Omega's Rebirth - Chapter 347: Report In Person ()
"This is his will?" Neveah asked knowingly as Lord Kaideon’s escort brought them to a small, vacant tent.
It was situated in a slightly detached position from the rest of the tents set up to form the camp of the second squadron and the only other tent relatively close to it was what Neveah had identified to be the main tent in the camp.
The main tent in the camp could only have one obvious occupant, the very same person whose wrath Neveah could still sense from where she was.
Lord Kaideon’s lack of reaction was all the answer Neveah needed.
"I am not allowed outside without orders, am I?" Neveah asked again.
Lord Kaideon nodded this time to show she had guessed it exactly right, Neveah was to be remanded within her tent till King Jian had the time to deal with her.
"I understand." Neveah complied, heading into the tent.
The interior of the tent was bare and ordinary, just a small, temporary living space but it was still a much welcome sight to Neveah after the past days.
Neveah walked over to the bed to take a seat first and allow her wolf the silence and inactivity required to perfect their healing process.
All the while, Lord Kaideon who had stepped in behind Neveah watched her movements.
"Did he ask you to keep an eye on me too?" Neveah asked when Lord Kaideon did not leave even after a moment.
Lord Kaideon shook his head slightly, crossing his arms over his chest.
Neveah’s brows furrowed in confusion, not clear on why Lord Kaideon had decided to keep her company.
It took a moment before it came to her.
"You’re worried I will get ideas and make matters worse...yet again." Neveah guessed.
Lord Kaideon shrugged, neither denying nor agreeing to Neveah’s words.
"Perhaps it is a good idea, I also do not fathom just what I do at times." Neveah murmured to herself, still regretting the words she had said to King Jian,
And more than that, the silliness of her attempt to keep Davina’s affair a secret.
"Kaideon, there you are." Another voice sounded, stepping into the tent.
Neveah recognized the dragon lord who was always by Lord Kaideon’s side, and spoke in his place most of the time.
"You must come speak to our liege, he is in a terrible rage and will not give ear to anyone else." The dragon lord conveyed to Kaideon in low tunes.
Neveah had heard this dragon lord was Lord Kaideon’s closest friend and second in command, his name was Rodvan. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Neveah did find it interesting that the one person who could speak to the dragon king was the one person who did not speak.
"Lord Rodvan." Neveah greeted, lowering her head slightly.
Lord Rodvan’s gaze moved to Neveah, it seemed he had only just taken notice of her presence since all his attention had been on Kaideon.
"Well, if it isn’t the interesting girl? I would call it a surprise to find you out here in the wilds...but nothing surprises dune dragons." Lord Rodvan returned Neveah’s greeting in his own unique manner.
Neveah’s lips twitched slightly in amusement, the dune dragons did not bother to stand on ceremony of titles and always spoke their mind, it was an appealing trait.
"Yes, he appears utterly calm and has said nothing. You know what our liege’s wrath is like, this silence does not forbear any good." Lord Rodvan continued.
Neveah could not help but overhear the words, she had already found the atmosphere in the camp much too tense and then again, just what had happened in the forest with the troll golem?
The atmosphere was just not right for either a victory or a defeat.
"What is going on out there? Is there something wrong? What became of the troll golem?" Neveah asked.
Neveah’s question drew the attention of the two dragon lords who had continued their conversation, one in absolute silence and the other in a hushed tone.
They both stared at Neveah as though just realizing she was there to hear all that was being said...by one party at least.
"It is nothing you will need to concern yourself with. No danger will come to you, child." Lord Rodvan assured Neveah.
"I was not worried about that..." Neveah murmured beneath her breath, passing Lord Kaideon a hopeful look.
Lord Kaideon nodded his permission to his second in command who did not hesitate to comply.
"A jump portal appeared, the troll golem was portaled away." Rodvan conveyed.
Neveah knew what a jump portal was, it was another of the things she had read about in Mor’rud’s library when her interests had moved from golems to summoning magic.
A jump portal was a portal cast by a mage or in this case, a dark sorcerer that took effect at a great distance from where the spell caster was, with no traces leading back to the spell caster.
"No one knows where the beast is then? It could have gone anywhere?" Neveah asked in concern.
"A jump portal has a short effect range and the troll golem is of a great size, it should not be easy to transport it so far off, even with dark magic."
"There are dragons tracking down the magical signature, we will hear word any moment now." Rodvan assured.
"My only concern is, if they have kept it hidden with portals this long, it would be tasking on any sorcerer."
"We cannot underestimate the magical ability of this dark sorcerer." Rodvan added, this time, he was speaking to Kaideon.
Neveah frowned slightly at Rodvan’s words.
"Why would the dark sorcerer bother expending his magic to keep the golem hidden with portals? The golem would blend in just fine anywhere, all by itself." Neveah pointed out.
"You encountered the golem?" Rodvan asked, he and Kaideon staring at Neveah in surprise.
"For only a brief moment while it was still in human form." Neveah replied with a nod.
Kaideon and Rodvan exchanged glances.
"The golem was in human form?! That is not possible!" Rodvan exclaimed.
"I watched it’s transformation begin with my own eyes." Neveah insisted.
"This was it all along..." Rodvan then murmured in quiet realisation.
"Child, come with us. You will report your findings to Our Liege in person." Rodvan instructed as he and Kaideon hurried away.
