Chapter 22: Making up excuses!

"what kind of freaking monster are you, brat?" 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Just as Leon was reviewing the information about his new bloodline skill that appeared in his mind, he heard Silas’s voice in front of him.

At first, he thought it was a hallucination, but when he rubbed his eyes, he saw the old man standing in front of him with a frown on his face.

"What the... how did you appear here?" Leon jumped back in fright as he pointed at the old man.

Silas just waved his hand dismissively. "Stop yelling like a little girl. First tell me, where did you get this bloodline artifact and how in the freaking world did you bond with it?"

Leon took a deep breath to calm his nerves and said, "It’s something my mother left for me before her death. She told me to use it to escape if my life was ever in danger...."

Silas shook his head. "Don’t elaborate. I know what that thing is. Tell me how you formed a bond with it."

Leon frowned. "I don’t know. Seven years ago, I used it as per my mother’s instruction and it teleported me and my sister to this place. After that, I never saw this thing, until now when it mysteriously appeared on my neck as a pendant."

Silas remained silent for a moment. "After you told me your background, I did some investigation on my own and found out quite a few things about your mother."

He then pointed at the ornate golden cross on Leon’s neck, "According to my information, the pendant on your neck is the last bloodline heart artifact left behind by the first ancestor of the Everheart family. Over the years no one was able to bond with it, until the youngest daughter of the family head of the Everhearts was able to gain its recognition."

Leon scratched his head in confusion. "What’s the problem with that? I am her son, obviously she gave it to me."

"Idiot," Silas rolled his eyes. "Your mother has already bonded to it and even if she wanted to, she can’t pass it to you. When she gave it to you, she might have left a part of her soul inside it. That’s why you were able to activate it and escape the Skywalkers. But once the soul she left inside the bloodline heart artifact faded, the artifact also lost its life."

Leon finally understood the problem. "So it was practically impossible for me to bond with it?"

Silas narrowed his eyes. "Unless the soul inside you is the real owner of this bloodline artifact and you are someone capable of deceiving even me."

Leon rolled his eyes. "Yeah, I am the first ancestor of the Everheart family, currently possessing one of my descendants’ bodies. By the way, nice to meet you."

Silas sneered. "Get lost. Your soul is so weak that even if you claimed to be one of the ordinary guards in the Everheart family, I would not believe you, much less the ancestor."

Leon stared at the old man speechlessly. "If you already know, why are you even suspecting me?"

Silas rubbed his temples with a sigh. "Because there are people in this world who are capable of deceiving even death itself. The main reason why I am here was to look for such a person. But even after all this time, I didn’t find any clue related to him. It’s as though he had truly died."

Leon pointed at himself and asked, "You think I am that person you are looking for?"

Silas shook his head again. "Although that guy is capable of deceiving me and he is also a genius when it comes to comprehending techniques like you, it will never be to this extent where he could casually modify a god level technique and even practice it to perfection. Furthermore, if you were really him, you would never let me look at your meridian structure which would easily let me identify signs of possession."

Leon and Silas didn’t speak for a long time. In the end, Silas sighed. "I don’t know what method she used to pass her bloodline artifact onto you, but most likely she only partially bonded with the bloodline artifact. To be precise, only with the Divine Phoenix Bloodline. This explains why you awakened the Abyss Crown Phoenix Bloodline. It must have remained as a separate unbonded part in some corner of the bloodline artifact."

"And when your mother’s soul finally disappeared along with the part of the Divine Phoenix Bloodline, the Abyss Crown Phoenix Bloodline might have taken the opportunity to bond with you on its own. But since its quantity was quite low, even I was not able to detect it until now. Somehow it got an opportunity to strengthen itself and you awakened it."

Leon looked at the old man who was making up excuses for him without him even needing to say anything and felt quite fortunate in his heart. He even took out the hundred year beast blood fruit and showed it to the old man.

Silas stroked his beard and nodded with an ’everything is clear’ look on his face. "No wonder. This fruit is known to stimulate unawakened bloodlines and you took one at the copper grade. With this level of energy, if not for this artifact absorbing most of the energy in the fruit, you might have exploded. You are really lucky."

Leon nodded along. Such perfect excuses. Even if he brainstormed for a year, he might not be able to come up with such convincing excuses.

......

In a hotel room of the Rose Valley Town,

a beautiful lady and a handsome young man stood at the balcony of the hotel room as they looked at the night sky filled with twinkling stars.

"Congratulations sister. Since you have already awakened your bloodline heart, those people won’t be able to force you to marry anymore," the young man said with a smile.

Sera tucked a loose strand of her hair behind her earlobe and shook her head. "No, they will still force me. But now that I have a master who can officially accept me as her disciple according to the rules of the Moon Palace, I am not afraid of the Skywalkers."

The young man said with a sigh, "It’s a pity that even though Aren is a pervert and bastard with no moral values, his talent is unquestionable. Even after knowing his character, there are tons of young ladies who are ready to serve themselves on a golden plate in front of him."

Sera just smiled mockingly. "There may be such women, but I am not one of them. The person I want as my husband is someone who can find happiness in being with me, not someone who treats me like one of the hundred toys he has at his home."

The young man chuckled helplessly. "You don’t understand sister. This is how the world works. Most strong men who stand at the top won’t be satisfied with spending their life with a single woman. And these women also won’t mind being concubines to these strong men since it comes with the perks of strong backing and cultivation resources no one else can provide them."

Sera narrowed her beautiful eyes. "What are you implying?"

The young man hesitated for a moment and said sheepishly, "Sister, although Aren has a questionable character, even you can’t deny the fact that he has an impressive background and he himself is extremely talented with good looks to boot. According to the rumors, every woman in his harem lives the life of a queen. Why don’t you consider his proposal seriously?"

Sera fell silent for a moment and asked in a low voice, "Is this your decision or do our parents also hold the same view?"

The young man stared at Sera and said matter of factly, "Brother Aren visited our family a week ago. He expressed his love for you in front of the whole family elders and everyone approved of his sincerity. If you don’t agree, you will be kicked out of the family."

"Sister Mira," before the young man could finish, Sera called out and the maid Mira appeared before her.

"Give me my bank card," Sera asked emotionlessly.

Mira also didn’t ask why and handed a golden card to her. Sera took the card and after scanning it with her skynet watch, threw it towards the young man who caught it with a puzzled expression on his face.

"The password is 9447143. I have disabled all the biometric authentication from the card so there won’t be a problem in retrieving the money. There is one million silver grade coins inside. Tell Mr. and Mrs. Lohan that this is the compensation from my master for raising me until I was eleven. From now on, I won’t be part of the Emberfall family. So if we ever meet in the future, remember to address me as Seraphine Silvershine, the disciple of Sophia Silvershine," Sera said calmly as she looked towards the night sky.

The young man was initially stunned, then his eyes turned cold. "Seraphine Emberfall, don’t be ungrateful. If my family didn’t adopt you back when your father died, do you think you would have this day when you can stand shoulder to shoulder with other heavenly geniuses?"

Sera tilted her head and looked at the young man with a deadpan expression. "First of all, I am a direct member of the Emberfall family. My father’s contribution to the family was enough for me to cultivate at least to the platinum realm without worrying about resources. But after I was adopted by Mr. Lohan Emberfall, all the resources in my name just vanished. Do you really think I am blind?"

The young man clenched his fist and retorted, "We should have known that we were feeding a snake all these years. Even if you forget the kindness my family has shown you, what about Uncle Draven? He looked after you, cared for you, and even let you enter the Moon Palace. And when it came to repaying all these favors, you outright betrayed him."
