Gabriel rolled on the ground, shouting from the pain he felt across his body.

It felt like his insides had been set on fire, as if his veins were filled with burning lava, as if his own bones were scalding hot pieces of metal.

He looked around at the hovering immortals, looking like a heretic priest who was begging for someone to hear him out.

He just needed them to understand.

His skin started to dissolve into black and yellow goo. The reversed Conquering Essence was eating him from the inside out.

But reversed Conquering Essence was not only going to take away their powers, but it was going to kill them in the process just like how it was doing to Gabriel.

It was the same thing that had happened in the series of Annihilations started by the late Empress Elizabeth and her Regent.

It was the same thing that happened when Derylia had offered her powers to the dragons for the first time.

It did not differentiate between weak and strong.

A tier 6 Anti-Lion may not be able to do much to a tier 7 and would probably have zero effect on an immortal.

But the reversed Conquering Essence did not care. Whether they were immortal or not, it had almost the same effect.

This did not mean that the Conquering Essence was omnipotent though. Strong lions could force themselves to survive long enough to escape the source of the reversed Conquering Essence.

For that was the only true defence against Reversed Conquering Essence.

To escape.

If it came in very small amounts, any lion could try to use their will to survive the pain as the Conquering Essence would be consumed before it could kill them.

If the Reversed Conquering Essence was at the right amount, they could only hope for a quick death or for another lion to come and share their agony.

Because Reversed Conquering Essence was operating in terms of quantity, not quality.

Quantity was all that mattered when it came to weaponizing reversed Conquering Essence.

With the right quantity, even a supreme immortal will fall.

The amount of Reversed Conquering Essence Kael must have gathered just for this event must have been staggering. Especially when he hadn’t been sure who the traitor was.

A massive gust of power surged out of Gabriel. The gist of power was not only very powerful and apocalyptic, but it also made the surrounding lions very uncomfortable.

Like they were staring at the embodiment of an insult.

Meanwhile, Kael who still had the pillar of golden energy flowing out of his mouth to corrupt the rules of the Original Heaven shuddered.

His limbs trembled and his gaze blurred.

Even though he had taken an allegedly intangible spirit form at the final moment, it wasn’t so simple. Gabriel was too strong.
