Chapter 310: A Reminder (Ch.310)

Adrienne’s eyes widened and her gaze snapped up to the seer.

Her blood ran cold, she could not even tell if the words of the seer were a threat but whatever they were, Adrienne’s life and that of her entire clan depended on it.

If this truth was ever revealed, Adrienne knew for certain that the entire Fae kind would be wiped out.

Dragon King Jian was many things, but merciful was not one of them.

King Jian was known to be far more cruel than any of the dragon kings before him, and beyond that he was a just man who held firmly to principles and morals.

It was not even a question, King Jian would never let the Fae tribes off.

"What... what do you want...?" Adrienne stuttered out, her composure completely melting away in the wake of her terror.

"Two generations of the Fae has gone by since. In this time, each clan of the Fae has been ruled independently by clan leaders. The throne of the High Queen of the Fae has not seen another successor for centuries."

"Though there has been no High Queen since then but you Adrienne are a direct descendant..."

"The High Queen of the time was your grand mother. By blood and law, you will also be held accountable for the sins of your ancestor..."

"Most especially since your generation has carried the mandate to keep the secret buried." The seer shook his head in amusement as he spoke.

"The world has always wondered why there has been no High Queen after the passing of your grandmother, even when every generation after presented worthy successors."

"I also wondered over this a long time ago, but I know the answer to that now." The seer continued

"For the crown of High Queen to be restored to your family, the deceased Fae Queen must have left a final order. The one who resolves this great shame of the Fae kind would then be made High Queen."

"Is that not the very reason why your aunt had you two sisters infiltrate Dragon Keep?" The seer asked knowingly.

"But you have also had your own intents. To bond the dragon king and bear him a child, this is the only way to ensure if the truth ever came out, the dragons would be helpless against the Fae kind."

"Dragons value kinship above all else, they would not harm the tribe and family of their King’s rider...you are playing a great gamble with great rewards as the stake." The seer concluded with a wide grin.

Adrienne bit down on her lip, the words of the seer were so accurate that it was terrifying.

While Adrienne’s aunt had believed inter bonding Fae’s and dragon lords would tighten the bonds between both races and eventually merge both races, and then the shame of the past could truly be forgotten.

Adrienne believed there was a much more effective method than training hundreds of Fae beauties to entice the adamant dragon lords.

And this method was the heart of the dragon king...if Adrienne could acquire the dragon king’s heart, then she knew all the fears of her people could finally be put to rest.

If she could become someone loved and valued by the dragon king, then Adrienne would have her own ways to ensure the past would never be revealed.

All she needed...all that could save her people was King Jian’s heart and so that place by King Jian’s side was one she would kill to have.

"Just tell me what you want from me..." Adrienne said again, struggling to restrain the panic she felt.

"I do not believe the golden scaled would take a mate who has the blood of his mother’s murderer running through her veins, wouldn’t you agree?" The seer quizzed, ignoring Adrienne’s plea.

"What is it that you want?!" Adrienne shrieked, tears running freely down her cheeks.

"Hmm... that reaction is pleasing enough. To see your mask fall away and crash into many pieces." The seer stated in amusement.

Adrienne shuddered visibly, the words of the seer sent an eerie chill running down her spine.

"You have thought wisely, the only weakness of a dragon is indeed his rider and becoming the weakness of the dragon king is the one chance to earn your people’s redemption."

"You are far more daring than the rest of your family and more cunning too. Perhaps you truly would be the one to resolve the shame of the past and become the true successor to the crown of the High Queen." The seer mused.

He crouched down before Adrienne again, staring into her eyes.

"You ask what I want? Nothing truly... I only wish to remind you of what fear and desperation feels like, to remind you of what is at stake for you and your kind."

"You cannot afford to fail, can you? And so, it goes without saying that you must be willing to do whatever it takes...join hands with whoever you must if it means you can reach the heights you wish to reach." The seer continued.

"What... what does that mean?" Adrienne stuttered out warily.

"What I mean to say is, you are not in any position to take a righteous path or discern between good and evil... All you need to do is keep your eyes on your goal." The seer said in a dark sinister tone.

"I already see it in your eyes that you are willing to do whatever it takes, the darkness is already in you, young Fae, you can never be rid of it."

"I want you to always remember it...for that look in your eyes is the only reason I shall help you." The seer concluded.

He moved again and returned to the platform he had been sitting on when Adrienne first came in, there he took his seat once again.

"Now Princess Adrienne of the Fae... what answers do you seek?" The seer asked, his tone now reverting back to it’s initial quiet calm.
