jason already knew that there was no way he could hope for everyone on Earth to suddenly act all happy and loving with one another. There was too much bad blood between too many countries! But Jason wouldn’t stand aside and allow a pointless conflict to distract them from their real mission! If the countries wanted to purchase gold from one another, then they would have to do it properly! There were many other cases like these around the world, but Jason couldn’t deal with all of them himself. The only reason Jason came to deal with this one was because of how large the scale was, but Jason usually left the smaller scale problems to his subordinates and guild members. Jason had left Europe right after his meeting with the European leaders, and Jason had come straight to the airport for the flight. And since Jason was so tired, he had fallen asleep on Gina’s lap the second they sat down.

"He’s been working really hard."

Gina looked up to see Janet watching Jason’s sleeping face with a wistful expression, and Gina smiled. Although they had been back for more than a month by now, Gina couldn’t remember a single day when Jason hadn’t been taking care of one issue or another, and Gina knew that if not for Jason’s Legion, which allowed him to travel great distances, then Jason would have been away from home for a very long time. But somehow, Jason managed to find a way to make everything work out properly. Even this trip to Gina’s parents’ house was something that they ought to have done a long time ago, but they moved it a bit further down because of how many things Jason had been juggling, and it wasn’t until Jason got a few days off that they decided to finally hold the picnic. Thankfully, there hadn’t been any major incidents inside the Gates that needed Jason’s intervention yet.

After the world leaders’ meeting, many countries had formed a country guild with one hundred of the strongest superhumans from their countries, just like Jason asked them to, and Jason had put them all into a single organisation that he called the Earth Defence Force or EDF for short. Basically, the EDF’s duty was to become as strong as possible in a very short time so that they could respond to any interworld conflicts that would arise in the future. Jason wanted the EDF to be one of the strongest armies in this Domain, and Jason had immediately put them to work by sending them into dangerous Gates! Right now, the EDF members were only frequenting Orange and Yellow Gates with Jason’s Legion subordinates acting as backup, but Jason was trying to gather enough mana to create a Green gate so that they could grow even faster! The end game of all this, as far as Jason is concerned, was to eventually send the EDF members out into parallel worlds that are either in the middle of a war or worlds that are filled with dangerous SSS and TITAN Rank beasts so that they would learn how to survive in such environments, but they weren’t ready yet and even though they were weak, Gina could tell that Jason was satisfied with how fast the EDF members were growing.

Jason had gathered all the Rulers that had been involved in the Green Gate raid from ten years ago, and he made them all into team leaders who would take on some of the most dangerous Yellow Gates. Jason had already killed one of the rulers, the former leader of the New Order called Yuslev, and now there were only four of them left. Katarina was the strongest supporter in the world, so Jason made her create new connections with all the existing Monarch Guild members so that their powers would be boosted from her passive effects. The former leader of the Rulers, Yuslev’s brother, Stragga, proved to be very difficult to convince, and for a moment, Jason had actually thought about killing Stragga. But Jason didn’t want to start his new tenure as a leader by killing someone so important, and Jason simply told Stragga that if he did anything stupid, then Jason would kill him and resurrect his body as a slave. Stragga knew about Jason’s abilities, and Stragga also knew that he was nowhere near Jason’s level when it came to strength! Even Jason’s subordinates were strong enough to kill Stragga! So Stragga had no choice but to obey Jason’s order, and Stragga took on a group and led them into the Yellow Gates as well.
