Chapter 158: The Birth Of "The Final Born"

Don Laban scratches the back of her head with her eyes closed and nonchalantly answers the first of Saku’s questions.

Don Laban: "Yea, Herfjötur was always fascinated with the most ancient personified versions of justice and revenge. She was the survivor from the third wave of DæMons and eventually, she became one of the catalyst for the retaliation towards our mothers. Once I stopped receiving responses from the mountains I had control of, I used my Eyelien ability and found out she had killed the remaining two Sisters. After Nephilim killed the perverted uncle from my adopted Mafia family."

Saku, with his Anjell Eye still popped off, gives a confused look towards the woman to his right.

Saku: "...Herfjötur’?...’Survivor of the third wave?"

Laban takes a second to answer, then looks at both Itsuka and Shelly.

Don Laban: "All Dæmon are named after their Valkyrie mother. The Valkyrie and Völva decided to defy, not only the laws of nature, but also defy the change in theology like the male Vikings."

She looks at Drakaina.

Don Laban: "It’s true, they foresaw the witch-hunts but also knew some of their children would rebel, like all children do. Because they copulated at the same time on top of the world, using Seiõr, by the time they returned home they had birthed what was known as ’wave one’ of DæMons.

All DæMon are born as female infants for less than 3 days.

By 1 month old, we were all around the size of our beautiful princesses here."

Drakaina is fascinated by the birth and aging process of the Old Norse clan. Sounding like one of the myths her mother would tell.

Don Laban: "After 5 years, we are the size of the average 16 year old, but have the memory of our ’brilliant’ Valkyrie mothers and the conscious comprehension of our Völva mothers an hour after our birth. However, like all parents who have children out of selfishness, there were differences with how the children should be raised."

Katsu and Saku look at each other.Knowing perfectly well they grew up in completely different households, with different upbringings.

The DaeMon looks at Saku.

Don Laban: "The Norse woman soldiers were very stubborn on the toughness of their children, because the universe is only created for the satisfaction of the strong."

Laban moves her eyes from Saku to Katsu all the way at the opposite corner of the table.

Don Laban: "The Völva however, believed teaching their children to get stronger for others, not just personal pride and glory was the proper programming for their unnatural but still organic computer children. The women who were fortunate to be accepted by Seiõr, would also tell lies about Seiõr to their children. Only to make their children believe they could lose their born privilege if they didn’t comply."

Dom: "Almost like Santa?"

Laban comedically shoots a look of pure evil over to him and Dom begins shaking uncontrollably.

Don Laban: "If you ever interrupt me again with your mentally hilarious comments, I will tear your fuckin dick off, put it between that sesame seed bun, and make you eat it! You fuckin got that!?"

Itsuka and Shelly both have their elbows on the table, with their chin in their palm looking at Laban.

Itsuka and Shelly: "Changed, huh?"

The Pink Princess looks at her new older sister Princess.

Princess Kawaii(whispers): "What’s a dick?"

Princess Rebekah(whispers): "I think it’s another word for his nose."

Princess Kawaii: "Ohhhh...."

The now timid Dom looks at Saku and his captain just takes a mouthful of fries while still focused on what his/Laban’s ability is showing him.

Laban does a quick 180° in attitude and turns back to Saku.

Don Laban: "I’m sorry Sakiii, where was I? Oh yea, so anyway, our mothers decided the only way to compromise, was to have their superhuman daughters from each wave, fight to the death until only one remained. Proving their individual strength, and giving pride to the Valkyrie mothers who had daughters that survived. Then the Völva were allowed to basically brainwash the survivors of each wave afterwards, making the winners believe the deaths of their wave sisters was the fuel for their desire to continue living and fighting. Believing it would inspire them against any enemy who tried to hurt the family."

Itsuka and Shelly both look at each other, knowing their individual but also connected ancestry towards the two clans.

Laban notices the two young women reacting to the cruel history of the clans, that rejected their respective links.

Jormungand: "So you had to kill your own siblings to survive?"

The little brother looks at his older sister he cares for more than anything. Tears begin to fill in his human and IceEye making the older sister embrace Jorm without him having to saying anything.

Drakaina: "Ohhhh, Jormyyy! I couldn’t kill you even if I was forced to either!"

While they have a heartwarming moment of empathy, Shelly gives a skeptical expression, mouth to the side.

Shelly: "I thought the entire reason for having an army of ’magic children’ was to have a defense against the witch hunts. How did two clans of women, make such a barbarically stupid decision, as having their soldiers kill each other?"

Laban picks her teeth with her nail and answers.

Don Laban: "Funny you would ask that, Skalmönd, since I can’t answer that question with 100% certainty. I can only see with my Omnipotence N-Eye, as far as the moment I was born, so I have no choice but to believe what my older sisters told me. But I figured it was because their mothers assumed the cause for the future witch hunts would be an overwhelming amount of children who were accepted by Seiõr at birth. Eventually that would cause the scared followers of Yin to irrationally hunt down anyone practicing what they declared as ’witchcraft’. So to the Valkyrie and the Völva, it was also a form of population control."

She looks back over at the siblings who have calmed down and Drakaina blows her nose with the fast food napkin. The DaeMon then looks at Shelly and Katsu, the adopted siblings who live for each other and not for themselves.

Don Laban: "Technically, I never had to kill one of my sisters. I had no "wave" to survive like my DæMon family, because I was essentially the ’Final Born’."

Dom: "Don’t you mean ’the youngest’?"

Laban’s Eyelien pops off to 2nd Stage with a smokey aura that matches the engulfed eye against Itsuka and she stands up, looming over the Gunner.

Don Laban: "THE FUCK DID I JUST TELL YOU!?!! YOU’VE LOST YOUR DICK PRIVILEGES, YOU LIL CUCK!!"

Saku calmly puts his hand on her shoulder and as soon as the Don notices she’s being touched by the man she admires, her attitude comedically does a 180° again as she nuzzles up to him.

But with the same hand he used to sit her down, Saku uses to separate himself and she continues.

Don Laban: "To some believers of the Old Norse traditions, calling someone the ’Last Born’ means they either die fighting to rekindle the light of their clan’s ways, or they are the end of the clan’s ways entirely. From what I was told by my sisters, the revolution happened after Herfjötur could successfully create ’SeiõrShots’ and then taught the technique to her 6 ’Surviving Sisters’ after the 7th Wave’s battle had been decided."

Shelly: "...’SeiõrShots’? What the hell are those and why do all these Seiõr terms need to have alliteration?

SeiõrSnow.

SeiõrShield.

SeiõrShots.

Gets a little exhausting if you ask me."

Katsu thinks for a second and perks up realizing another one.

Katsu: "And SunSwords,haha!"

Itsuka(thinking): *I will sorta admit..it is kinda clever.*

Don Laban: "My Völva mother, Heiðr, was the life partner to my Valkyrie mother, Eir. After the seventh battle was over, they had no surviving children. The highly respected Völva, Heiðr, had an untimely heart disease that Seiõr couldn’t heal or couldn’t delay the decline of her health."

Katsu, Saku, and Shelly both look at their Princess eating more nuggets, not listening to the DaeMons full origins. Both knowing about the little girl’s father and his own untreatable heart issue.

Don Laban: "So, Heiðr and Eir decided to fornicate the day after my seventh wave sister’s death instead of waiting for the scheduled orgy with the rest of the conforming women of both clans. They immediately eloped here to Vinland, and I was born on a cargo Knarr in the middle of a storm three days later. All that trouble and the disloyalty to their clans, just to create my unwanted existence. For the sake of their own non-conforming selfishness."

Saku listens and thinks of his own mother and how he always thought of her as selfish.

Saku(thinking): *I always resented my mother for bringing life into this world, when she couldn’t love her own existence. It might not be as ’magical’ as Laban’s upbringing, but emotions and resentment don’t have to be magic.*

The DaeMon gathers herself for a moment before dictating the next page to her story.

Don Laban: "After giving birth to me, my Völva mother died the next morning."

Jormungand and Drakaina are now relating to the reveal and both their eyes widen.

Jorm turns to look at his sister but Drakaina refuses her instinct to do the same but the guilt tears in her eyes gives her away.

Jorm(thinking): *Drakaina told me our mother died giving birth to me...but it was out of anger. But, no matter how she feels while stating a fact, if the fact is true, then it was just a true fact hidden from me.*

Don Laban: "When I had the mentality and physical size of an 8 month old baby, Eir put the deceased Heiðr in the two person emergency boat and watched it drift away. Once far enough, with a single flaming arrow, she launched it at the wood boat and watched it engulf in flames. With me, slowly but actively growing, in my phallic mother’s arms, we watched the Yin half of my complimentary force into existence, disappear from both of our existences."

Shelly: "So how did you end up being part of the group that killed my ancestor?"

Laban smiles at Shelly’s interest.

Don Laban: "I see you’re invested in the story, Skalmönd. Do you and the child of Iôunn perhaps feel guilty for what your ancestors did to their own children?"

Shelly and Itsuka raise an eyebrow at the attempt to guilt trip them.

Itsuka: "Nice try DaeMon, but Shelly and I both know our connections to those clans were exiled and didn’t partake in the creation of DaeMons or DæMons."

Shelly: "You see Laban, we don’t feel guilty for the things done in the past by people who so happened to have looked like us. Even if our unchosen lineage has a dark, dirty, and unforgivable past, our lives are our own lives. If someone can’t separate two different individuals, just because of their immediate appearance, that’s none of our problem.

We can only do our best as humans, is to ignore the irrational finger pointing, and help those who deserve it. Not those who look to get payback."

Itsuka has a beautiful lip ringed smile while letting her rivaling vice captain’s speech.

Don Laban has her arms crossed, smirking at the "true ruler of Roronora City".

Shelly: "Do I avoid men who look like the man who killed my mother? No.

It’s all about the information we store and what we force our sensors to process as definitive information. So miss me with any ’unable to empathize’ shit, DaeMon. If we all as humans kept complaining about how the negativity of the past, is effecting the present, then how do we move on towards the future?"

Katsu smiles at Shelly’s words with his arms folded on the table, and his head on top.

Don Laban(sighs then chuckles): "Well Skalmönd, I gotta tell ya, your ability to talk someone’s ear off about the "philosophical justice" of the universe definitely got passed down. A couple of my homies would probably get really irritated from that sentiment but we’ve gotten off track.

So, a whole week after my parents left the shores of Scandinavia, my Valkyrie mother had docked her ship on the shores of this continent. Unfortunately, my older sisters were already waiting for her. As if they had know where she was heading and teleported there, but I later found out they had ran across the water using Seiõr and avoided the storm I was born in, entirely. They killed my Valkyrie mother but before the final strike she told them that I had killed my Völva mother during birth. So they kept me alive out of that respect alone. As if I had any control over the situation."

Laban looks down at her food recalling the events she barely remembers.

Don Laban: "My older sisters raised me and taught me how to fight but I was dependent on myself to learn the control of Seiõr I was accepted by at birth. Which I never fully learned to master like they had. A short year after helping them defeat the most respectable Valkyrie to ever live, I was ostracized from the clan for not being able to obtain a SeiõrShield that wasn’t the red or the sad blue color, Seiõr shows pity with."

Saku finally rests his Anjell Eye to it’s base-kit, and lets out a deep sigh making everyone turn their attention to him.

Itsuka: "Well? What did you see, Saku? And why did you ask the DaeMon about her sister by name?"

Saku takes a sip from the straw in his drink and answers after a refreshing exhale.

Saku: "Welp, I don’t know if what I saw with Princess Rebekah’s ability can be changed, but within 6 hours, MamMon DæMon is gunna have an small army of Seiõr users pull up here in Roronora and she’s gunna try making outlandish demands."
