Chapter 21: Abyss Crown Phoenix Bloodline

After hesitating for a long moment, Leon gritted his teeth and bit off a nail-sized piece of the fruit and swallowed it.

When the fragment of the fruit reached his stomach, Leon was already expecting a storm of qi to erupt in his stomach, but at that time, the Primordial Law Codex suddenly appeared before his eyes and a new page was opened.

[Primordial Law Codex - page no: 3]

[Owner: Leon (human)]

[Bloodline: ???]

[Special type of qi capable of reconstructing the damaged bloodline heart artifact stored in the codex was found. Collect 100 units of similar energy to reconstruct the artifact and bond with it. Do you wish to proceed?]

[Current units gained: 0.00]

Leon was stunned for a moment before he looked at the blood red fruit in his hand in surprise. "Special qi? What special qi, and what the hell is this broken artifact you stored inside you?"

Even though Leon asked, as expected he didn’t get an answer.

With a defeated sigh on his face, Leon gave the command to proceed and the energy he just felt in his stomach after he ate the fragment of the hundred beast blood fruit vanished completely.

At the same time, the text on the third page changed.

[Special type of qi capable of reconstructing the damaged bloodline heart artifact stored in the codex was found. Collect 100 units of similar energy to reconstruct the artifact and bond with it. Do you wish to proceed?]

[Current units gained: 0.90]

Since there was the big boss to absorb the energy, Leon didn’t hesitate and popped the fruit in his hand directly into his mouth. Although it was a bit hard to swallow, the moment the fruit reached his stomach, it vanished once again.

[Bloodline: ???]

[Special type of qi capable of reconstructing the damaged bloodline heart artifact stored in the codex was found. Collect 100 units of similar energy to reconstruct the artifact and bond with it. Do you wish to proceed?]

[Current units gained: 40.10]

"One fruit contains around 40 units of energy," Leon rubbed his chin thoughtfully and popped a second fruit into his mouth.

[Current units gained: 82.10]

After that, he cut one fruit in half and swallowed it, making the energy unit hit 100. With that, the text on the third page also changed.

[Primordial Law Codex - page no: 3]

[Owner: Leon (human)]

[Bloodline: ???]

[Repaired bloodline heart artifact contains: 89.96% divine phoenix bloodline (emperor), 0.01% all devouring phoenix bloodline (noble), 4.56% nether phoenix bloodline (emperor), 5.47% ice phoenix bloodline (king)]

[Because of the high concentration of divine phoenix bloodline, once bonded you will awaken the divine phoenix bloodline. But considering the current damaged state of your cores, the best bloodline for you is the all devouring phoenix bloodline. Do you wish to know more about the all devouring phoenix bloodline or continue with the divine phoenix bloodline awakening?]

"Phoenix bloodlines, huh? Most probably related to something this body’s mother left in his body," Leon rubbed his chin thoughtfully. From his memories, he seemed to recall that his mother had once told him about the divine phoenix and the nether phoenix as two of the most powerful phoenixes in the world.

He had also heard about the ice phoenix bloodline, but this was the first time he had ever heard of the all devouring phoenix bloodline.

After thinking for a moment, Leon still decided to know more about the all devouring phoenix bloodline, as he believed the decision of the Primordial Law Codex more than his limited knowledge.

[All devouring phoenix is a bloodline derived from the strongest phoenix species that lived in the primordial era. From their ancestors, the all devouring phoenix received the ability to devour all types of qi in the world to strengthen itself. Due to this, their cultivation speed is not bound to the quality of their core.]

[Disadvantage: The quality of the qi cultivated through the devouring ability of the all devouring phoenix will be weak due to the presence of multiple types of qi in it. Breaking through to higher realms is extremely difficult because of this.]

[Spend 32,000 life essence points and sacrifice all the other bloodlines in the bloodline artifact to make the all devouring phoenix bloodline evolve into its ancestral form. Do you wish to proceed?]

...

Although the amount was a bit expensive, Leon still gave the command to proceed. After all, last time when he spent 20,000, he got a gatling gun which was goated to the max. So he was eager to find out what surprise this 32,000 would give him.

Two minutes after Leon gave the command, his body suddenly started to heat up and he felt a stabbing pain at his head, as though someone was trying to gouge out his brain.

Clutching his head in agony, Leon gritted his teeth to endure the sharp pain coursing through his body. About half an hour later, the pain once again worsened as he felt something like worms crawling from his brain through every part of his body.

At the same time, pitch black flames as dark as the abyss covered his entire body, almost obscuring his features as though he had turned into a dark creature made of shadow.

Even the light coming from the window was mysteriously devoured by the dark energy.

After about two hours of brutal torture, Leon finally came back to his senses and looked at his hands in disbelief.

His hands were now covered in pitch black fire which burned with no heat or sound, only an eerie silence which seemed to absorb everything around him.

Meanwhile, his senses had undergone some changes. Now even without looking through his eyes, he could see everything around a one meter radius directly in his mind.

What was even more shocking was that he could actually now see inside his own body, his organs, his meridians, his cores, everything.

This was the first time Leon had actually seen what the inside of his body looked like. First was the vital qi core which was located inside the heart in an illusory space. It was like a red bead with a faint darker red line composed of some runes running through its circumference.

At the same time, there were four vital qi meridian networks running throughout his body connected to his heart like veins pumping blood, but in reality what they pumped was vital qi mixed with weapon qi of four different types.

There were also remnants of some broken meridians which no longer functioned, but judging from their structure and the fact that they were also connected to his heart, Leon could guess that they were part of his original vital qi meridian network which got destroyed when his bloodline heart was removed.

Next was the area inside his lower abdomen. Here also, like a disabled network of railways, a bunch of unused meridians of different colors were scattered around. They connected to the illusory space at his lower abdomen, but unlike the illusory space at his heart, this one was just empty with nothing inside.

The final one was the spirit core which was located in the illusory space inside his brain. This one was a golden core with a slightly darker shade of gold line running through its diameter carved with some ancient runes.

But unlike the vital qi core, this core had obvious cracks, as though it was a cracked glass ball with spiderweb like cracks all around it.

One more noteworthy thing was that there was also a set of broken meridians which were golden in color connected to this core’s illusory space, but at this point they were not pumping qi into the spirit core. Instead, the actual meridian network which was pumping qi into the spirit core was all pitch black like ink and seemed quite scary to look at.

The reason it was described as scary was because, unlike the other meridian networks in his body which had a definite structure, this one was just like smoke with no structure, rhythm or anything. Dark smoke even drifted from it occasionally like a smoking chimney.

All in all, it looked no less than a water pipe with multiple leaks all over it.

......

After about three more hours of struggle, Leon was finally able to recall all the black flames covering his body back into the spirit qi meridians as he received the information on how to control it from the golden pendant that mysteriously appeared on his neck.

"Isn’t this the same magical artifact that I used to teleport to this forest?" Leon touched the golden ornate cross like pendant on his chest with disbelief.

After he was teleported here, this thing vanished. Leon first thought that it was destroyed after exhausting its power, but it seems the Primordial Law Codex had actually absorbed it back then.

...

After reviewing the Primordial Law Codex, Leon was shocked once more. The points he needed to fill in order to advance to the second heaven of mortal realm for his spirit qi cultivation also became 100,000 like his vital qi cultivation, and it had actually increased to 131 from the previous mere 1 point.

There were some changes on the third page. It now displayed the bloodline as ’Abyss Crown Phoenix Bloodline’ which was at the emperor level, and there was a new bloodline skill called the ’Obsidian Crown Flame’.

With the introduction of this bloodline skill, a new type of point like the life essence point, called the spirit essence point, also appeared, which he could use to increase the proficiency of his bloodline skill.
