Zombie Bodyguard-Chapter 1432 - 1429: Burgled
Lin Tian stood a step behind Wang Wanxi, not seeing the change in her expression, but noticed her hesitant step forward.
"Is there something wrong, Aunt Wang?" Lin Tian asked.
"Nothing, let’s go back first. There’s no need to worry about the Xiao sisters, they are safe in the Qingshuang Pavilion." Wang Wanxi spoke with certainty, the hesitation in her eyes vanished.
"Hmm, Aunt Wang has been busy all day with our matters, it’s been tough on you." Lin Tian expressed his gratitude.
Wang Wanxi turned to look at Lin Tian seriously and said, "If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have had the chance to revisit old places. It’s been over ten years since I ventured far from the Ancient Martial World. Looking back today, it feels like yesterday. The places remain, but I, Wang Wanxi, am no longer the same person I was back then."
Her sentiment naturally was about how she had entered the secular world, having long been disconnected from the Ancient Martial World, evoking some feelings of change over time.
"Aunt Wang, I’ve always been curious about how you and Uncle Yun, belonging to different worlds, ended up together?" Lin Tian asked with a bit of gossip.
Wang Wanxi used to be a gifted genius, certainly a rising star in the Ancient Martial World, and yet she ended up marrying into the secular Yun Family as a daughter-in-law. Lin Tian was somewhat puzzled as to how people from two different worlds ended up together.
Wang Wanxi glared at Lin Tian, feigning annoyance as she said, "Xiao Tian, since when did you become so gossipy?"
"Hehe, just curious, purely curious," Lin Tian chuckled shamelessly, saying.
Wang Wanxi shook her head helplessly and then, with a hint of a smile, said, "It’s also because of fate. Ancient Martial families’ cultivation doesn’t happen in isolation. If one is cultivating, there is worldly training. I attended university back then, where I met Yun Haoyu. We were unaware of each other’s identities until we got to the point of meeting the parents and confessed our backgrounds."
"Regarding the Yun Family, I am aware, although their heritage doesn’t compare to Ancient Martial families, they are still one of Huaxia’s prominent families. Back then, Yun Haoyu, still a student, was such an elegant person, it surprised me when I learned he was an heir to the Yun Family, a major commercial dynasty."
"My identity, however, truly startled Yun Haoyu. Who knows how much pressure he faced from my clan back then, but he never gave up and never showed those heavy emotions to me, though I could imagine it. Fortunately, my father was quite open-minded and eventually accepted a secular son-in-law."
"Compared to some young individuals bound by arranged marriages, Haoyu and I are quite fortunate that neither set of parents were extremely opposed." Wang Wanxi smiled sincerely, speaking softly.
That old Wang Yuanzhou was also considered open-minded? That temperament is not just ordinarily volatile, Lin Tian was quite surprised but didn’t voice it.
Lin Tian laughed and said, "I can imagine, Uncle Yun showing up at the Wang Family as a secular individual, wanting to marry the family’s talented young lady. The elders probably wanted to kill Uncle Yun."
"Indeed, compared to the difficulties you’ve faced today, it’s a hundred thousand times harder, but fortunately, my father was already Clan Leader back then and supported me, or else Yun Haoyu and I might have had to elope." Wang Wanxi said, somewhat relieved.
"Can’t tell, Aunt Wang was also quite impulsive, thinking about eloping back then," Lin Tian joked.
"Xiao Tian, you dare to joke about Aunt Wang. If someday you want to marry Xiao Manxue, facing the pressure from Qingshuang Pavilion, eloping might be your best choice," Wang Wanxi joked back.
Lin Tian quickly waved his hand, "Come on, Miss always disdains me. We’re often at odds, being friends is the best scenario, eloping? She’ll surely despise me."
"Is that so?" Wang Wanxi smiled without refuting, just looking at Lin Tian with a very peculiar gaze.
Lin Tian didn’t mind and asked, "By the way, Aunt Wang, you mentioned attending university back then, which university was it?" 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"Jinghua University," Aunt Wang said four words.
Lin Tian was taken aback, then couldn’t help but exclaim, "Jinghua University? Then I ought to call you senior! Who knew Jinghua University hides Ancient Martial Artists studying there, quite unexpected."
"There’s much you don’t know. If you weren’t an Ancient Martial Artist, you might never know that Miss is an Ancient Martial Artist, practicing in the secular world, or there might be some hidden Ancient Martial Artists right beside us—your classmates, your colleagues, a passerby you brushed shoulders with. In this mundane world, we’re not so different. When you attend university, you might experience something particularly exciting." Wang Wanxi smiled faintly.
"With Aunt Wang saying this, I’m kind of looking forward to university life," Lin Tian was truly somewhat expectant. Calculating time, it was soon new student orientation.
The two chatted away and arrived outside the Qingshuang Pavilion Ruins’ gates. In front, hearing the arriving business car, the vehicle hadn’t shut off, likely just arrived, specially returning to pick them up.
However, it was a young woman who got out of the car, having met once outside Qinglan Garden. It seemed midnight reception was a chore Shen Danxi was too lazy to deal with, delegating it to a subordinate.
"Miss Wang, Manager Shen has some matters to handle. She directed me to make sure to bring you back to Qinglan Garden properly," the young woman said politely.
"Thank you," Wang Wanxi nodded slightly, then boarded the car with Lin Tian.
The vehicle quickly left the Qingshuang Pavilion Ruins, descended the mountain, passed through Tang City Street, returning to Qinglan Garden. At the Qinglan Garden’s intersection, Lin Tian and Wang Wanxi parted ways; she headed to the Garden Pavilion, while he returned to the simple courtyard.
By now it was late in the night, the courtyard was very quiet, with only the end of the second floor still lit. Lin Tian knew that was the "Yellow Number" Room 8 and 9, Yun Xiaotian and Ghost seemed yet to sleep.
Going up the wooden stairs, Lin Tian instinctively softened his footsteps, along the second-floor corridor, reached "Yellow Number 8" room and was about to unlock the door, when he heard strange noises from inside.
Damn it, even in the Qingshuang Pavilion’s domain, there’s a thief? My shapeshifting stone is still in the room! Lin Tian cursed inwardly, immediately activating super perspective, his eyes scanning the room through the door.
On the table was his safe, and standing in front of the safe was a person. Seeing this person, Lin Tian almost cursed loudly.
Without hesitation, he kicked the door. This old door’s latch couldn’t withstand his power, "Bang!" it swung open.
The loud noise naturally startled the person inside. That person took off running, but Lin Tian was faster, directly barging in, rushing inside.
The room had a window, but it was closed at night; the person didn’t have time to break through it and ran toward the bathroom instead. By the time Lin Tian got in, the figure had already darted into the bathroom.
