Omega's Rebirth
Chapter 309: The True Evil ()
"Enough! That is enough!" Adrienne yelled, her magic energy lashed out to force away the haze of the illusion the seer had cast.
Adrienne’s consciousness returned and she was once again aware of her environment in the seer’s cave.
The seers gaze was still fixed on Adrienne but there was a sinister smile set on his lips.
Adrienne could not tell if she had actually just seen into the past or it was just a scene conjured up by the seers magic based on his knowledge of the past.
Whatever it was, it left Adrienne with goosebumps and a cold shiver ran down her spine.
Adrienne concealed her reaction as quickly as she could but the seer had already caught it.
"Why? You do not dare to witness the treachery of your ancestors or the great wrong they had done to the dragons?"
"You do not dare to admit that your kind could not oppose the dragons, not out of kindness or compassion but the guilt and shame of the evil you had committed and concealed?" The seer asked in an amused tone.
"I... I do not know what you are talking about!" Adrienne hissed defensively.
"Perhaps you do not, perhaps you do not know exactly what events happened. Perhaps all your ancestors passed down was a vague truth that concealed their treachery..." The seer began as he walked slowly over to Adrienne.
"There are hundreds of dragon lords, I would be bold to say you still have a handful of options."
"If you truly know nothing, tell me why you have set your eyes on the golden scaled. Shall I truly believe you do not hold ulterior motives?" The seer continued.
Adrienne’s eyes widened, she could not understand how the seer had come to know the things he did.
The past history of the Fae race, and about her intentions towards the dragon king.
"I genuinely wish for his acceptance and love, that is all." Adrienne defended.
"It would be touching...if truly that was all there was to it." The seer murmured with a quiet chuckle as he arrived before Adrienne and leaned down, staring Adrienne dead in the eyes.
"You do not dare witness the event, it can only be because you already know how that event played out." The seer asserted matter of factly.
"Your ancestor betrayed her vow to the one who saved her life, the highly revered High Queen of the Fae conspired and slew an innocent, concealing the act to be the doing of the dark empire." The seer began, his blank whites searching Adrienne’s wide eyes.
"It was already a time of war, so without a doubt, the dark sorcerers were the easiest scape goats." The seer continued, nodding his head in understanding.
"The dark sorcerers had already committed uncountable wrongs against the dragons, what trouble was there to add to it just another wrong?"
"They had slain thousands, dragons and every other race alike in their tyranny, certainly they could bear the burden of just one more life?"
"It was not too much to carry was it? The dark sorcerers were already the great evil after all. They were already tainted...they were best dragged down for it than letting a spot of darkness on the untainted fae kind."
"That was how your ancestor must have thought of it, that was just how she must have justified her actions to herself." The seer said in a tone barely above a whisper.
Adrienne did wish more than anything at this point that she could not hear the seer’s words, but she did hear them, every single word settled heavily in her heart.
"That is enough..." Adrienne whispered in a shaky tone.
"The actions of the High Queen enraged the beasts of Asvar and the uprising against the unrepentant dark sorcerers grew all the more fierce." The seer continued his tale in a much calmer tone, rising to his feet again.
"An uprising that had dragged on for ten years ended swiftly soon after, with the complete annihilation of the dark sorcerers."
"The dragons razed everything down, sparing no life. Man, woman nor child...not even an animal was spared and that great empire and it’s greatest fortress was left as the swamp of devastation it is now." The seer continued with a shake of his head.
"It was that one death that became the determining factor. That one death was what truly enraged the dragons to a blood haze and brought about the end of thousands of sorcerers in fire and blood."
"Yet that was the one death that had nothing to do with the dark sorcerers..." The seer continued, his smirk widening when Adrienne’s hands began trembling visibly.
"The true evil doer was one Agardan the vanquisher would have never expected. How could he have known that his beloved rider would die at the hands of the Fae Queen whose life he saved?" The seer mused, clicking his tongue afterwards.
"The Fae kind was willing to forsake all it’s clans who had practiced dark magic just to conceal this evil they had done... and what an excellent job they did of it."
"For even centuries after, this truth still remains buried beneath the blood and agony of thousands of dark sorcerers burned alive by Agardan’s raging flames..." The seer paused for a moment and passed a look to a trembling Adrienne.
"What greater treachery than this? Who was the true evil in those times? The seer quizzed.
"Tell me Adrienne, are there any part of my words which are untrue?" The seer asked.
Adrienne did not respond, her throat was suddenly clogged up. Her terror overwhelmed her shock at the depth of knowledge the seer had.
"If you cannot answer that, then at least tell me. For how much longer do you suppose this truth can remain hidden before it finally comes to the knowledge of the golden scaled?"
"That there was much more to the death of his mother than he knew of?" The seer posed another question.
