Zombie Bodyguard-Chapter 1433 - 1430: Guard Stealing?
Damn it, considering the speed now, it’s quite fast. Lin Tian looked at the rapidly escaping figure and secretly cursed, without slowing down, he also dashed towards the bathroom.
The light in the bathroom was also on. Just as he reached the bathroom door, a sudden scream of "Ah" came from inside. Lin Tian could clearly hear it was Yun Xiaotian’s voice.
"Damn, what’s Yun Xiaotian doing in the bathroom at this hour?" Lin Tian was puzzled. Only those with kidney problems would run to the bathroom at night, but young people usually sleep soundly until morning.
Despite his confusion, Lin Tian accelerated and charged into the bathroom. When he got inside, he saw that person had already jumped out of the bathroom window.
At the same time, he also took in the scene in the bathroom. It was large, and the bathing setup was surprisingly an old-fashioned wooden tub, just like ancient times.
At this moment, the steam hovered inside the tub, indicating that it was filled with hot water. A head was sticking out by the edge, it was Yun Xiaotian, bathing at midnight! Initially he looked frightened, but upon seeing Lin Tian, the fear turned into panic.
Seeing this boy’s expression, Lin Tian almost forgot about the thief. He walked towards the tub, wanting to see what this boy was up to with his midnight bath.
"Brother Lin, don’t worry about me, go after the thief." Yun Xiaotian shrunk inside the tub, exposing only half of his head, and shouted in panic.
Lin Tian didn’t pay it much mind, assuming he was just startled. Seeing that Yun Xiaotian was fine, Lin Tian turned and jumped out of the window, from the second floor to the first floor.
Just as he landed on the ground, a window on the second floor opened. Ghost poked his head out and, seeing Lin Tian, was momentarily stunned: "Brother Tian, why are you here? I just heard Xiaotian’s scream, is he okay?"
"Xiaotian is fine, you go guard the hall." Lin Tian instructed, and then walked towards a standalone building on the west side of the courtyard.
Though called a building, it was only two stories high, not large, and appeared quite simple, likely containing only a single room inside.
When he reached the door, Lin Tian knocked leisurely. A few seconds later, a light came on inside, followed by footsteps. With a creak, the wooden door opened.
"Good evening, old lady, we meet again." Lin Tian said with a mixed expression of amusement. Indeed, the one living in this stand-alone building was the elderly woman sweeping the grounds.
"Your name is Lin Tian, right? What’s your business with this old woman in the middle of the night? After sweeping the whole day, aren’t you tired? I’m exhausted, can’t you let people sleep? Such rudeness!" The elderly woman said angrily, attempting to shut the door in Lin Tian’s face.
Lin Tian pressed a hand on the door, saying blandly, "Granny, you did sweep the whole day, that is exhausting. Coming to my room to clean so late, how could it not be?"
"Why should a young man talk nonsense? Since returning from the Qingshuang Pavilion Ruins, I’ve been sleeping in my room. Who had time to clean your room? Go away, don’t disturb my sleep!" The old woman said irritably, again trying to shoo Lin Tian away.
Lin Tian was not upset, turned away, saying as he walked, "I’m leaving for real. But, doesn’t Granny want to know what’s in my safe? If I’m not mistaken, the safe remained unopened when I dashed out. After tonight, I’ll be relocating it, and seeing it again would be unlikely."
What the old woman’s goal was, Lin Tian couldn’t guess. But it certainly involved the contents of the safe. How she sensed there was something valuable in the safe was unclear to Lin Tian. Perhaps this old woman also had clairvoyance?
This was actually an exciting possibility for Lin Tian since he hadn’t found anyone else with clairvoyance capabilities yet, including the female zombie; her exact abilities were still unknown.
A silence ensued behind him, and just as Lin Tian had walked a dozen meters away, a voice suddenly called out, "Wait..."
Upon hearing "Wait," a smile appeared in Lin Tian’s eyes. He knew his gamble had paid off; the old woman couldn’t help but call him back.
Turning back to the small standalone building, Lin Tian smiled faintly, "I’m curious why?"
Surprisingly, instead of looking ashamed, the old woman replied with an irritable tone, "Kid, no need to use that tone with me. I did visit your room, but I certainly wasn’t after your stuff. I’ve seen all kinds of treasures; what you offer may not even catch my eye!"
"Granny, you misunderstood. I don’t mind whether you’ve been there or what you’re up to. I’m just curious; how did you know there were good things in the safe? Do you, by chance, have clairvoyance?" Lin Tian corrected her with a wave of his hand, displaying an intrigued expression, even slightly excited. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
"Clairvoyance? Huh..." The old woman chuckled, looking at Lin Tian like he was an idiot. "Ancient Martial practice isn’t about magic, where did you get clairvoyance from? Young people sure have wild imaginations."
It wasn’t my imagination running wild; it was the fact that I had clairvoyance myself. But Lin Tian couldn’t admit this, so he intentionally played dumb, "Then I’m even more curious, how did Granny know about the safe’s contents?"
The old woman shook her head, saying, "I don’t know what’s inside. I just smelled something special. I’ve been smithing my whole life, familiar with various stones, ore materials, and this nose of mine can detect their scent from a distance."
"Smithing? Granny is a blacksmith?" Lin Tian was surprised; he’d never heard of a woman blacksmith before, and even male blacksmiths were rare in modern society.
"Haha, you could say I’m a blacksmith." The old woman replied with indifference, laughing.
Smithing, ore, a light flashed in Lin Tian’s mind, and he raised an eyebrow, seriously saying, "No, not a blacksmith. A blacksmith wouldn’t need to deal with ores."
"Are you... a Caster?" Lin Tian was uncertain, then ventured further, "Are you from Qingshuang Pavilion, specializing in swordsmanship, or more precisely, a Swordsmith?"
The old woman smiled calmly and said indifferently, "Swordsmith or not, I’m just a smith. So, after all this roundabout, you’re reneging on showing me the good stuff? Speak straightforwardly, young man, don’t beat around the bush."
Now it seems like it’s my fault, who was the one sneaking into my room like a thief? Who should be questioning whom here? Lin Tian thought with resignation.
This straightforward, somewhat stubborn old woman, without any hostility, left Lin Tian without the option of turning hostile.
"You can look, but since we’re on even ground now, it’s not right for me to keep calling you Granny. What should I call you?" Lin Tian took the chance to ask, which wasn’t abrupt given the situation.
