Chapter 415: Chapter 417: The Elusive Man [6/7]

The Lord of the Four Seas took a private jet to Hezong Country. He hoped that Wu Tian wouldn’t be late either. Yet, he had a feeling this Hezong Country Convention might witness some unusual events.

「Hezong Country」

In New York City, within the United States of America, Frank from the Iron Wolf Country, the Queen of Arthur Country, the Monarch of Law, and others had already arrived. They were invited by the Monarch of the United States of America, Black Eight Horse, to a hotel near the convention hall.

The opening pleasantries were brief. Once inside the room, they sat according to their status as host and guests.

Who was the host and who were the guests was quite clear. It wasn’t determined by age or personal ability, but by the sheer power of one’s nation.

Black Eight Horse naturally took the head seat. Only after he was seated did the other monarchs take their places.

"Let’s cut to the chase," Black Eight Horse said with a gentle, gentlemanly smile, his gaze calm. "This Hezong Country Convention was actually convened because of that Martial God. What are your thoughts on him?"

With that question, all the monarchs knew that Black Eight Horse, with his unique charisma and rhetoric, had already seized control of the conversation. If you wanted to speak, you first had to answer his question. But as the other monarchs considered it, they realized the question was indeed unavoidable. In the current global climate, what issue could possibly be more important?

"Well then, Monarch Black Eight Horse, what are *your* thoughts on the Martial God?" the Queen of Arthur Country asked with a chuckle. "I’m just a woman with little real power these days. Why don’t you go first and give us something to consider?"

The other monarchs nodded in agreement. The United States of America was the world’s foremost power; its stance was of the utmost importance. Once they understood its intentions, the other nations could decide on their own course of action.

"The Martial God, Wu Tian..." As he spoke the name, Black Eight Horse’s expression was no longer so relaxed. It became heavy, tinged with apprehension. "This man is difficult to describe."

He pulled a thick file from a nearby drawer. "After Wu Tian destroyed Fusang, I immediately used my country’s intelligence network to investigate him overnight. This is what I found... Honestly, I simply cannot comprehend how he became so powerful."

The other monarchs present didn’t think Black Eight Horse was lying. The Monarch of Koryo also produced a file, saying, "Actually, I investigated him as well but found nothing."

Black Eight Horse was worried about Dragon Country challenging the supremacy of the United States of America. The Monarch of Koryo investigated Wu Tian because the people of Dragon Country hated the Fusangs first and the Koryoans second; he feared his kingdom might be the next to be annihilated. For that reason, the Monarch of Koryo had also launched his own special investigation.

The other monarchs, however, had not taken such measures.

"How can that be?" the Queen of Arthur Country asked, astonished. "Koryo is very close to Dragon Country, and the United States of America... with your resources, you couldn’t find anything?"

The other monarchs were also shocked.

Black Eight Horse furrowed his brow and said slowly, "Wu Tian: male, twenty-one years old, born November twenty-third, a Sagittarius. He is from Dragon Country. Father: Wu Fa, a Disciple of Ghost Valley. Mother: Murong Yezi, a descendant of the Murong Imperial Family of the former Yan State..."

He proceeded to list every detail of Wu Tian’s life from childhood, naming every person he had ever known and describing them in detail. The file was so thorough that it included every one of his elementary school test scores—details that even Wu Tian himself had likely forgotten.

"It seems his upbringing was quite normal. He didn’t start martial practice at a young age," the Monarch of Law noted with a frown.

"Exactly. That’s what we can’t figure out," Black Eight Horse replied with a bitter smile. "He never trained in martial skills as a child, so how can he be so formidable now? He isn’t some several-hundred-year-old being from the Underground World. I confirmed that point. I found the doctor who delivered him for Murong Yezi, and she guarantees, one hundred percent, that Wu Tian is twenty-one years old."

"Could a reclusive master have secretly taught him martial skills?" asked the Monarch of Odin.

"Unlikely. When Wu Tian was fifteen, he witnessed three men raping a female dog. He tried to intervene but was severely beaten, and the dog didn’t survive. Wu Tian ended up in the hospital for seven days," Black Eight Horse said. "I also found the doctor who treated him. He swore on his life that Wu Tian’s injuries were real."

The monarchs were baffled. How could a man who couldn’t even save a dog at fifteen be so powerful now? The entire situation was bizarre.

"Only..." Black Eight Horse’s expression faltered as a thought struck him.

"Only what?" the Queen of Arthur Country pressed.

"The four years that Wu Tian vanished... I can find no record of them," Black Eight Horse sighed, his voice filled with disbelief. "With my country’s intelligence channels, we couldn’t find anything? That’s... that’s simply impossible."

The other monarchs were incredulous. Who didn’t know about the power of the United States of America? Yet even they couldn’t find out where Wu Tian had been during those four missing years?

"But regardless," Black Eight Horse declared, "this time, we expect Dragon Country to make concessions! Fusang is a developed nation. I expect a share of the spoils."

The other monarchs nodded in agreement. They too wanted a share of the spoils.

Finally, the time came. It was nine o’clock in the morning. The sun’s warmth was perfect.

Black Eight Horse and the other monarchs started walking toward the Hezong Country convention hall, but suddenly, a cry echoed from the direction of the sun. It was the cry of a bird, a sound that none of them had ever heard before.

They instinctively looked up and found they could stare directly at the sun without it hurting their eyes. In the next moment, they were all overcome with shock. Within the sun, they saw the silhouette of a three-legged bird.

"Is that... the Golden Crow?" Black Eight Horse was the first to exclaim.

The other monarchs were all learned individuals and immediately recalled the Golden Crow from Dragon Country’s mythology. But how could such a mythical creature possibly exist?

"What in the world is going on?" the Queen of Arthur Country asked, but the other monarchs could only confess their own ignorance.

Suddenly, one hundred and eight people from Dragon Country swept in, rapidly redecorating the area. The venue for the Hezong Country Convention had already been decorated in a style reminiscent of a wedding, but that was just a figure of speech. Now, however, they were turning it into an actual wedding venue.

"My god, what is happening?" The monarchs were dumbfounded.

One of them strode forward and demanded, "You people from Dragon Country, what are you doing here? Who told you to decorate this building like this?"

"Wu Tian!"

"He’s our boss. If you have a problem, take it up with him!"

"Yeah. Just hope your kingdom is tougher than that little island nation."

The monarch who had spoken instantly fell silent, not daring to utter another word.
