Relentless Pursuit After Divorce - Chapter 1894: Summer Hall Side Story (96)
Edward Smith didn’t say another word to them and got up to go upstairs.
The butler glanced at Edward Smith’s back and then at Olivia, dressed in designer clothes, and sighed.
Even though she’s not really the eldest lady, she’s been raised to the standards of one. What kind of work could she possibly do?
However, since the Young Master has given the order, he has to follow it.
"Miss, please come with me. There’s no heavy work at home, just some cleaning tasks."
Seeing the butler was really going to arrange for Olivia to do a servant’s work, Thomas Smith, already fuming, exploded on the spot.
"Cleaning? Are they really treating you like a servant!"
Fuming, he grabbed Olivia’s hand and strode outside, refusing to let go no matter how much Olivia struggled.
"Second Brother, let me go, Second Brother."
The Smith Family’s ancestral mansion is large, with just the garden encompassing over a thousand square meters.
Thomas dragged Olivia along, not knowing how far they walked, until both were out of breath and finally stopped.
Thomas turned back to see Olivia’s eyes red from crying, her face streaked with tears. His heart ached intensely.
"Olivia, don’t be sad. Second Brother won’t let them bully you."
Thomas reached out to wipe the tears from her face, frowning as he spoke:
"Right now, Dad, Mom, and Big Brother have all been misled by Helen Melendy. Who knows what tricks that woman used to make them so easily let go of thirty years of affection for you. They’re all confused now."
Olivia bit her lip, nodding while crying, her tearful eyes looking at Thomas as she choked out:
"Second Brother, I don’t blame Mom and Dad, or Big Brother. After all... after all, I’m not originally a child of the Smith Family. It’s understandable that they have no feelings for me."
As she spoke, she heavily wiped her face, looking exceptionally sad and forlorn.
"I just want to stay by their side. You all are my only family in this world. I really can’t bear to leave you."
As she spoke, her hands tightly clutched Thomas’s arm, crying:
"Second Brother, I really don’t care about being the Smith Family’s eldest lady. I can even do a servant’s work. As long as I’m allowed to stay in this house, I don’t mind anything."
The more she humbly pleaded like this, the more upset Thomas felt, and the more he resented Helen Melendy.
"Second Brother knows you care and are loyal to us. Don’t worry, as long as I’m here, you won’t need to be a servant. Send that money back to Big Brother. If you need money, just tell Second Brother, and he’ll give it to you."
Olivia nodded with tear-filled eyes, "Thank you, Second Brother."
"Alright, stop crying. If you keep crying, it’ll make Helen Melendy laugh."
He comfortingly patted Olivia’s shoulder and said:
"Anyway, in Second Brother’s heart, you’re the only sister, and no one can replace you."
Olivia was cheered up by Thomas’s words, breaking into a smile through her tears.
Seeing her smile, Thomas finally breathed a sigh of relief.
With Thomas as her protector, even if his power wasn’t very strong, it brought Olivia some temporary peace of mind.
Looking at Olivia’s innocent and pure face, Thomas suddenly recalled what Big Brother said about her sending someone to watch Helen Melendy for two years and the medication analysis report Big Brother had shown him.
After some hesitation, Thomas spoke:
"Olivia, there’s something you must truthfully answer to Second Brother, otherwise, if anything goes wrong, Second Brother can’t help you."
