Chapter 841: Helga and Victor

The other two members of the Rulers had been a lot easier for Jason to recruit. One of them was a large, dangerous-looking woman who used twin swords to fight, and she had a gift that allowed her to increase her size and weight until she was a giantess more than fifteen feet tall! Her name was Helga, and at her peak strength, she had enough power to take on an SSS Rank for a few minutes! Helga had been living in France with her family while leading her own guild, and Jason didn’t have too much trouble recruiting her since she was also interested in fighting against strong enemies and getting stronger! But just like all the other rulers, Helga had also warned Jason about the extremely powerful enemies that they had seen inside the Green Gate, and even with Jason’s immense power, Helga still felt like Jason just wasn’t strong enough to handle the Primordials.

"Those things weren’t like regular creatures. They were monsters unlike anything I’ve ever felt. Your power is undoubtedly great, but it’s missing something. Compared to what I felt that day, it’s almost like your power is slightly... thinner in comparison. If your mana is like water, then I’ll say the mana I felt then had the thickness of honey. It was suffocating."

This is what Helga had said to Jason when describing the Primordials, and Jason could see the genuine fear in her eyes as she spoke about them. Jason had already grown very confident in his power because he believed he was strong enough to handle anything that came his way right now, but Jason realised at that moment that he was still too weak. Jason decided that once he was done taking care of things here on Earth, he would leave to continue his training. Jason needed to reach the realms of the Primordials as soon as possible.

After leaving Helga in France, Jason finally went to grab the final Ruler, and this person turned out to be a little more difficult to recruit. The last member of the Rulers was a man named Victor Rodriguez, and during the past ten years, Victor had created one of the largest businesses in Mexico that brought in millions of dollars every month, but this business was only a front, and Jason easily found out that Victor was actually the head of the largest underworld gang in the fucking world! Jason had spoken to Victoria Sanchez, the leader of the Black Market guild, to get more information on Victor, and Victoria told Jason that Victor had gone into hiding the moment he heard about Jason’s power, and he was currently in a bunker thousands of feet underground because he was afraid that Jason would find him!

Apparently, Victor had become so traumatized from his fight in the green gate all those years ago that Victor never took up a weapon to fight ever again, and Victor just used the power he already had as an SS Rank to bully other people and make money from selling drugs and guns. Jason had been in total disbelief when he heard all this, and Victoria watched as Jason narrowed his eyes towards a random direction. A few seconds ticked by, and Victoria was about to ask Jason what he was doing, but in the next moment, Jason suddenly vanished, and Victoria jumped slightly as a shadowy figure appeared in front of her! That was terrifying!

Jason appeared right inside the bunker where Victor was hiding, and he saw Victor naked, sitting on a large couch while sticking his tongue out to take a grape from a beautiful woman’s naked breasts. There were three other naked women there as well, and everyone in the room froze in shock when Jason appeared! Jason grabbed a seat from behind him and sat on it calmly before he waved his hand while watching Victor.

"Please, don’t stop on my account. Go on."

Victor wisely chose not to do that, and he sat up straight and used his hands to cover his crotch before he told all the girls to get out! The girls quickly ran towards another room, and Victor asked Jason what he could help him with while sweating. Jason asked Victor if he hadn’t heard about the changes the world was going through, and Victor chuckled nervously.

"I-I’m not much of a fighter, Jas – I mean, lord Jason. I don’t remember the last time I went into a gate." 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

"What’s your gift?"

"I...I can channel lightning through my body and weapons, and people tell me I am quite fast."

Jason hummed calmly once he heard this, and Jason thought for a few seconds before he shrugged nonchalantly.

"Sorry, but you’re too useful. I can’t let you rot here. Maybe if your gift was shit, I would’ve just put you in jail and forgotten about you, but you’re too strong for that."

Victor felt a sense of dread coming over him when he heard Jason say this, and Victor quickly spoke up!

"N-No! I’m not useful at all! I swear! I’m the most useless in a fight! I haven’t been inside a Gate in ten years, and I’ll just hold everyone back!"

"And yet you’re still an SS Rank. You still went into a Green Gate ten years ago and fought to protect humanity. You might be a coward, but you aren’t useless."

Victor’s face fell, and he spoke up with a shaky voice.

"Have you heard about it? What we saw in that Gate?"

"Yes."

"Then why are you doing all this!? Doesn’t it frighten you? Those monsters aren’t something we can catch up to! There was only one Primordial there that day, and it wiped out all the Gaia agents and would’ve killed us too if not for that man! If more of those monsters appear in this world, we won’t stand a chance! Even if humanity trained and fought for a hundred years, I don’t know if it’ll be possible to catch up to them!"

"I don’t need a hundred years from you. I just need one. Humanity might be weak and pathetic right now, but we don’t have to be that way forever. We have a chance to grow our strength and gain allies. Even if we can’t match the strength of the Primordials, we can at least make it so that we aren’t helpless against our neighbours. As for the Primordials, my father is currently dealing with them, and when I’m ready, I’ll join him. Focus on Earth and the people here, and leave those bastards to us."

Father? Victor was shocked when he heard Jason call that man his father, and Victor finally took time to really look at Jason’s appearance. Victor put a hand on his face and chuckled miserably! How in the world could he have missed such an obvious resemblance! Jason looked like a carbon copy of that man! Victor sighed before he looked into Jason’s eyes, and in them he saw absolute certainty! Jason had heard stories from every single Ruler about how dangerous and impossibly strong the Primordials were, and instead of it discouraging him, Jason had actually become more determined to win against them now!

Victor chuckled again as he realised that this was the difference between Jason and the rulers. All the rulers had buckled and broken under the weight of fear when they faced the Primordials, but Jason refused to yield, and he was moving forward towards a brighter future while dragging humanity along. Jason still didn’t know if he could win against the Primordials, but Jason wanted to make this world stronger, and Jason decided he would do it whether humanity liked it or not.

Victor hummed as he started thinking about Jason’s offer, and Jason deadpanned when he saw this. Did Victor think Jason was giving him a choice?
