Omega's Rebirth - Chapter 332: A Man Of Dark Mysteries ()
Neveah glanced down at her own hand for a moment, she was never one to judge good or evil based on the facts presented by others.
Neveah had always trusted in her own judgement and at the moment, all her gut instincts had been triggered and they screamed of danger to her.
Perhaps it was her slowly forming bond with Menarx speaking, perhaps it was his strand of flame within her that set alight her insides, warning her not to place her trust in a representative of the darkness.
Whatever it was, Neveah found herself slowly shaking her head in refusal. The last time this question had been presented before Neveah, Neveah had accepted with no hesitation.
Neither knowing nor understanding the consequences, she had taken a blind leap simply because she wanted to live.
And Neveah still did want to live, after all she had come past, she knew she deserved that much, but it was not at any cost.
"You are my Lord Dragon’s mortal enemy, you have attempted to hurt him before and you will do so again if the chance is presented... I will never hold your hand." Neveah stated clearly as she retreated back into the cell.
The Lady of Ruby scales she was, that was all Neveah had chosen to think for. For the man she had chosen, his world, his heart and all that was his.
Neveah did not know of any other way she could escape this situation she had suddenly been thrust into by one she had only begun to trust,
But this did not seem like the right choice either. To owe a life debt was a big affair, Neveah would much rather find her own way out... somehow.
The dark sorcerer did not seem surprised by Neveah’s choice, instead he chuckled quietly as his hand dropped back to his side.
"You are not as strong as I believed you to be, little wolf... your kind is also weakened by bonds and attachments."
"Life and loyalty are presented before you, and you chose the later? What shall it prove when you are dead?" The dark sorcerer asked directly.
It seemed he was honestly confused by Neveah’s choice and at the same time, Neveah was certain she sensed a trace of disappointment in his tone but she could not be so sure.
’Did he hope for a selfish choice from me?’ Neveah wondered.
’He is a strange existence... complicated in his thoughts, do not attempt to decipher him Veah. Only know what a danger he is.’ Neveah’s wolf warned her from within.
All the while, Neveah’s wolf had said nothing and Neveah knew it was because her wolf not only agreed but approved of her decision.
’It is only a pity that perhaps we might once again face death... for a bond.’ Neveah thought to her wolf, as she just could not help the thought.
’He is worth all we can give, Veah. We know this, it is why we chose him.’ Neveah’s wolf thought back.
The words of Neveah’s wolf were not meant to sway Neveah in any direction, they were just stated to remind Neveah that one could never be likened to the other.
"I wish not to prove anything... I only hope not to leave regrets this time." Neveah murmured, more to herself than to the dark sorcerer.
The dark sorcerer watched Neveah in silence for a moment, a compliment glint in his eyes before he stepped into the cell and strode over to Neveah.
Neveah sensed his approach and glanced up, she made to retreat, move farther away from him but Neveah’s eyes widened in horror when she found she could not move.
As though she had been frozen in space, Neveah could not move a single limb. Every part of her held down by an invisible force.
For a moment, Neveah had allowed herself overlook the fact that she was dealing with a dark sorcerer, how could she have hoped to refuse him?
"What are you trying to do?" Neveah demanded as she struggled against the invisible binds, her wolf rising to the surface to aid her.
The dark sorcerer ignored Neveah’s question, stopping right before her, he crouched down, that complicated glint still reflected in his eyes.
"But you see... I am one who always gets my way. Regardless of your reasons or motivations, I do as it pleases me."
"One whom I desire to kill must die one day or the next...in the same manner, one whom I desire to protect... I shall do, even when you do not wish for my protection." The dark sorcerer made clear.
Neveah was completely dumb founded and could only stare up in horror as the dark sorcerer lifted her up into his arms.
"Let me down!" Neveah snarled furiously.
"Do not be stubborn now... I could have you out in utter silence and save many lives, or you could stir a ruckus and whoever blocks my path will die... the choice is yours." The dark sorcerer pointed out.
Neveah’s next words were caught in her throat as she was not certain if the dark sorcerer was being serious, yet it did not seem like he was jesting at all.
"You would kill your own allies?" Neveah asked warily, all her instincts on high alert within her yet the invisible force was far stronger than Neveah could comprehend.
"I would kill anyone, little wolf...but you, I shall not harm." The dark sorcerer replied blankly.
"And why is that?" Neveah asked warily.
"Why? I am not certain myself but something tells me I shall come to understand soon enough." The dark sorcerer murmured.
Neveah blinked in astonishment and opened her mouth to say more but was cut off.
"Hush now...go to sleep...when you awaken, you would be safe." The dark sorcerer said.
Just as he spoke, Neveah’s eyelids grew heavy and against her will, she found herself drifting off to sleep.
The last thing she saw was that pitch black face mask that hid a face and a man of many dark mysteries.
