Chapter 246: Trouble in Keep Skies (Ch.246)

"Escort Lady Neveah back to her quarters." Lord Everon instructed.

The dragon lord complied immediately, taking hold of Neveah’s hand and pulling her back with him.

Neveah struggled against the hold of the dragon lord but he was much more stronger and his grip was firm as he pulled Neveah back away from the edge and back towards the entrance of the landing platform.

"Unhand me! Unhand me this instant!" Neveah snarled in an animalistic tone, her wolf rising to the surface.

"Calm yourself, Lady Neveah. We must allow My Liege and the King’s guard guide Menarx’s landing or he will crash." The dragon lord reasoned calmly.

Neveah’s struggle stopped for a moment at the words of the dragon lord.

The other dragon lords had also retreated to free the edge of the landing platform for Menarx’s landing.

As the King’s guard guided him closer to the edge, they moved away at the very edge, letting Menarx land with only King Jian’s aid.

Menarx’s landing was heavy and uncoordinated, he crashed down on his side but the crash was light due to King Jian’s support.

The landing platform shook at the impact of Menarx and King Jian’s landing and Neveah’s eyes widened in horror as she clearly saw the extent of Menarx’s injury.

Blood quickly pooled beneath his form and he growled weakly, struggling to rise to his limbs only to crash back down.

Menarx shook his large dragon head, his growls were pained and restless and Neveah could only watch in horror.

The moment King Jian landed, he shifted back into his human form.

"Still Narx!" King Jian growled, placing a hand on Menarx’s side to calm him.

"Everon!!" King Jian called for Lord Everon who was by his side in an instant.

"We should go now. Lord Everon orders you are not to be present." The dragon lord reminded as he pulled Neveah.

Neveah snapped out of her shocked state, shoving away the dragon lord with a ferocious snarl.

They all acted like they would accept her, but now that it came to this, they wanted her to leave? Leave after seeing Menarx in such a state?

"Don’t you touch me!" Neveah warned fiercely, her voice drawing the attention of all the dragon lords.

Including Menarx who was previously calm, he growled in response as he struggled to rise to his feet again, snarling.

"Narx! Stay! You’ll hurt yourself!" King Jian ordered. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

Menarx snarled at King Jian, as he shrugged away King Jian’s hold, growling fiercely at the dragon lords that prevented him from moving.

Neveah’s heart sank as Menarx’s injury bled more profusely due to his movements and she mentally cursed herself for calling to him...but it was too late now, Menarx had already heard Neveah’s call.

"Take her away, would you?! I need him calm!" Lord Everon hissed urgently without even glancing back.

"Narx!" Neveah called as she hurried over but her path was blocked by another dragon lord.

Menarx released an earth shaking growl, his ragged breathing was enough to tell just how furious and uneasy he was.

Neveah knew she had to get to Menarx, he would not be calm if she did not.

"I am the Lady of Ruby Scales! If anyone should be here!..." Neveah hissed, her furious gaze turning on Lord Everon.

"Who else more than I?!" Neveah demanded, her gaze daring Lord Everon to counter her words.

"Let her through." King Jian ordered and the dragon lords moved aside.

Neveah rushed past, hurrying over to Menarx, she arrived before him, staring up into his tired eyes.

Menarx’s head lowered to be on level with Neveah and she reached out a hand to rest against his scales.

"Stay Narx...let Everon do his work, I will be here, I’m not going anywhere." Neveah assured.

Menarx growled again as he crumbled back down, unable to hold up his weight on his injured limb.

"Keep him calm...we must pull out the spear." King Jian’s voice sounded from beside Neveah.

"Narx...oh gods!" Neveah’s voice trembled as she saw the extent of his injury from such a close distance.

Neveah slowly knelt in the pool of Menarx’s blood, shuddering as it soaked up her night dress.

A sob was stuck in Neveah’s throat and she struggled to hold it back as she wrapped her arms around Menarx’s head as far as they would go, resting her head against his scales.

"Hush... do not cry. It’s just a graze." Menarx’s tired voice sounded in Neveah’s mind.

Menarx’s scales were strangely cold, it was unlike his usual warmth and deeply unsettling.

His breaths were heavy yet slow and quiet growls rumbled out of him every so often.

"What graze? Would a graze weaken you so?" Neveah reprimanded shakily.

"Narx... this will hurt, brace yourself." King Jian said to Menarx.

"Take it out... I’m fine." Menarx’s thoughts sounded in Neveah’s mind though she knew he was speaking to King Jian.

"You have to break it off and pull it out from the blade. Step back Veah." Lord Everon said.

Neveah winced visibly as she moved away slightly, watching as Lord cassia carefully climbed up to Menarx’s arm and took hold of the spear.

A growl rumbled out of Menarx and Neveah bit down on her lip harshly to hold back her tears.

Lord Cassian waited a moment before he snapped the spear in two, tossing it aside.

King Jian then took hold of the sharp blade of the spear that protruded from Menarx’s shoulder.

Neveah was certain the blade would cut into his palm but King Jian did not care for that, he passed a glance to Menarx before he pulled it out in one tug.

Menarx let out a shaky breath as Lord Everon was quick to stall the bleeding.

"You can shift now Narx, so I may tend to you properly." Lord Everon permitted.

Menarx growled lowly, as his form slowly changed and in the blink of an eye, in the place of a massive red scaled dragon was a heavily bleeding Menarx, clutching his shoulder.

"I... I saw it..." Menarx stuttered out shakily.

"The beast Kaideon spoke of...it was not in the White Dunes! It is headed here...for Keep Skies!" Menarx forced out urgently.
